These are great tips. I'm in no doubt that preparation makes for a much more enjoyable experience. Prior to walking the WHW I lost weight and went out for weekly long distance walks in the months prior and I felt the benefits of that preparation every day of my trip. Testing gear is especially important. I didn't take my sleep system out for a test run and as soon as the first night I knew I wasn't going to get along with my sleeping mat. I'll know better for next time.
Thank you for top tips, I take comfort that I follow most, as yet not using poles. There is the issue of strengthening your mind set. I clarify I took ill during an overnight camp. It took determination to walk out of 7miles and 2000ft of climbing to return to the car. Unfortunately this led to being diagnosed with Cancer. That said I shall be looking at walking 31 miles over November for cancer research.😎💪🏕
