5:05 - I had no idea that goats could CHUG! - Do they actually suck when they drink - kind of like people? Beatle only started licking like a dog to get the last few drops of gatorade - that was crazy
Beetle drank 90% of that gatorade faster than most people could drink it! ... The last 10% are tricky when you're a goat and containers only kind of make sense to you. Edit: Beetle trying to Simba Peewee out of the tree house was a major heel turn!
Maybe Oatmeal is just standoffish and a little brusque and pushy because … she’s been through some stuff? Everyone changes after trauma, the four-legged among us equally much as the two-legged. Hearing Oatmeal’s little cry after Maya just blew past her at 0:49, and then seeing Maya greet the other goats so enthusiastically, made me think of how people can build these shells around themselves, and then other people react to that shell, which to the trauma victim will seem to justify having built that shell in the first place, so then the shell hardens, and people react even more poorly to that … repeat _ad nauseam_ in a self-perpetuating, self-defeating loop. Maybe Oatmeal just needs LOTS of one-on-one time with someone very patient, who’ll just shower her with nonjudgmental love - whether it’s initially reciprocated or not? She may remain forever at least a little insecure and jealous of the other goats, who seem to have it so easy at making friends and receiving love and warm affirmations, but with some work it may be possible to soften her a lot over time … to her own benefit! I’d recommend Carl Rogers’ _On Becoming a Person_ (1961) which, as the title states, is written from a person-centered perspective … but we are all of us quite similar, and I’d say 99% of the book would be helpful in understanding, dealing with, and even helping - if one were so moved - most other species, certainly all the mammals and most of the vertebrates. So yes, I’m recommending reading our modern era’s seminal psychology book for helping Oatmeal unpack her issues.
If Maya ever gets in trouble, she could take her horse and goats and become a mysterious goat herder wandering across the wilderness
they way beetle comes running every time melts my heart they are all so cute!
Telling chat to watch out is one of my favorite bits that Maya does.

the noise was from Connor the camera man, not from oatmeal
