  • Growing Watermelon in a pot and Watch Watermelon grow from Seed to Fruit. See how the watermelon grow day by day.
Description Caption Include. Turn on CC for caption.
There are 2 main parts of my watermelon observation:
Part 1: Total 75 days from the day seed germination until harvesting focus on plant growing.
Part 2: Total 44 days from the day after manual pollination until harvesting focus on watermelon growing.
So the total length of my watermelon observation are 81 days from seed planting to harvest.
Watermelon is a surprisingly healthy fruit. It has a high water content and also delivers many other important nutrients, including lycopene and vitamin C. These nutrients mean that watermelon isn't only a tasty low-calorie treat - it's also very good for your health.

I threw seeds out in the backyard with the rinds for compost. Now I have at least 6 bowling ball sized watermelons growing. I was shocked because I had no intention if growing them. My first watermelon plant gave five great juicy watermelons. It’s was really sweet and just split easily due to its high amount of water. Best watermelon I’ve ever had. It was the larger sized watermelons too. However I did not plant it intentionally. It fell from my hand and the place where I did intentionally planted made a tiny watermelon. I have yet to be able to purposefully grow a decent size watermelon. So after this year if it is unsuccessful again I am just going to throw a bunch of seed wherever and let nature bring me back that sweet watermelon one more time.

Congrats on getting a melon! These are not easy, as they are sensitive to cold, wind, and drought. I see the leaves show signs of several nutrient deficiency. Next time, I would try adding more compost/fertilizer, as the plant should be able to live longer and maybe get you more melons. Looking forward to your next videos!

Watermelon is in the gourd family which means if it gets enough sun then it will grow really fast. You can grow other plants in the same family like cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, other types of melon, and gourds really quickly too all they need is good soil, a lot of water, and sun.
