    Anyone know what the proper name for this technique is? Because I really don't know 😂

      Grace notes?

      Yeah that’s what I call them too. Grace notes. Hammer on/hammer off grace notes and slide in/slide out grace notes

      @@danthegeetarman This was bugging me because I used to know this stuff and I had a nagging feeling there were more specific terms that I couldn't remember. I think I've figured it out though! In classical notation I *THINK* the first technique (with the single extra note) is called an acciaccatora, and the second one (with the two extra notes where the first one is the same as the target note) is a mordent. I think if you asked a classical musician to notate the third technique they'd just stare at you blankly

    I have been playing for 45 years, very advanced, well toured. Knowledgeable in theory, writing and reading. So why do I watch you ??? If channels like this were available in the mid 1970s, I would be twice the player. You are a good teacher, well-spoken, clean teaching style, and I still learn watching you. You should cover the Nashville numbering system and how to use it effectively. Nobody has really done that on UA-cam yet.

    I discovered your channel yesterday, and I am baffled by the quality of your teaching.
    Thank you so much for making things so clear and easy to grasp ! :D

      Hahaha yeeeeaaahhh. Kinda predictable haha. I saw him do it for the first time and IMMEDIATELY grabbed my guitar and learned it. It’s so cool. 😅

    What is that you've got in your hand in the beginning? a cheat sheet? I need one

      It's just my pick 😅 I tuck it in my hand like that whenever I'm fingerpicking so I can easily switch back.

      @@andrewclarkeguitar I've been trying to get that motion down so that I can transition mod-solo but I keep dropping it! Any tips?

    • @andrewclarkeguitar
      @andrewclarkeguitar  4 місяці тому

      @@adriatic.vineyards there’re a few different ways to do it. But I push with my pointer finger and slide the pick down my thumb until it tucks under my pointer finger. Kinda hard to explain. I’ll try including it in a video soon!

    I love how committed you are to calling them squiggles

      I wasn’t intending to. But it just made sense while I was explaining it 😅 can’t remember where I heard someone else call them that before. Kinda stuck in my head now though 😂
