Lohre Farm is located just east of Crown, Minnesota. Sarah and I purchased our 10 acre homestead in 2017 and have grown from a small garden to just a few acres of sustainable food growth. With the help of our children, we grow a variety of fruits and vegetables.
There are many animals on Lohre Farm, and with there help we can improve our soil health, all while producing farm fresh food to eat. We have chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. All of these animals assist in making our property more valuable and enjoyable.
We Believe God provides us with all of the natural resources needed for a wholesome life.

Tell us about your animals. What breeds of ducks are you thinking about getting? 🦆
Thank you so much. I’m a new duck mama and I’m trying to learn as much as possible.
Awesome. Thanks for watching. Agree, we need more videos about the ducks.
Great video! We got 6 ducks last spring. I was kind of opposed to getting them because of how messy they are and their need for water. We are in Montana, so we have to haul water to them 6 months out of the year. We have had and still have chickens, but I am a convert now! I LOVE our ducks so much! They are so fun to watch and listen to! And now they have started to lay eggs. Yay!
That’s so awesome. Yes Ducks can be a bit of extra work, but dang are they entertaining. Thankfully with the pond, they can have water almost everyday of the year.
I have ducks they not messy at all only for water they better than the chicken In the proprety
Very circumstantial. Messy with water, for sure. But way less destructive to the property compared with chickens.
Duck, Chicken, Parrot, and Pigeon are my Best Favourite Pet,s Bird,s. 👌👌👍👍
Thanks. I'm doing as much research as possible. I live in the topics. Chickens are too destructive in my garden. Learned the hard way with the neighbors chickens. Building a pond for my dogs and ducks. Virtually no predators in my area. Wild dogs maybe but my dogs do a great job keeping them away. Are they okay with 8 -10 hours outside a day? I'd keep them outside all day but I don't want to encourage wild dogs.
Our Ducks and Chickens are out on their own from sunup to sunset everyday. We have many air predators, but thankfully none have ever been a problem.
Thank you. Not a whole lot of good duck info on UA-cam.
That's good to know. Thank You. Any other questions you had that you wished we would have answered?
@@LohreFarm Yes, do you think it’s ok for sibling Anconas to have babies? I have a male a female that are 4 weeks old and are from the same parents. I would like to hatch out some eggs eventually. Worse case I will just eat the eggs.
Great video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge as I am a newbie duck owner 😊
Absolutely. Thanks for taking time to watch!
I always enjoy your videos
That's really awesome to hear! Have a beautiful weekend. ❤️
Great video...Thanks
Thank you!!
Thank you :)
You are absolutely welcome. Thanks for watching the video!
Great content. Thanks.
You’re welcome. Thank You!
I'm hooked on ducks too. I had to make a cage for my ducks. So chain link fencing over the top. I have the gammet of predators, skunks, racoons ,fox, Coyotes, and hawks. Oh and mountain lions too. I lost a lot of ducks to predators.
Ducks are the funniest. Protecting them can be difficult. We have certainly lost a few over the years. not fun.
Hi im thinking of getting some ducks this year but i also have those predators except lions so i would love to hear more about your coop and how you raise them
@christopherdennis6918 If there is something specific you’d like to know just ask, otherwise we have quite a few different videos talking about them and explaining how we raise them. Cheers! Thanks for watching! ❤️
I have no idea why i'm watching it, but i enjoy it =D
Haha, we’ll, thanks for watching! Have a great rest of the day.
One day you might want a pet duck
What do you do for water over night or in the winter when it is too cold for them to be outside?
They prefer to be outside no matter the temp. But those electric dog dishes seem to work pretty good for water.
👍👍
👍
Can I raise ducklings to put in the wild? We have a large pond out back with wild ducks back there occasionally and live on a nature preserve.
I’ve given this a lot of thought before. Our first ever ducks we had we tried. It went real bad. Predator took them all out in about a week. So 2 things to really consider. 1. Predation is going to be a major challenge, and 2. They will become dependent on you for food long before they are ready to be “wild”.
How do you get them to come in to the coop from the pond at night?
@@Tstark-xi4vc They LOVE peas. We feed them peas all the time. Anytime we walk out with the bag, and they see it, they come running.
My ducks are slobs but they’re awesome
I’d just like to mention how loud the females can be at times and my male Lenny try’s to bite my feet
haha that's awesome. Yep them females are noisy.
