    Hello from the UK. Fantastic job! Watching the motion of the trains your track work is really well done, which can otherwise often undermine great modelling, and for example the 9F plus train looks very realistic, but really every aspect here is a triumph including lighting. Love it!

    Hi Caleb, I really like large layouts without really sharp curves as you can appreciate trains with long rakes of wagons.

    • @CalebsRailFilms
      @CalebsRailFilms  3 роки тому

      So sorry Andrew, for the late reply. My apologies. Yes, larger layouts do fulfil a lot of additional operational opportunities such as longer trains and prototypical mainline running. Something I have always dreamed of since starting in the hobby in 2002. I have to say when I first saw Al’s layout, I was truly amazed at what I saw, that was back in March of 2015 and it has never ceased to amaze me 😍. Many thanks for watching. Warmest regards, Caleb

      Certainly is a lovely, lovely railway by far lol. I had the distinct pleasure to film this layout many times. Hoping to upload Part 2 in the near future along with another visit planned in March of next year, that's if COVID stays away from our state of South Australia and we can have meetings at members houses. So glad you enjoyed the video. Kindest regards, Caleb

    What a wonderfully atmospheric railway. Lovely locos and realistic looking trans. A highly potent combination! 😎

      Indeed it is, Tim. This is one of the more larger layouts of the BRMA (British Railway Modellers of Australia) throughout the state if not the country. I also lovely the period locomotives grouped with the fantastic long consists. It is, indeed, a highly potent combination lol. Couldn't agree more, haha. Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you had a pleasant Christmas with your family as well. Regards, Caleb

    I think I should point out that the Great Western Railway never reached Manchester. The nearest the GWR got to Manchester was Crewe Gresty Lane. Although they had joint lines with the London & North Western Railway between Chester & Birkenhead also Chester to Warrington.
    However the GWR "Loading Gauge" was larger than any other British Railway, which meant than many GWR locos & coaches were banned from even travelling over many other companies lines. This included all the GWR four cylinder types (Stars, Castles & Kings). 70ft length coaching stock as well as "Centenary" and the "Super Saloons" as these were 9ft 6in wide over their bodies, and limited even on the GWR to ex 7ft Broad Gauge routes !!!
    I suspect from watching the programme & the layouts name, that it was intended for the layout to be LMS, as it appears to have no other GWR features other than the locomotives !!!!
    Apart from the above the layout appears to be very well constructed, & detailed. Seems to run well, and thank heaven it's designed for some realistic operation, which as you seem to be already aware, prevents the use of that "Kiddy Train Set" nonsense DCC !!!

    • @CalebsRailFilms
      @CalebsRailFilms  2 роки тому

      Yes, I do realise the GWR never went to Manchester but the owner recreated the layout in a fictional representation of his train spotting days in Manchester and around the UK as a whole. The description in the video is what he provided to me and from time to time he switches between the GWR, LNER, LMS and Southern. I guess he can because it’s his layout haha 😆. I’m also well aware of the GWR loading gauges and the story behind them as I too model the GWR and Western Region. I’ve been interested in the GWR and the Western Region for a long time. It’s a particularly fascinating railway company and one that is great to model and learn about.
      Personally, I prefer DCC but we all have our likes and dislikes in regards to the effective operation of our railways.
      Keep well, James.
      Regards, Caleb

    Excellent film Caleb, with some brilliant viewpoints. Nice to see Alan’s WR stock coming out to play on LR, and lovely to hear some familiar voices in the background. Please pass on my regards to everyone and keep up the great work.

      Many thanks again, my good mate. I'll pass on your regards at our next meeting coming up this weekend at Peter Crawshaw’s place, another favourite of ours. A cracking layout by far. I’m finally getting back on track after a tough three weeks. My grandfather passed away from multiple blood clots on November 24 and we celebrated his life with a brilliant send-off on December 3 of which I organised along with my mum. There have been enough tears to sink a battleship lol 😆. But we are getting there slowly but surely. It hasn't hit me quite hard as yet. That emotion is still to come one suspects. Are you coming for our convention next year if it goes ahead? A Merry Christmas to you and the family. Warmest regards Caleb

    Alan Harrison (even if it is Western) this is first rate scenic, motive power and stock modelling. I'm not a Southern modeller either, but I'm going green. The nearest I can think of in comparison in North Eastern terms is Tom Harland's 'Bramblewick' layout based on Robin Hood's Bay (Whitby-Scarborough branch).

      He runs other regions as well, it’s not just the GWR/WR. And it’s a fictional layout as well, so Al can run a variety of stock of his choice. Most if not all stock is from what he remembers from his train spotting days in the 1950s and 60s. It’s more or less a nostalgic experience for him and other members from that grand era of steam. I hope to get other regions on the layout in the future. Thanks for watching. Regards, Caleb

    There seems to be an ice cream van parked in your club room!

    • @CalebsRailFilms
      @CalebsRailFilms  3 роки тому

      An ice-cream van you say? What gives you that idea, Steve? The great big air-con unit you see is needed on the hot days during the summer in South Australia. It can get to over 45'C on some days. Imagine being in a room with no AC coming through? Couldn't think of anything worse lol, haha.

    Could do without the "music" and the chatter, so we can hear the trains.

    • @CalebsRailFilms
      @CalebsRailFilms  3 роки тому +4

      Thank you for your feedback, Andy. Most appreciative. I did what I could do to drown out the chatter with a secondary audio channel but I can only do so much as this was our club meeting. I have every intention to keep sharing these videos with the public as these layouts are something to be admired and shared with across the globe.
      My intention this year, with COVID restrictions permitting in South Australia, to film on non-club meet days to reduce the chatter, however, this is not always possible. Your feedback is valued and noted. You can hear the trains as they pass by the camera but I fully understand your concerns with this.
      Sometimes I need to make compromises on some films which is always the hardest to except. Just working with the limitations of what I can produce with what I have in this instance. Most people have enjoyed the overall presentation but I concur with your thoughts and criticisms. Thank you for speaking your mind. It means the world to me on things I can improve on for future films.
      Take care. Kindest regards, Caleb
