2022 Mercedes-Benz E200 Avantgarde Review - Germanic Calm

With every other car launched today talking about lap-times, performance numbers and 0-100km/h records, it's getting more and more difficult to look for a companion that puts the emphasis on serenity & calm above all else.
Mercedes-Benz, the pioneer of the motorcar, has done just that with their E200 Avantgarde. Upgraded for 2022 with aesthetics in and out, the E200 promises only to soothe and cool after a stressful day at work, and glide you to every destination as effortlessly as possible.

About the front design, I personally think it looks far more elegant than the AMG version for which you have to pay extra. For a car meant to geacefully transport you in supreme comfort, this is the best suited design, not the agressive racecar style that doesn't fit it.
Without it being a too much of a problem however, The only real drawback I find is that the options are far more expensive compared to other brands.... And adding some decent ones you quickly get around 70.000 euros range of price....Panoramic sunroof ( here in France) costs 2000 euros..more than BMW or even VW charge for.... Some brands only charge half that price......Even if you pay for the premium pack, sunblinds in the rear are not included, you need to pay extra for them.
Rear side climate controls, ( Thermotronic option) you pay a lot for...although I have it in my VW Passat for far cheaper.... It should be shame at this level of prestige not to have that as standard and make the car look cheap for the passengers... I don't know about semiautonomous stuff, for which you have to pay extra, ( I personally don't fancy it too much)... But side courtain airbags in the rear are for me more important for safety, and they are not standard... You need to pay extra for them too... At this level of price and prestige, I think they should have been standard....
Totally agree with the steering wheel problem, it looks great but the lack of physical buttons in many car brands is a very bad trend... Sadly the next model that is soon about to come, will have that as well as no more buttons for the central console.... Like the Audi A8 has... Not only unpleasant but in my opinion, having to look down to a screen in order to change the temperature or play another track, is dangerous because instead of touching a button that you can feel , you need to look away from the road and on the screen. There have been accidents like that. It is a very bad trend in the automotive industry, cheaper to make than physical buttons...so they make cars cheaper increasing profit. Sadly, many consumers bought into that, thinking it's like advertised, more "modern" digital stuff, instead of a design flaw... Not only Mercedes but many other car brands do the same.
Other than that, I love this car... Still think to buy one ...

Oh they are going back to horizontal tail light? I wonder if the predecessor model have similar design. They messed up the exterior for E-Class starting from the 2016, a few generation inspired by previous model wouldn't look old
