I’m so early others might see my plea for all infantry Tau! You’re the master of guard and running them in any style. You’ve tasted victory with Tau so I know you can run them as all infantry like your guard! Please sir! I won’t stop begging until I see it!
I've thought about this a lot and i finally ended up admitting that it won't work (most likely) Don't get me wrong... You can definitely do it and have fun, but there's simply not enough support for this kind of list in T'au. The problem of course mostly being the lack of durability while having no way of bringing units back on top. That and even with 3 pathfinders with rail rifles, 3x6 stealth suits with fusion blasters and shadowsun, you'll struggle dealing with heavy stuff. Breachers do work for sure, but they really like Devilfish (which goes against the whole infantry only idea). You may be able to do it starting off with pathfinders, stealth suits, shadowsun and 3 20man kroot blobs with a shaper for screening, but i doubt there's enough there :/. Guard actually has much better tools to do it. On another note, i don't think Mordian has near close enough to the models required to pull this of. Edit: sample list 3 x breachers with fireblade (1 with exemplar) 3 x pathfinders (1 with darkstrider) 3 x 6 stealth suits 2 x strike team with ethereals (1 with through unity devastation) 3 x 20 kroot with kroot shapers 1 x 5 vespid 1 x Shadowsun

Im super interested in this idea. Ive made mock up lists but im not a big tau player yet (unbuilt 2500 point army) i have no idea how to play them cause i main space marines

I've been playing Scions since 2018 thanks to this channel...I can say it's always a rollercoaster of emotions while playing with these boys but eveytime I come out having a blast!

Same. I’ve got a bunch of space marines, imperial agents, and scions and plan to add some knights. I can’t wait for my Inquisitorial Flame Car (Hellhound proxy) to arrive. I figured this way, I’ll end up with 800+ points that can fill in any Imperium Army.

orks are feeling pretty powerful. I used my 1000 pts of orks for the first time. I won agaisnt an opponent that usually beats me when I use imperial guard.
Can't help thinking if you brought a Demolisher and a Tank Commander with a Demolisher turret instead of the Vultures the Ork fight would have gone smoother. Great Bat Rep 💪
I really hope they dial the cost in fliers back by about 30-40 per unit. I really want to play my airborne Scions. I personally am not a fan of the tauroxes (taurexi?). I feel like valks with lascannons and hellstrikes add the right kind of punch to the list. I also think for Scions that the rocket/missile load out just fits better than the gatling guns. Especially since it can fire 2 hellstrikes per shooting phase. I would love to go triple Valk, triple vulture, battleline Scions and maybe a couple of the inquisitors (Coteaz and Draxus probably). Kind of a pipe dream though as long as those fliers are about 200 pts each. Also one sad thing I noticed about the attachees is that the fleet commander only buffs things with aircraft. That means if you take any as hover, they lose aircraft and no longer synergize with him.
Hi Mordian, I was wondering if you could publish a video where you adapt your fully narrative themed lists to be more competitive while still maintaining the theme. For example, instead of Pure Scion you mix in some other guard that would be more competitive, while still maintaining the theme overall. Just a thought. Thank you, Ben from Canada
I'll be trying out this list which uses scions as the infantry: LSL 3x Tempestus Command Squad 1 platoon command squad 3 enginseer 1x infantry squad (20 guys, 2 plasma, 2 mortar teams) 3 x 5 man Scion squads 3 taurox prime 3 leman russ battle tanks ( El classico) 1 exterminator 1 manticore
I absolutely love these after action tournament reports but I’ve noticed a trend of games not reaching past round 4 or even round 3. Is that a result of the army or is there a player element there? (That’s not an accusation - I’d like to take the Guard to a tournament next year but not if I never get to finish games!)
I'm curious to hear how'd you improve this list after your experience. Maybe switch the double vultture for a Shadowsword :P ? Though considering the terrain, maybe 2~3 medium tanks? PS: That frost themed demon army looks gorgeous.
I wonder if the tanks wouldn't become a liability. They wouldn't have the ability to strike the enemy where they were weakest. Maybe some of the forgeworld planes would fill it out better. Some of them are a lot cheaper than the Vultures, too.
Krak missiles , I keep hoping they would be better one day. For pure scions though that is the only way. Also it used to be we could hope on some melta guns, melta needs some buffing imo.
A meltagun within 6" of a vehicle needing a 5+ on 1 dice to do anything (in an edition with a lot of invulnerable saves as well) is nuts to me as a returning player.
Great write up again :) but for me personally thaf terrain is way to much. I play speed waaagh orks so those boards would pretty much invalidate my army before I even roll a dice 😂...
I started running this list myself but I swapped out the chimera command squad for creed and cadians. Plus the flyers went out for a shadow sword because damn fighting tanks sucked
Cool army, but I dont like new transports. Bring back rolling 6 to wound after destroying transport. Hey Hey Ho Ho, Invincible taxi need to go. As for demon battle, big monsters dont play objectives well.
I normally try not to be that guy, but if all the tournaments around me used terrain like that, I would be sorely tempted to show up to each one with artillery spam.

Arent the units that disembark from a destroyed transport automatically battle shocked and so wouldnt be able to control an objective?
When you bring back a Scion squad via reinforcements strat, can you deep strike it or do you must set it as strategic reserve unit?

Units in strategic reserves can always use deep strike if they have the rule

Probably not. It shares the slot with the missile launcher which is vastly superior in most cases

they're dedicated transports so you can bring 6.
You can take more than 3 (6 is the max) if you’re taking 6 appropriate battle line units

Don't play 40k anymore but always check in whenever you do scions (my last true army). Got to say though UKTC terrain...looks like ass.
