Sharks are naturally curious, just like any other animal is, including us. One of the most misunderstood creatures, and only because media always portrays them as monsters 😢
Technically, Peter Benchley’s novel is the cause of that. So you can thank him for that. But then again, Benchley himself has said that he regrets writing Jaws after finding out more about sharks. In the end, people just need to be educated better and learn not to take most movies literally.
@@musicaldooder20 Stop blaming Peter Benchley and Steven Spielberg. U are blaming a movie and a book! Beyond ridiculous. The real culprit is a huge demand in Asian countries for shark fin soup. Worldwide shark fins fetch big money for commercial fisherman. The majority of dried shark fins are exported to China. This was happening before Jaws and after Jaws. The decline of sharks is rooted in commercial fishing, not a book/movie

What do you think this is, a harmless Nurse shark...that is a deadly Great white shark! Dive in a group: More eyes means more people to watch out for each other" Thank you Jesus for saving that child by diverting that shark away from him! 🙏🏿

@@ZalenaMoo Understandably, being attacked by a Great White would be devastating. But as anyone who spends time in the ocean or studying animals will tell you, your odds of being struck by lightning are higher than being attacked by one. Great Whites are REALLY uninterested in attacking humans. In every VERY RARE instance, it's always because someone is on a board or wearing a suit that makes them look like a seal when viewed from below. And since Great Whites attack from below, it's always because the shark just mistook who it was targeting. Even then, fatalities from Sharks are exceedingly rare.
@@theprinceoftides6836 100% wrong. People who don't get bitten are not lucky but people who gets bitten (70 a year and just about 5 of them are fatal so you see we are no food source to them) are extreme unlucky -.-
This is an amazing thing to see more so because that’s a juvenile great white and they aren’t necessarily known for being able to pull off of anything even resembling food. I think it’s more likely that as a juvenile he has not yet started hunting seals and that’s especially lucky for this young man. With juveniles it’s a little more of a risk!! Awesome kid!! Beautiful fish!!
Shark realized this was NOT a seal, but a human, so he moved away. They always attack humans bc of mistakes. They can sometimes be seen just watching divers or swimmers out of curiousity

Great White Sharks possess about 300 replaceable jagged razor sharp teeth in their lifetime which have such incredibly powerful bite force that can split your bigger thick surfboard into half. @@19Marksman89 you should probably make sure that you’re ABSOLUTELY sure of that… and while you’re doing that you should try to get an understanding of what the actual question is, how it could conceivably be proven or disproven, what the implications of either outcome would be, and who and what you are as a human, what it means to die, and if you’re actually prepared for that. Most people that say “there is no god” are saying what they’ve heard and what sits well in their hard hearts and dull thinking. Satan did that to you. God wants to wake you up. If you truly think all of life is an accident, you should think about the implications of that as well, in every direction, and if it even makes sense (hint: it doesn’t). Life is by design. There is a Designer… and He is also our Savior and Redeemer. An omnipotent, eternal being may not make sense in our finite minds… since we understand everything as having limits as well as a beginning and an end. But if the universe arose all on its own (which is itself a nonsensical notion), then it still would leave the question of what came before it and what… Who… pulled the trigger on the Big Bang. All pretty rudimentary questions. You should also ask yourself why you, as an atheist, are so bent on chiming in against people who believe in, acknowledge, and give glory to God? Also, why is it always the biblical God who gets attacked and who raises the ire of atheists like you and not Allah or some other lesser deity? Is it perhaps because it is literally true, and something in you, faintly, detects the penetrating reality of God… and that something in you knows that what God and His Word says about you is true (despite whether you want to believe it or not)? Doesn’t it seem very plausible that it is precisely because of the sin in your heart, which He confronts us with in His word, that that’s why you hate Him and deny Him. God’s Word to the world and Christ’s life and death and resurrection are literally His work to save you from that very state which you’re showing clear evidence of right now. He wants to save you so you can know your Maker and His everlasting love and peace.
The thing is sharks always want you to be in front it doesn't matter what intention of the shark is maybe it feels safer this way and it's actually fascinating that sharks seem to know where the front or back of humans is because we live in two completely different environments.
@@IAMdeborahkeys nope, that shark realised it was a human and that they don't taste good so left, there cute little curious guys that have a reputation for being cold-blooded Killers from movies
Sharks will typically approach their prey from behind and below. It keeps them away from the teeth of their victims (seals). That a shark can go from curiosity to attack with one powerful sweep of its tail makes this hard to watch and yet the fact the shark didn’t attack also shows they are not mindless attack machines. Easy to say from where I’m sat however.
No your absolutely right. I think what else might factor into what makes an attack fatal or not is probably how desperate the particular shark might be for a meal. A big pregnant female has to practically eat constantly to support both themselves and their pups. Therefore I bet their initial bites are more savage leaving their victims with far more severe wounds.
@@flyme2themoon720 I’m a firm believer that humans don’t belong in the territory of all marine life (in a perfect world, even research wouldn’t be done). Must of slept 3 hours or more because the beach looked hardly visible and then another bump to my rear again except much harder. I take a good look and it's a big shark. I then start paddling with my feet towards the beach and the shark turned away. Two hours later it was night time and took another 3 hours to get back to the beach. Was very scary.
@@84tigershark No I mean in the drone videos. Yes I can imagine. I live near Cape Cod and there is no opportunity for them to get this close because we have all the big boys and girls and the minute a spotter plane sees them everyones out the water for an hr or until they have left the area.
Everybody saying it is not its natural food so it changed its mind. Maybe that day he just wanted to see what it was splashing around. I prefer Coke but I will drink a Pepsi or Mountain Dew
Great white sharks are curious animals, so just because they are around does not mean that they will attack. The ocean is the sharks home so of course they will be there.
This to me is very interesting; We see the shark pursues boy from a greater depth and up until the surface. just close enough to see his leg or determine movement. If this is a great white, typical attack behavior would have been to launch from deep and hit prey hard like they do on seal pups. This shark senses the movement in water, investigates and turns away. There is something definitely going here within the sharks brain and intelligence to differentiate prey like that. What scares me is sharks that are mentally deranged, or cannot see their prey/ opportunity to feed clearly and launch an attack anyway. Very interesting
@@stillbreezing5330 that is simply untrue OMG, animals among the same species have different temperaments. Just because they aren’t “thinking” in a higher abstract sense they are still thinking, and this thinking can get “warped” just like in people. my aunt had a “ whip it”, idk what the breed is actually called but they look like tiny greyhounds, and it was abused and left in a cage for forever and even after being adopted and having free roam the little would walk circles. Even if where I’m he was going was a straight shot he’d throw a loop into his walk. Did that till the day he died. Animals have psychologies that are affected by environmental factors.
Sharks are naturally curious animals. They don't always want to eat and they just want to know what that foreign animal/object is. They're not trying to kill everything in sight like the media and movies portray them to be. They can also show affection to people that saved them from being wrapped in fishing line, rope or have hooks stuck in them.
They are only interested in case it's food imo. They aren't looking to play like dolphins., etc. Whether they are hungry enough to take a risk is another matter.

Normal Great White curiosity behavior. They swim around behind to look, notice one is a human. They become disinterested and swim away. Being bit by a great white is far far far lower chance than being killed in a car accident or shot. Nice video and commentary.
@@sharkbite5744 - that would be stupidity. The sharks there could mistake you for a seal. Most of the attacks on people from Great Whites are mistaken for seals, the vast major of attacks occur near seal haul outs.

I watch the Malibu Artist’s videos all the time. The footage shows how many times these close encounters happen and the sharks must swim off once they realize we’re not their usual prey. Still, it’s so scary to see one that close to a child on a board. They come in so much closer than I ever imagined.
Sharks don't eat humans you know, we are not part of their diet. They rarely do attack humans.
Kid: Just paddling on a nice day
Shark: Man this kids feet stink!

"that was so so funny i loved it
Sharks are naturally curious, just like any other animal is, including us. And their "attacks" I believe are either because they get scared and think to defend themselves from the unknown, or because they mistake people as seals. One of the most misunderstood creatures, and only because media always portrays them as monsters 😢
The movie Jaws did an immeasurable amount of harm to the species.
Damn you Steven Spielberg! :)
@Cerus98 Get your facts straight, you really don't know what you're talking about
@@MisfitsFiendClub138 I’m not blaming him. I’m just telling the OP that by his logic, the book deserves the blame for being the inspiration behind the film.
Sharks are not just mindless eating machines. They are intelligent, curious, and even playful. All the attributes of a successful predator. This was no pursuit. This was purely curiosity.
Are they playful? They are there to feed if the risk is low enough, though I have seen the petting of the Tiger Sharks.
Until it’s not😧
They play with their food 😆
@@jjmccloud killer whales take this to a whole new level
What do you think this is, a harmless Nurse shark...that is a deadly Great white shark! In the article I read it says nothing about it being playful or curious, it says:
"Many sharks hunt for dead or distressed animals on the surface and as a swimmer, you might be mistaken for these. Keep your activities quiet and calm: Avoid splashing, and fast movements, either could get you mistaken for prey or a threat. Dive in a group: More eyes means more people to watch out for each other"
Thank you Jesus for saving that child by diverting that shark away from him! 🙏🏿
Oh gosh this could have ended up badly if the sharks curiosity compelled it to bite. Thankfully it realized the kid wasn’t food without having to taste test.

Chilling yet absolutely stunning.

Sharks can see up…. It’s not like they have blinders that only allow them to see straight forward. Their EOMI and acuity is greater than 60deg 👍👍
