Hey Darwin, it's Guys.
I just almost tinkled...🤣😭
Hey Guys! 😂
😁👍
Hahaha
Hey y’all, Dixie here.
Authentic dude, hiking the way he wants, values the journey!! 👍
❤️🔥
1,320 miles NOBO on the AT. Your videos were very helpful on my success thus far.

tattooing the cdt on the third leg is gonna hurt like a mother...
Humans only have two legs

Darwin isn’t human
I actually loled and I'm a very deadpan guy, have your upvote
He’s got a lot of tattoos for someone who’s not in to labels.
Hey Darwin! Another Hiker from Germany here, thank you so much for your videos! I'm about to start my first three day trip tomorrow (only been doing day hikes till now) and I'm so excited and nervous at the same time!
Have a Great Hike!
I spent 30 days in the wind river range and it is so so incredible!! You will love it
I’m in awe of you long distance through hikers over in the US. I can do a few days here in the UK and I’m ready for home! Your national parks are absolutely stunning and inspiring. Good luck on your trip mate :)
It's not all it's cracked up to be sometimes 😂😂
Am I allowed to reply on someone's else's video? Heck, I'm going to do it. Thanks for the comments about our Nat'l Parks. IMO they are absolutely best parts of the USA and they're my true love 🥰
I really appreciate your philosophy, your approach to what inspires you and the paths you are taking in mixed media and working with cottage country companies.
We wish you all the luck, and hope the hike is everything you want it to be and more.
Darwin, your perspective on “labels” is so important and resonates with me. I feel similarly and struggle to express those ideas.
You guys are being sensitive… oh wait, was that a label😬
@@DJ-kg6zq oh snap dude you got me
*mind explodes*
Hey man. It was super cool meeting you today. Thanks for the re-charge for the rest of the trail. Ricochet
Taking "Hike your own hike" to the most real!
I'm *so* happy to hear someone say they are excited to hike in NM. I live in Albuquerque--love NM--I think the lower part of NM (below Silver City) looks dull but everything else is wonderful. Been in all these areas, except the Gila (looking forward to)--though not hiking the CDT, particularly love Ghost Ranch area. I'll be happy to watch you.
We did a section in the Wind Rivers last year and this year we're doing 5 days through the Cirque of the Towers in August.
Me and my family are going to hike the cirque of the towers late July this year
Love your answers to the questions. You seem very genuine. I consider it an honor having met you and Snuggles at PCT Days (2020?). I think you and Snuggles had just hiked the Timberline Trail around Mt. Hood. Keep on Keepin' on. You Rock!
Oh thank you!
Makes perfect sense to me. You flow among the many currents of your life and are where you are supposed to be at any given time. For everything there is a season. Enjoy this hike and please take care 🙂 ❤.
Enjoy your adventure, stay safe 🙏 Looking forward to watching.
One of the fun things about Glacier is the camping and the fun people you get to meet. We always have good conversations and make new friends at camp so I hope you'll be able to have time to do that.
To help me for a hike, I will load my backpack and get on my treadmill. I know it doesn't simulate the hills and all but it helps with endurance. I really enjoy your videos.
Have you ever done a elementary school assembly? I'd love to have you come to my class and talk about the outdoors, National Parks, gear, -anything to excite this generation about the outdoors. If you have read "Last Child in the Woods", you know what I'm talking about.
So looking forward to watching your videos on the CDT. I watched the one you did a couple of years ago heading North, I was interested in seeing how you dealt with the sun and lack of water on-trail. I'm not familiar with the CDT North of Silver City - so am interested in seeing all of that. I hope all goes well and that the fires and smoke don't cause problems.
Glad to see you're postponing to Alberta trails, re covid restrictions amd comsiderations. Though I am Canadian and I'm looking forwart to when you hike here. 💚
Good luck man!
Thanks Brother! ❤️🔥
Another upcoming podcast with Darwin?
Heck yeah. Stay safe on your hike Darwin. ✌️👍
Thank You! ❤️
I can completely understand how you feel. It's not about the labels or the certificates, it's all about finding yourself and truly becoming at peace within one soul.
So much appreciate your honesty, good luck, happy trails and I'm looking forward to seeing your adventure. Take care.
"in bocca al lupo" as we say in Italy "good luck" for your CDT hike Darwin :-)
Green shirt with buttons is back :)
oh yeah... the WINDs are absolutely amazing. Enjoy!
So 4-5 months is taking your time. Wow! You’re an amazing hiker. GL
Good luck to you Darwin. Utah is going to be blazing by late fall and I hope that doesn’t effect your journey!
I hope Utah doesn't effect my journey too, since the CDT doesn't even come close to the state...
Same thing here, going back to hike with my friend in Colombia, last time i've seen him was in 2012
I can't wait!
Good Stuff man. You dont need to explain your hiking to anyone. We either come along for the ride or not. You do you. Stay real!
Ah, the Winds! The most beautiful mountains on earth in my eyes.
Thank you Darwin for sharing this adventure with all of us.
Good Luck on this hike Darwin, enjoy the trail, dont make a job of it. And take care of that knee..
Thanks, will do!
Great Q&A Darwin! I enjoyed the part about how you condition yourself. I section hike some of the River to River Trail here in southern Illinois here and there and it can be pretty tough. While nothing near the mega trails you have done, I’d eventually like to thru-hike the R2R but I want to do it right so your advice is great advice! Good luck and look forward to seeing those videos!
I'm really looking forward to your adventure. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks dude for everything!! My favorite thing about doing a trail is commitment. I did a few trails this spring that challenged me enough to have to remember that I did it to myself and if I really need someone to come for me, then I made the wrong decision. I was on trail in June and was feeling ready to give up. I reminded myself that I did it to myself and either I press on or scare the bejesus out of the family. I pressed on. 12% grade plus.
I feel so much better knowing that Darwin is starting the hike with 20 pounds, fully loaded. My average weight is 30 pounds. 10 pounds extra can seem like a lot but it feels good being close-ish.
I'm liking the vids getting a little more in line with the podcasts re commentary and self expression etc. G'day from Australia.
Never knew you had a podcast man. Going to subscribe now!!
You should be even more excited for the Bob Marshall wilderness!!
Having done a few hike this season already that my heart wasn't 100% in, I get it. Glad you found the thing that made you want to do the CDT.
Yoo man! I can feel your excitement through the screen. I work at National Parks (Xanterra) for a living, I did glacier back in 18 on the Many Glacier side. I actually found out about you because I’m working in Grand Canyon and I went to your film showing in flag a couple years ago. Anyways, To say you’re in for a treat is a HUGE understatement. I’ve also had more Grizz encounters in glacier then I ever did anywhere else, combined. I hope that helps you sleep at night. Haha!
Have a crazy awesome time man.
Just became a Patron! I’ve watched your content for years and it feels good to be able to contribute, even in such a small way. $5 a month is a small price to pay for what you give the hiking community and I only wish I’d signed up sooner. Now, to listen to the backlog of First Cup pods! Happy trails, man!
Welcome Aboard & Thank You for the Support!!! ❤️
#cheesedickarmy
Can’t wait to see your hike on here! You inspired me to hike the Tahoe Rim Trail last summer!
Nice! I hope you had a Killer Hike!
It'll be interesting comparing your pictures/videos of Glacier National Park to 35mm slides my Mom took in the early 50's
About the last question's answer: that's why I love you!
Hey Darwin, It's Gals! Watch out for those bears up there!
😂😂😂
Hey Gals!
@@SteffenThomsen only do that because he always says "hey guys"
That’s the same as telling a surfer to watch out for sharks. Nothings happened to them, so they think nothing will happen lol
@@DJ-kg6zq he said he is taking bear spray for the first time ever. He's hiking prime grizzly country, sounds like he's being cautious.
Your CDT motivations made complete sense to me. IMO better to hike a trail because you're excited for the experience than to hike it in order to reach an arbitrary milestone (even if it's a very cool and impressive one).
Aww man!! I can wait to here you from the trail! So excited for you!!!
God speed !
Glacier NP is my favorite! You're going to love it.
Best wishes. Looking forward to your sharing your life on the trail.
Enjoy your hike Darwin! And I hope you don't run into any problems because of this draught and record breaking temperatures lately. It's hell out there!
Love your answer on why your hiking the CDT now. My husband and I are bikepacking the GDMBR from Whitefish to Silverthorne in a couple days. Planning the logistics for the ride was way easier than for a hiker. Total respect for the hikers. Have you ever thought of doing the GDMBR?
Could you make a video talking about strengthening your knees for a thru hike
From a person who goes every year, it'll be interesting to see your take on Glacier N.P., besides it's obvious beauty of course! I think some of the trails I'll be going on overlap the CDT, will try to remember to keep an eye out for long bearded guy :-)
Great vid Darwin! It will be cool to watch as u head south.
Watch out for that Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever! My bff from Montana got hit last year and her husband this year. Scary stuff.
NOTED! 😳
When I heard you talking about the deserts of Wyoming and the eventual warm areas in New Mexico, I was wondering if you've ever looked into a lighter colored clothing to stay cooler? I'm also in arizona, and even on cool days, as you know, the sun can be brutal, so I did a quick experiment.
On a 71° day this past winter, I left a white hiking shirt and a dark blue hiking shirt out in the sun for 15 minutes and measured them; the white shirt was 86°, the dark blue shirt was 107°. I mean we all know this from our experiments for science class as kids, but I had no idea the there could be a 21° difference on a cool day, and as someone who gets more overheated, switching to white or very light colored shirts has really helped me stay cool on sunny days.
When he gets to New Mexico it will be cool. The best time to hike New Mexico
@@celestetaylor1751 I'm not sure what temp you mean, but as I said, on a 71 degree day in Arizona (pretty cool), my dark shirt was 107 degrees (not cool at all). That's the point in the sunny southwest; a cool day can still have brutal sun, and light-colored clothing can help a great deal keeping one's temp closer to the actual ambient temperature.
Way to be your own man.....to do things for YOUR reasons, not because you follow the prevailing winds. To be known as a Triple Crown achiever is fine, but not because so many others have done the same. This is why I like to watch your channel.....not because you got your sheepskin like so many others. Another well done video. Looking forward to your next. Thanks for sharing.
Can't wait for the moment when Darwin and IBTAT pass each other.
They B Tat!
Good luck and have fun, enjoy!!!!
i can’t wait for the updates! have fun darwin
Thanks Darwin
Your experiences teach me to be a more experienced hiker
Thanks for your challenges & errs, they become my advantages. Ha, ha
Big +1 to strength training to reduce the chance of back/hip/knee/etc injuries. I didn't hike much during quarantine but I was able to exercise with weights at home (deadlifts, cleans, presses, etc). I was worried my legs would be jello from sitting around for a year but they worked just fine, and I really think the exercises helped a ton. Felt like my step had way more pep than I expected it to.
I love to hear you are planning to take your time. I always wonder watching thru hiker videos if there's a reason for many hikers seeming to be in a rush...i assume from what I've gathered that it's just many different reasons from supplies to how long it takes to hike so far in general and how much that takes out of regular life back home etc. I'm still a bit of a noob to long thru hiking trail stuff.
All the best man. Happy Hiking!
Thanks! ❤️
Dude I love it! And it's funny how the outdoors is gaining in popularity since you started your content... you're really an inspiration for people!
Liked those short clips of Juice and Follow Bigfoot, nice to see those guys!! I assume they will be joining you for sections at some point? Guess we'll find out. Anyway, all the best to you, Darwin. What a way to start out, with Glacier NP!!
We shall see... Stay Tuned! 😉
Keep doing you... I'm enjoying the ride/travel..
Happy for you, Darwin! Glacier is awesome!
Glacier looks amazing
Btw Darwin, make sure you stop at shadow cliff eco lodge/hostel in grand lake CO! Great folks and great place
Enjoying your Lone peak 5's. I love mine

Looking forward to seeing these videos about the CDT! I have well-loved your AZT documentary, so I’m eager to see what the CDT brings to your perspective.
Looking forward to your next video. You are such an inspiration for me and I think a lot of others 🤙🙂 also looking forward to your journey, both the psysical and the mental 🙂 stay safe 🚶♂️

Thank you, I will!
How are you going to combat the insane heat in Montana right now?
Looking forward to your hike. If I can do anything for you in Montana, let me know!
Thank You!
Hey man, it makes total sense!
I can't wait for your gear video!
If I get a chance to listen to some music when on my hiking trips I always choose music like Delta Parole or Guns N Roses, the rawness is the best with nature.
Good content darwin like I explained to u 2 months ago u shud do and talk but what your passionate about, looking forward to your podcast, n journel
I appreciate that! ❤️
When the British coastal path opens, will you come and do the 2700 miles thru-hike
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Don’t forget about our small section of Idaho!
Ahhh, the CDT... Hope you like road walks man! 😂🙈
Yep, just like almost every other trail in the West that isn’t the AT 😉
Awesome cant wait to hear about your CDT SoBo!
Awesomeness!!!
Nat Park Geek 🤓 too!
