There is something so comforting listening to him ramble and speak - its like a hug for a properly kind and patient grandparent. His love for his dogs and compassion for wild predators is so....warm.
hes an amazing person, listening to him talk about his animals and youre spot on, his compassion is unmatched! so thankful for people like him in the world

Eric is super correct about Great Pyrenees. They can be super sweet dogs, and great guardians, but they’re SUPER stubborn. I grew up with a few, livestock dogs and pets, and they’re very different from anatolians. Especially if you need them as great guard dogs.
Recently a pair of Pyrenees in my hometown killed a poodle that got into their fence and started chasing and nipping at their goats. People got so mad about it, which is fair in some sense, but also people don’t understand that that’s a livestock guardians JOB.
I also love that Eric loves all dogs. He knows his anatolians are at his farm to do their job, but still loves a little rat dog.
Its horrible that the poodle died but people should be angry at the poodles owners, letting it get into a farm and attack goats, especially when they know theres livestock guardians there
@@Saturnm0ssif it wasn’t those two Pyrenees, it would’ve been coyotes! Such a sad way to go when literally a piece of string could keep a tiny poodle from roaming
I had a Pyrenees/Anatolian mix, we adopted him from animal control, but we lived in a rural town after moving from a farm house (the house still had the same amount of space for him to run around and meet his daily needs i just wanted to say this so it wasn't like we were confining him after he had space to run) but we were outside doing yard work, and he was off his leash because he would only stay in the yard and not run off anywhere. But some dude was walking his pom poms (they weren't poms but were really close i just cant remember what breed) but they were tiny dogs, and this dude would let them shit in our yard. the little dog came around the side of our tree where i was. and i must of spooked him by being there, or he was just a nipper, but he bit my ankle and when i said "ow" all hell broke loose. Our dog snatched that poor little guy up by the scruff and started shaking. I don't think he was trying to actually hurt the dog, because he didn't leave any kind of mark on him, just wanted to shake him. But the old guy took off after we got his dog out of our dogs mouth and there was no more poop in our yard.
I love these visits to Eric. His farm is a really special place.

The procedure he mentioned for the injection into his joints is called PRP(platelet-rich plasma) injections. In case anyone was curious.
Eric reminds me of my grandpa and other older men in my life I don’t see often anymore. I don’t know if others agree, but I wonder if you could get some things he needs around the farm and put on a wishlist like Alveus has. I’m sure viewers would love to support his farm as a thanks for his wisdom and the content he has participated in.

All the Alveus content is great, and I love watching everything from your facility. But Neighbor Eric is an entirely different kind of satisfying. Dude is wholesome, comforting to listen to, he's got an incredible depth of knowledge. I could listen to him talk about Anatolians, or really anything else he thought of, for days. The fact that he's willing to share all these stories and time with us is a friggin' gift.
When I lived in Bulgaria there was a liter of Anatolian shepherds in the village I lived in. My grandfather gave me a puppy to take care of for a week or so, until his brother came from the village over to pick the fella up. The dog was stupidly obedient to me and had such a massive heart. Just remember his big 'ol head and how he would follow me around and listen to commands even as a puppy. Happy to see him now working along side my great uncle with his ducks and geese. These really aren't like normal dogs. There is something very special about them.
Eric's specialized dog knowledge just proves we could be doing so much better for so many breeds. And we have before, in the past. This stuff needs to be preserved

I loved listening to Eric. I felt like when I go visit my family members in Mexico and I just listen to them talk. I grew up with animals and it is really nice seeing Eric's love for his animals.

Eric is so knowledgeable and sweet! it seems like he loves being able to teach. i love hearing him talk about the job and drive of anatolian sheppards, how he vets who gets them, and why he doesnt like people getting working dogs for the aesthetic.
He’s like an unintentional Alveus guest speaker, he informs about the importance of knowing why you would/would not want a specific breed of dog, as well as how much work goes into good breeding practice
Eric seems awesome! I hope this isn't weird but I found his ranch website and he has a little biography on there and he just has such an interesting life story! He used to work as a virologist with the department of health. He clearly knows his stuff!

I recently got ADDICTED to this vods and now I can't stop binging every day. It's such an entertaining and uniquely educational content, it even got some of my friends and family members to change minor lifestyles like less beef and eggs (my country sells truly humane eggs in very few locations for very high prices so we can't afford those).

I met an Anatolian yesterday, while picking up goslings! He was fucking HUGE and FLOOFY and so SWEET.
I will always cherish these neighbor videos. His intonation and cadence reminds me of my grandfather and his own farm stories. It's very comforting. Reminds me of happier times.
Has Eric ever been over to visit Alveus? I would LOVE to see a colab-style hangout sesh with him with the ambassadors. I understand all the walking might be an issue but I really want to see him meet our other friends!.
They do have at least one vehicle for getting around the property, so they could probably use that for Eric’s tour, and he can sit for the inside critters. They could also break it up into different days

Anatolian is the dog breed fyi. Probably just means people who are interested in the dogs/puppies
