I lowkey like this movie a lot better than the second, I feel like the only things I like about the sequel are Death, the representation of anxiety, and the amazing animation. Other than that, I don’t really like the structure and a lot of the side characters don’t mean as much to me as the ones in the first, but that’s just my opinion ofc (please don’t hurt me yall💀)

The credits sequence imply that Humpty did die and the mother goose carrying the golden egg was meant to represent him going to heaven.
I refuse to believe Humpty went anywhere except Tartarus
But don't we see him later in the credits just having fun with the mama goose up there? He looks perfectly fine, like if he regrew his shell or smth.

Honestly my interpretation was he was always a golden egg and internally looking for a way home. Why he obsessively looked for the beans to the castle and didn't consider san ricardo his home. Maybe also why the baby goose was so fond of him.
He was still a horrible person though.

30:28 a real life explanation would be that there are clouds at different altitudes, like layers. Just bc you went past 1 layer of cloud doesn’t mean you’ve gone past all of them.

I also hate the idea of declawing a cat. For the longest time I thought it's just about removing the whole "nails" only, which would hurt too but it would heal later in case of humans - but they literally remove a part of the "fingers", it's amputation. I guess some people think it's fine enough bc cats are known for not showing any signs of pain - so they think declawed cats don't feel any discomfort.
I agree, but I have a cat and when she tried to just scratch herself between her shoulder blades(equivalent to scratching an itch for humans), she would tear up her skin and hair. So we had to for her own health only declaw her back claws. She still has her front claws.
But I am not kidding when she would scratch herself with her back claws, she would scratch with her claws and tear up chunks of skin and hair, which in turn got bloody and need a cone so she wouldn’t scratch the healing scab.
Okay, you NEED to do Last Wish after this! It's kind of ironic, because you actually don't need to have seen this to understand Last Wish-all this movie really does for that is introduce Kitty Softpaws (who is a lot more interesting and charming in the second, by the way). This movie was mid. Last Wish is peak.
I am now pent with anticipation until you watch the sequel. It's genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time.
And if you're going to continue watching full movies, may I recommend Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves if you haven't seen it already? It's another one of my personal favorites and is a really, really fun adventure.

While not necessary aside from introducing Kitty Soft Paws as a character. I think it gives context as to how and why Puss became "The Legend". Which is a major component of his conflict in The Last Wish.
You probably already know, but for everyone else: Puss in Boots 1 takes place in an undetermined time before any of the Shrek movies. Then these movies take place, and The Last Wish at the end of the chronology, Puss leaves Shrek to go back to his own adventures, again, in an undetermined amount of time. To make it easier, basically the Puss in Boots movies make the bread of the Shrek IP sandwich, being the first and the last movies chronologically.
Why do people feel the need to slander the first movie just to upvote the second one? Like the first film isn't even bad.

The Shrek verse is about messing with all the fairytales. So get used to this humor. And Jack and Jill wanted a baby, despite being brother and sister... this movie is really weird, you got that right.

Yep, and to be clear if Mathew sees this it’s not a live action horse girl movie, it’s a dreamworks 2d looking animated movie of a horse that gets separated from his herd during American colonial times. Also the songs are great

My childhood was just shown to me. Even though it’s not the best it’s still a fever dream that was more of a nice and fun movie to watch when you have nothing to do.

Watch the Last Wish next! The first Puss in Boots movie… is. The second one though… genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time.
As much as I don't want to judge you, this movie was a cornerstone of my childhood. I don't even remember how i've seen it, but vividly remember the plot and characters and definitely owning merch, and my neighbour had this massive cardboard cutout from the cinema and _this movie was so important to me as a kid._
I also remember seeing the tv show and absolutely not expecting them to make a sequel all these years later.

To answer your question about the “dead bird” he presents to his mom at the end:
Cats that respect their owners and are allowed outside will go hunting and bring back an almost dead animal as a gift of respect. They don’t kill it cause they want you to do it and eat it like they would. We usually would just pet patches and put the animals in a lilac bush so they could be reborn into the flowers. He eventually just killed them and left the bodies for us. We’d sometimes get 2 or 3 a day.
i will say that me and my partner saw The Last Wish in theaters when it released and we had a time and a half laughing, i think i cried once but i cry at everything now haha
You're right, this movie was quite a trip. The sequel, on the other hand... is still a fantastic movie, and still has some goofy moments, but is taken a lot, LOT, more seriously. I can't wait to see your reaction to that one!

the first one I felt was ok- the second is great and has amazing animation- visually and choreographically. The puss in boots movies include nursery rhyme characters and some references/ parodies to Disney and other companies
The fact that he's questioning the fairytale aspect of this and he's said that he did in fact watch 🎬Shrek🎬, which is so full of fairytales that the setting of 🎬Shrek🎬 is called Far Far Away

Okay but Catra took steps to better herself and she did all of this while having trauma from Shadoweaver. It was Adora’s choice to still lover her because she still sought her deserving of love. If anything Humpty and Puss’s relationship is more like Shadoweaver and Catra.

This is my favorite Puss in Boots movie! I know everyone loves the newest one that came out, but I just like this one because of how overall weird and fun it is. It just it has a certain charm to it.

I always looked at the ending with humpty and found myself asking the question of... if he's an egg, who or what laid him. Made me wonder if his youthful pining for the clouds was indicative of something, homing instinct perhaps. I would think either way it's meant to be positive, sort of. He always wanted to go there, now he never leaves.

Does Mathew not realize that clouds can exist in multiple different layers? You can pass through a cloud and go above it, and then reach more clouds even higher up later.
