I find Garden tours a bit overwhelming. What about dividing up your yard into sections, like north, south east and west. Or others. Then it might be simpler for you and not as much of a time commitment for you and Aaron.
Always love Q&A day, learn things every time. I think on April 1st (April Fool's Day) you should switch roles and have Aaron do a video and you do the camera. Wouldn't that be fun! I agree with the others, don't worry if everything isn't perfect in your garden for a tour, we love seeing every aspect. 💚

For me, living in a big city and not having a garden, it is very hard to imagine exactly how much work a garden is - especially a size like yours. Love you guys - I live my garden dreams through you
I know this may sound backwards in your head. But I love you MORE when you show the areas that aren’t perfect or aren’t completed yet. Nobody’s garden is ever 100%, so it comforting to see when a very seasoned gardener shows some flaws. 💛

I'm in Australia, and even though our seasons are topsy turvy, and I can't buy a lot of the plants you show...I have learnt so much about design and texture for the garden. I always love watching a planting video, where you explain what plants are where and your thinking behind what you are planting in that spot. For Michaela and anyone else limited to growing in containers: if you’re on a budget you can use 5gal buckets from any home improvement store and even storage totes. Just be sure to drill in plenty of drainage holes. You can pretty them up with plastic-adhering spray paint, too, if you want. For several years I had to grow my vegetable garden in containers and it worked out quite well. I typically had 2-4 buckets and a storage tote going. I added a layer of pine cones in the bottom of the containers to help with their drainage and just made sure to give everything plenty of water. I referred to Square Foot Gardening and Companion Planting to plant quite intensively in my storage tote each season.
Thats how I did my tomatoes last year! As I am limited on space as well as have become disabled. So a majority of my produce gardening I do in comtainers now.

June Smart I haven’t tried it with candles, but with wax warmers I like to gently warm the container and use cotton pads to soak up and wipe out the wax...doesn’t run the risk of damaging the wax bowl. Again, I’m not sure how it would translate to candleholders.
I loved that you showed that area next to your house (during the tour) that was all torn apart! Cause I know you are planning on putting a moon garden there, it's nice to be able actually see a project from start to completion. Love to be able to see the process of when you put the new walk way in there. Hope you can show us the whole process of creating this new garden space!!!
For the container garden... if you're looking for function over looks, I use my local home improvement 5 gallon buckets... drill holes in the bottoms, fill, plant and enjoy... herbs, tomatoes, bell peppers, flowers... works like a charm and I'm going on 5 years with the same buckets!!

Hi Laura so excited you are coming to Boston!! In regards to “leggy” heuchera. You can break/cut off the old branch and plant it in a moist soil burying the steam in the soil up to the first leaf. That is the easiest way to propagate the heucheras.
I'm so much with Aaron, I'd love watching garden tours on a regular schedule just to see how your garden is doing as the season progresses. Also, I know as a perfectionist myself I want the garden to be tidy and clean all the time, but the fact that it isn't is healthy for me, it teaches me to understand I can't control everything. That being said, I get why you get stressed about the tours, you feel like your garden needs to be perfect, clean, in full bloom and so on, but rest assured we gardeners understand and love watching your garden progress and grow, even if it's not perfect or ready to show.
Laura, can you maybe throw in the next video that some herbs are used as host plants by certain butterfly species? I get a ton of black swallowtail caterpillars on my herbs every year and I let them eat what they want. My herbs always grow back, but its a shame to know people spray the butterfly cats because they don't realize that their herb plant is a host plant!
Laura, On our raised beds we used hardware cloth in the bottom to keep out moles and gophers, then the the compost , etc. etc. Our plants flourished. Your Seattle video/show was phenomenal. Smiles. Loved it. Gorgeous color

If you add stretchers between the legs of your table, then you could pop slats in and have two good size shelves under neath it. Empty pots, dirt, fertilizer, seed flats, etc could all store underneath and free up your greenhouse space.
Laura, when i have heuchera with ugly stems (i think they all do in 3-5 years) i dig it out and separate to many smaller pieces (even without roots) and plant them to shadow wet place in my garden and basically create out of 1 plant many. If not to cover that steam- heuchera most likely will die during the cold winter (i am in zone 5-6). Never heard about cutting it to the ground completely (this depends on the plant condition - it can also kill the plant)
Please do more garden tours and show us the "behind the scenes" I would love to see more of the work in progress things, like when you filled in the pond! Those work in progress things are what inspire me to go out and do my own projects.
YES PLEASE plant a Bleeding Heart and do a general info and maintenance video!! I planted one last spring and love it but don’t know how to prune it etc. By the end of the season my plant had a ton of suckers (don’t know if that’s what they’re called) and it looked a little wild. I just left it alone and figured I’d take care of it in spring.
Once it’s finished flowering, cut it right to the ground and it will flush back, and it may possibly bloom again but if not at least you’ll have some healthy foliage

Hi Laura and Aaron. I love your videos. They are so professional. My “yard” is a great deal smaller than yours, so instead of put a few plants of the same type together, I just put one. It is still pretty though. Thankyou for all you both do for us. You’re amazing, from the UK
plastic/resin planter pots have a triangle at the bottom with a number in it. The number tells you whether it's safe to plant edibles in it. Some pots aren't safe for food growing/herbs etc. You can look up the number code on line.
Laura I have a square large planter on wheels (plastic). I put my herbs in it "all of them" and need to pull it into the full shade once in awhile here in Minnesota because of the rain. It may stay there for a couple of days sometime then I pull it out again for sun. They do fine..... sometimes I forget them there for more like a week and because it's cooler in the shade they seem to like it. Never had a problem and I love it right next to my kitchen on the deck for ease of use.
Just FYI on replacing the candle within the candle holder, instead of hot water I usually just put mine in the freezer. It makes the wax shrink enough where it just pops right out of the votive. Handy tip!
I have a question for you that's been bothering me. I had an elderly man tell me the other day when I was buying a bag of soil that I'm buying a bag of human sewer sludge mixed with wood chips, I thought he was joking but after looking it up I see now what he was talking about and now I'm concerned about growing vegetables and fruit in potting soil, seems very confusing tho, it supposedly doesnt have to be labeled? Idk, help!
I think it would be nice to see a citrus tree pruning. How do you and when do you suggest to prune a dwarf lemon tree? When should someone re pot a dwarf lemon tree?
I meant to mention this in the flower candle vid. I watched a video where flowers were put in a table. They used fresh flowers but dipped them in epoxy and hung them to dry before they poured the table top. I think this would seal the moisture in the flower so they look good in the epoxy for ever. I have not tried this yet but I'm in the process of getting the stuff to build my own flower dinning table.
When our kids were little friends, also with small children, from out of town would come to visit. After one visit she asked "do your kids ever fight." No, I said...of course they fight, they're just so happy to have visitors they'd rather play than fight. 😃
Gardens are always work and progress... We really don't care if parts of the garden are «a mess» in tours. It's real life and it's fun to see the progress.

Regarding the silver 'shell' around tealights, Partylite makes tealights with a clear plastic shell that virtually disappear in a holder. I think they would be perfect in your pressed flower candle holders.

Suggestion for the candles - Put a bit of water into the container and then drop the candle in, so that the candle is floating. It will burn down to almost nothing, just dump out the bit of candle and water when the candle is used up.
Could you point me to your videos about or where you mention in a video about your composts? And maybe when to or when not to compost? I was really surprised one could add food scraps right into a flowerbed, that this also has benefits.
Pressure treated wood does not always have holes in them. The wood that we get that is pressure treated is a little green because they use copper to treat the wood. I believe new pressure treated wood is safe for vegetable gardens they use to be toxic but now they are pretty safe.

WAX REMOVAL IN CANDLEHOLDER: Pop it in the freezer until hard, flick the frozen wax out with a knife blade. EASY!

Yes, diatomaceous earth kills the catapillars too!

plastic/resin planter pots have a triangle at the bottom with a number in it. The number tells you whether it's safe to plant edibles in it. Some pots aren't safe for food growing/herbs etc. You can look up the number code on line.

Laura I have a square large planter on wheels (plastic). I put my herbs in it "all of them" and need to pull it into the full shade once in awhile here in Minnesota because of the rain. It may stay there for a couple of days sometime then I pull it out again for sun. They do fine..... sometimes I forget them there for more like a week and because it's cooler in the shade they seem to like it. Never had a problem and I love it right next to my kitchen on the deck for ease of use.
You need to write a book!features all your garden and knowledge.
Just FYI on replacing the candle within the candle holder, instead of hot water I usually just put mine in the freezer. It makes the wax shrink enough where it just pops right out of the votive. Handy tip!
I also use the hot water idea and a paper towel to wipe out the wax.

I have a question for you that's been bothering me. I had an elderly man tell me the other day when I was buying a bag of soil that I'm buying a bag of human sewer sludge mixed with wood chips, I thought he was joking but after looking it up I see now what he was talking about and now I'm concerned about growing vegetables and fruit in potting soil, seems very confusing tho, it supposedly doesnt have to be labeled? Idk, help!
I think it would be nice to see a citrus tree pruning. How do you and when do you suggest to prune a dwarf lemon tree? When should someone re pot a dwarf lemon tree?
She’s done quite a few videos on citrus, not sure about pruning but she’s definitely done repotting

I used cedar fence pickets from HD for my raised beds. They were very reasonable and people just don't think to use them.

I meant to mention this in the flower candle vid. I watched a video where flowers were put in a table. They used fresh flowers but dipped them in epoxy and hung them to dry before they poured the table top. I think this would seal the moisture in the flower so they look good in the epoxy for ever. I have not tried this yet but I'm in the process of getting the stuff to build my own flower dinning table.
When our kids were little friends, also with small children, from out of town would come to visit. After one visit she asked "do your kids ever fight." No, I said...of course they fight, they're just so happy to have visitors they'd rather play than fight. 😃
Gardens are always work and progress... We really don't care if parts of the garden are «a mess» in tours. It's real life and it's fun to see the progress.

Regarding the silver 'shell' around tealights, Partylite makes tealights with a clear plastic shell that virtually disappear in a holder. I think they would be perfect in your pressed flower candle holders.
You were looking for white plants for your Moon Garden - you could put a white Bleeding Heart there!
If you fold the cut end of the wire cloth under itself you can staple that down and not have sharp edges

Suggestion for the candles - Put a bit of water into the container and then drop the candle in, so that the candle is floating. It will burn down to almost nothing, just dump out the bit of candle and water when the candle is used up.
Could you point me to your videos about or where you mention in a video about your composts? And maybe when to or when not to compost?
I was really surprised one could add food scraps right into a flowerbed, that this also has benefits.
Pressure treated wood does not always have holes in them. The wood that we get that is pressure treated is a little green because they use copper to treat the wood. I believe new pressure treated wood is safe for vegetable gardens they use to be toxic but now they are pretty safe.

Hi Laura! I love your channel! My front flowerbeds face north and are more shaded than sunny. Can you do a video on shade gardens or afternoon sun plants? I would love to plant some beautiful flowers but at a lost of what to plant!
