    Great tour. I appreciated Ashley Ross’ candor throughout the tour and appreciate the cultural aspects especially Gordon Parks’ work.

    It takes no effort to be nice or say nothing at all.
    It’s so weird to see “identity politics” comments when NO ONE Comments on any of the HW tours when a person says they’re Francophile or Anglophile or early Americana or love “Oriental” like the first tour.
    It’s not “identity politics” to embrace one’s own culture (or show respect for another’s) and to be proud of it. Keep shining Ashley-wishing you and all of the designers the best in business- and shout out to Aphrochic and Afro Bohemian & Jungalow movement! Respect ✊🏾

    I appreciate what each designer selected and curated for the space. I’m sure some things will be sold and/or changed if the owner deems it so.
    I’ve taken a couple designer ideas for my small 1600 sq.ft home for sure.
    Thank you Homeworthy!

    I just started watching the first room. It is too much for me, but very exquisit fabrics I guess. But the Lady, Trish, is such a sweet Lady. She is really nervous I assume, but she is explaining everything so well and she has such beautiful eyes and smile😊

    What’s the story behind the house? Does it belong to someone or do the designers take their things out after?

      I work for one of the designers, Paul Fields. This building was actually an office building that has been vacant for a few years and has never been a home. It is a Cole Smith design and after the show house closes, everything in the house is removed unless the property owner purchases it from the designers.

    America seems like a funny place to me. Personally I think Ms Ross could have made a bigger and better statement by designing a room that was beautiful and functional. With that said I do really enjoy seeing all these videos, I find most interior decorating in my own country very uninspiring

    What beautiful, whimsical, magical spaces! Such an escape from the ordinary. I imagine it would feel like living inside of an Anthropologie or a Storybook! ✨🪷🎪🦋✨ Loved it! (Except for Room #6. It did not fit in with the overall design of the Show house. I didn’t like anything about it and the designer’s vibe was an off-putting reflection of her design. My opinion.)

    Number 6 was the only design worth looking at. I wish certain ladies would explore the world, ensuring a plethora of ideas and designs are included in their portfolio. The overuse of floral and pastel wallpaper is so passé and sleep inducing. Do better interior designers, expand your point of view. Travel, explore then incorporate new perspectives in your work.

    I also watched the first room with all of the blue and so forth but it looks like a waiting room you don't put surface back to back like that it's very very lovely but it is not inviting at all I don't think I'll watch the rest of the video but I am a faithful watcher

    • @bonnieanjoorian4164
      @bonnieanjoorian4164 Місяць тому +1

      Back to back sofas were used here because the room is very larger and if you didn’t break it up into it wouldn’t have nice conversation areas. Second this room was designed for entertaining larger groups of people and the multiple seating areas allows people to cluster in small groups allowing many conversations to occur at the same time. Two couches back to back and multiple seating areas is the best way to design this type of room

  • @emilydaniel9047

    i enjoyed the show, but was disappointed a commercial space was chosen and not a true private residence

  • @calexismccarrington2175

    The last room feels awkwardly designed and without purpose. What was that room? She said she wanted it to feel like a private tasting room? Two sofas facing each other with a giant glaring light installation right in the middle to burn the corneas out of your eyes. And two old movie theatre seats placed, again, awkwardly facing the wall. Is it designed to kill conversation and cause a feeling of uneasiness? Because that's what it's giving. I get the intention was to appreciate the art, but it could have been designed in a much better way to do that. I think a lot of people will have a visceral reaction to it, but maybe not the one she expected.

    • @luluesparza7360
      @luluesparza7360 Місяць тому +1

      I really like the 2 old movie theatre seats facing the art. It provides a private moment for 2. I have a corner in my living room that has a private area for 2. It comes in handy. I like the display of the flapper purse…neat idea. Actually, this room reminders me of an legacy boutique hotel. IMO

    • @Rosesyoutube
      @Rosesyoutube Місяць тому +2

      I’m pretty sure the room is an art installation & the white sofas and cords are metaphors. It is more than just functional interior design. She is making a political statement, which she should, seeing she said she is the first person of colour to be accepted into Kipps Bay.

    • @calexismccarrington2175
      @calexismccarrington2175 Місяць тому +3

      @@Rosesyoutube I didn't realise that rooms could be art installations, but now thinking about it I have seen other strange, less functional rooms in other show houses. Maybe even last years? I just expect to see beautiful functional rooms. To me it's crazy that in 2024 such a political statement would be needed to be made in an interior show house. America is wild.

      I think the room did exactly what it's meant to do. Invoke a certain feeling and it's up to you to unpack those feelings in a moment of self awareness. That's just my view. This room was my second favorite of this video but I think she did a great job getting her vision across

      😂😂 There you are, there,s always one of you, just have to be the skunk at the garden party no matter what. This is a designer showhouse, not everything has to be your liking specifically, its not your custom personal residence, give the whining a rest.

      @annb2586 Місяць тому +3

      @axelfoley142 exactly!! a whole rest. And to the original commenter: when elevating a person's culture and love for that culture become identity politics??.
      If its not homogeneous, that confronts people biases. Its not her problem its yours and It's sick, hate this world sometimes. Let this gurl keep exploring her way of styling you dont have to like it. But calleing it identical politics is so brain dead

    • @albinosquirlz
      @albinosquirlz Місяць тому +1

      @annb2586 The identity politics was so blatant, that to deny it isn't just being "brain dead"...it's willfull ignorance. I mean...she came right out and said it for crying out loud. This has zero to do with interior decor choices inspired by one's "culture". Sorry....but woke interior design is cringe (as is all things woke), and that's how I would describe her room. Has Kips Bay lost its touch?

      @@albinosquirlz Who are you to say something has no place in a showhouse? Not every single room needs your particular approval. Do you go to the mall and criticize items that don't appeal to you specifically? Or demand the establishment not carry things you don't like? Your sense of entitlement and fragility is astonishing. Must one room send y'all over the edge?
