Yep, HD gives specs for what compression should be with the ACR's NOT deactivated. However, as one can imagine, that is not going to give nearly as accurate a reading.

Why did you not mention unhooking the TCA plug?! That omission could strip the gears on the throttle body actuator for which the only fix is a whole new throttle body(?!)

Because we had not heard of this issue before your question. I did some research and see that a few folks over the years have had this problem, and it is not confined to these tests.
Conversely, we have done these tests on dozens of bike and never had an issue.
It appears to be hit or miss on whether they will strip out.
