For real D. When me and my bud watched this tonight we were both shocked by that. You look rad as heck. We hope to keep your fresh appearance through burrito facades and regular riding! Love from ATL
I find, for me, the best way to cross fast water is with your back to the current and side step. It's pretty stable, and if the current takes your legs out from under you, you just sit down and pop back up.
After years of setting tubeless tires with a floor pump, your massive excitement about the TubiBooster is so relatable lmao Just got an Airshot (sameish thing) and it was like an angel coming down to set my beads for me.
I don't see why using a road frame whit mtb tires and like 60mm of travel is like having the worst of both bikes, I do long road rides whit my specialized stumpjumper hardtail whit maxxis reckon tires and triple chainring (22-32-44) I know is old set up but works perfect 44 for pavement is great and when you get to the mountain tired you have 22-32 to deal whit the climbs and 100mm of travel regular mtb bars
If looking at FS, I'd skew towards newer XC bikes in the search for the simple reason that they're more likely to fit 2 bottles in the front triangle. Most MTBs don't do that, and for the big loops you like to do (and we like to watch), that carrying capacity is a big factor. But another thing you could try is flat bars on the Bombtrack. I find that the position on my gravel bike is the thing that really holds me back on rougher terrain. I have a rigid Jones MTB as well, and the flat bar allows me to be further back to make steep/technical descents much safer.
I've gone full rigid 29+ with 3" chupacabra or whatever the kids call them these days. I ride with full suspension XC bikes without issue. If I were to get an XC bike it might be a Fat Chance 29+ because I'm a huge fan of Chris and his neeto stuff. Oh, and I'm just riding my 907 fatbike with the 29+ and have sold my full suspension XC bike. (Still have my 96 Bontrager cross bike tho)
Maybe he’ll run a raffle! $5 tickets. Only he will know when his investment is met or exceeded. Then one of us will be the lucky winner of a rad rad rig!
Anything with 100-120mm front and 100mm rear.. or the Trek Supercaliber with just 60mm in the back👌 ps. Bonus heads up: sweet spot for off mtb handlebar is 750mm ✌my 2c
@@EverythingsBeenDone So are we but we now and have lived in new zealand for the last 15 years....no doubt he is kind, considerate and very easy going..............
currently have a bike from a company i cant even find on google its not chinese either heavy af 29er hardtail came specced with 80mm travel i upped it to 100 with an improved fork (rockshox recon) currently saving for new wheels as what i have barely stay true for longer than 8 hours of mellow riding on what you would call optimal gravel bike territory with the wheelset upgrade i will also be going tubeless witch is a shame as i have some fairly new wheels on but theyre not tubeless but heck tubeless will shave off atleast 500 grams per wheel (heavy tires, tire liners, tubes) and i will eventually have to deal with finding a few spare derailleur hangers and doing a full drivetrain upgrade (still running square taper) as for new bike im currently looking at either a scott spark 960 or a silverback stratos al1 (both are full sus)
Can you help me out which video of yours has the tuvian throat singing and what is the name of the song. I just scrubbed through all your vids twice now and can’t find it.
Definitely some gnarly terrain there. I consider myself a roadie, but watching your channel is definitely inspiring me to purchase a trail bike........if the wife allows it :) Keep on keeping on man!!!
@@EverythingsBeenDone Have you ever tried to ride offroad fixed gear? Say gravel/mtb routes. I'm doing just that. It's killer! In fact I'm just building a new 650b fixed gear masochist machine, able to fit some bigger rubber. Got a little tired of 35 mm tyres :p
I think you should feature Canyon. BTW you really like to infuse mountain bike into gravel bike. But I don't think drop handlebar really fit for mountain bike trails. You fell a few times with that drop handlebar.
Awesome ride, and I agree a XC or trail bike would be much better for those trails. I think a modern hardtail with a 130mm fork and lots of clearance for 29x2.6” or 27.5x2.8” tires. Just my thoughts
What more can be said thank thank you for always taking us along on your rides!? You are my nightime entertainment and motivation for the next days ride. Did a Portland rain ride today in Ontario, Canadeh
Santa Cruz Blur is great. VPP suspension instead of single pivot, threaded bottom bracket, well balanced geometry. New specialized epic looks cool. But it's more expensive than Santa and can have Brain issues.
Let’s hang out on the gram: bit.ly/DkleinIG
40? For real? But vloggin like you're in your early 30s.
Wait till Im in my 70's ;)
black don't crack
40 is the new 30

@@EverythingsBeenDone 30 more years of subscription? Challenge accepted!
Dude!! Throw a 100mm suspension fork on the p29
That would make a very capable hardtail mtb adventure sled.
I'm the same age as Doug and old enough to know when to ride flatbars.
Im slowly learning!
DK you’ll get learned real good by Doug’s age. 😬
The Ritchey you already have with a suspension fork could do the job nicely
Killer terrain. It's the geometry that makes it under biked.
I feel it!
@@EverythingsBeenDone yeah that bombtrack has scary low stack for that kind of stuff

This is a great tip! Thank you.
That is a great tip. I was waiting for the smartass punchline but all I got was great advice! Thx.
I'm always ready for a new vid! Thanks so much for these.
You are so welcome!
What about the Ritchey? That deserves a suspension :D
As geologist with university degree I'm approving this video (especially that part when you met volano personally).
Haha haha
Now we’ve got history together.
After years of setting tubeless tires with a floor pump, your massive excitement about the TubiBooster is so relatable lmao
Just got an Airshot (sameish thing) and it was like an angel coming down to set my beads for me.
Feels so since to have things work sometimes...LOL its the little-ish things!
Get yourself Cannondale F-Si. I`ve ridden it in the Carpathian mountains in Europe and it`s the best experience I`ve ever had.
Dustin: "I'm 40"
Me: "Bull fucking shit"
lol thanks for always showing us your adventures bro.
I love the metric. Thank you!
That water crossing was properly sketchy! Gonna need those stickers too.
I miss premier, but now I watch, like and comment. If You don’t do this same You are not a player.
Love it!!
2021 Cannondale Scalpel has been very very good bike for all trails and terrain that I ride in SoCal. It's the best 1 bike quiver.
Just get a Krampus, even without a suss fork, it rolls over anything.
Gnarly. Ordered a SLOW AF sticker last week to go with my SLOW AF t-shirt. I get so many smiles when I wear that shirt. ☮

But n+1 ? Haha
Maybe add a 100mm fork on your Ritchey? That would make a sweet XC bike! I really dig your ritchey 😁
Stumbled upon this vid by accident. Tremendous stuff really enjoyed it all, the scenery, the bikes, the music, the editing. Great. (Subscribed).
My Man! So stoked you found your way here! WELCOME.
Maybe the ibis would have been a better choice. But the bomb track looks cool with the meats on it.
10000% ibis would have been better
Oh my goodness, you missed the cutoff climb before the second crossing. An old logging road, steady climb in the shade. Too bad.
Grown men giggling. Always good.
Lots of that when you hang out with me..LOL
"Cries in flat Ontario Canadian Terrain". Man, that's some nice view!
Wish you were here!
But us Ontarians laughed at you guys being cold in -5c. Lol. Jk. 🤣
This guy makes me feel less guilty about putting mtb tyres on my gravel bike
This guy backs your decision 💯
You're 40?! I always thought you were a wise 32 year-old
Another great video! 40? Wow, I was thinking like 30. Guess being in good shape makes you seem younger. I turn 50 in January and think I look 60..LOL.
Logic says to only ride a XC MTB on those tracks, or , face the consquences ....... you gave it a good crack though, LOL
I’ve played all my cards. 🤷🏻♂️
I loved how you keep it real, including the crashes and all. Keep on filming, brother!

Dustin,
If you were to sell the Bombtrack as is with the chunky tires, how much would you want for it?
Maybe he’ll run a raffle! $5 tickets. Only he will know when his investment is met or exceeded. Then one of us will be the lucky winner of a rad rad rig!
Who's got a lead on a XC Bike?
Spesh Epic for miles of smiles
Guerilla gravity trail pistol. Made in Colorado. They need your help with the visuals.
Maybe you can try Bombtrack
Scott Scale for what you just did in this video.

Best thing about an xc hardtail is they are brilliant with drop bars , great video Dustin love your work 👍👍👍
orange bikes from Yorkshire England, is Winston a Yorkshire terrier?
YES he is!

Speclized Epic Evo or Trek Top Fuel, but there are so many more out there. 🤷🏻
Check out Sonder bikes Broken Road. UK company but they ship to the states. I think that model would suit the off-road routes you’re starting to ride.
‘Look at the size of this thing” #ThatsWhatSheSaid
A lot of rubber on that one!
Just curious how you think your Cutty would have been on this ride or your last ride in that area. I want an XC bike too! Pivot Mach!

Trek Stache! Or any mid fat 29er you can get your hands on!....I got a Stache and it's awesome.
Hey @dklein, what helmet is Doug wearing?! Love the look.
If you're considering XC bikes, Niner, sure and also look at Cannondale - their lefty forks are pretty rad.
Kona Hei Hei or Honzo!
Couple years late on this one, but seriously what stores have kitchen equipment and leggings organized together?

Your frame looks badass with that gnarly big rubber on it.
I don't know anyone, but I know I just picked up a Canyon Lux and it is fantastic.
Coool! How you like the Hook Ext-c?
Did I missed something? When did the Bombtrack got front suspension?
15 hours a week? I have no friends or hobbies and I can barely squeeze in 8 a week between work and the kids.

I think you are in trail bike territory
Maybe down country bikes?
Mountain bike dude!
Im working on it! Stand by.
Man that was a real ride......ta for sharing. Do ya think Ron would have got his new shoes wet in the river?
What's wrong with your Ritchy P29?
What is Doug putting in that gel bottle? Is it home made? Would be curious to know

Fezzari Signal Peak, Specialized Epic Evo, Salsa Spearfish or Cannondale Scalpel SE. A set of xc bikes built to have a bit of fun.

Pivot Mach 4sl or Scott Spark 910!!!!
Specialized Epic or Trek Supercaliber are the ultimative XC weapons!

You're so lucky to have so much beautiful open country around you man!!
Another great edit 🤠
It's all on fire a bit now tho. Need rain soon
Epic ride! 👌🏁🏁
Plaaaayer!
You definitely need a xc bike with drop bar
Would!!
Ahhh I found my channel. Another idiot (or genius?) like myself who enjoys being terrified in the drops 😂🤙🏻

My people!!
For a XC bike: Transition Spur
V noice ride, just curious how much tire clearance did you end up with front and rear
15 hours a week certainly sounds like a lot any way you break it down
