- Still in search of Hitler's lost gold here in Germany. One day we will find it! While looking for that we stumbled on things we rather not find, unexploded WW2 bombs and grenades.
Luckily there were also some things that are actually on our wishlist. Personal and equipment used by German soldiers during WW2. Looking at how many unexploded material we found, it must have been a raging battlefield.

-Do you report things found to the authorities?
Yes, all nasty things found like UXO's and finds that could be important from an archaeology perspective are reported to the local authorities.
-Do you sell finds?
I am a collector myself so I hardly sell relics. But if I do then I'll post it on the social media pages or think about becoming a Patron, because I'll share finds with my Patrons (check out the Patreon website for details).
-How do you gain permission for metal detecting?
Check out local laws regarding metal detecting and get permission from the landowner. Or hook up with a local metal detecting club in the area you would like to detect and get your information from them. (I stopped responding to questions like this all together, I'm not google..)
-Can I come with you?

The US Marine Corps used the button guide in world War 1 and either the British adopted it or we did. I used one similar on my dress blue uniform.

Awesome! All of those bombs…wow! Do you have to report the ammo also? Or is the ammo not a problem. That cartridge belt was in great shape compared with others I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing your adventure. Look forward to more! Stay healthy .

The belts for an MG42 and MG34 are the same as far as I know. I just bought some to load up some MG drum magazines for display. Hard to find ammo now days. I should have bought it a few years ago when you could get it everywhere. All I can get is the surplus corrosive kind right now. Too much of a hassle to clean your rifle after using and I do shoot my K98 once and a while. You guys are missing all the fun 😉

Pretty amazing and I always wonder the situation of how the things ended up where they did. One could guess a MG position with perhaps small artillery support, then you find the British item.

Cool finds my friends, I've come across old shells out in the California desert sometimes and they are as good as the day they were fired. For what ever reason they didn't go off I make a big circle around them, many have anti-handeling devices in them. Love watching your channel. 👍👍👍👍👍❤🇺🇸

Hey Mike , When you guys come across any rounds or mg belts that are encrusted together , take them home and soak them in automatic transmission fluid . That way they will come apart easily with no damage from pulling them apart . Let them soak for days if you have a really nice belt . Use the red type of fluid (dextron) . You can get old fluid for free at most tranny shops . It works great to unstick anything you want to cleanup or disassemble . The crustier the piece is , longer you let it soak . It works great to unseize emergency brake cables too .

Great seeing guys doing guys stuff. 😊 Anyway, the aluminium (lid) looks like the top off a thermos container or maybe a artillery or rocket tube container? The button "jack" is quite common in the UK, usually made of brass and you see them quite often in British antique and militaria shops. Its slipped around the button and stops brasso ( brass cleaner) getting on your jacket.
Gotcha. interesting item. Didn't knew those existed but since I don't find much British related items, these are new to me. German forces didn't have to polish their buttons.

New Jersey is strict also. Need a Permit to buy ammo and long guns. A Separate permit is needed for hand guns. I have both. Background checks, fingerprints, etc. And some guns and ammo are illegal no matter what. Open or concealed carry is illegal unless active duty police, security, detective. So strictly home defense, long gun hunting, target ranges. And its illegal to keep them loaded in your own home! But go one state over to Pennsylvania and its all legal with some permits IF you’re a resident. Its BS!

Never hear of it. Did read stories of people blowing themselves up by taking these home and trying to deactivate them.

Someone bought a civil war cannon ball from ? He was going to sell it but decided to have it checked out. It was still live and had to be detonated by the bomb squad.

I'm constantly seeing dates from well before the war on dug-up ammo in these videos. They must have had HUGE stocks of at least some kinds of ammo before the war. It's really too bad the 8mm relic ammo can't be kept and deactivated. A waste of historical artifacts.

True, also the early made ammunition was made from the good solid brass. Later during the war they switched to crappy iron. We find those too but those are usually too far gone.

it is a hassle to report. Should be an easier way to do so but that's what you get for working with Government agencies.

The button polishing bar was usually made of brass and the soldier slipped it behind his buttons and it protected his uniform from the brass polish

It’s called a button stick , normally brass but due to shortages some were bakalite

Never been caught with it (simply don't take it with me) but can imagine there is a possibility they'll take you to court for it.

Button stick is British pre WW2 possibly WW1 older soldier? . WW2 button stick was more complicated design
So you think it's older than the 1940's? Maybe i came out of an old stock? Because unlike the German forces, I never heard of WW1 British veterans taking part in ww2 (except for the higher ranked Officers)
Sorry Iron Mike, did some research, the more complicated button stick was first issued 1917 and was still in use in 1970 when I enlisted, mine was dated 1956! The one you found was the economy pattern from WW2 when they were short of brass.
