- When Ohio State landed freshman all-American safety Caleb Downs in the Transfer Portal, it was one of the biggest coups in college football this year. The addition of Downs is expected to solidify an already-impressive Buckeye defense for 2024.
But according to Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, Downs could also be a player on offense for the Buckeyes this fall, too.

Agreed. Unless it's some sort of weird special formation to fool the defense into paying too much attention to Downs, I don't think they should do this.

Rivalry aside, worked out damn well when Michigan did it with Jabrill Peppers. They didn’t need him either, but when you get special players like that, you get them on the field in all phases

I hope they are serious about getting younger players meaningful playing time this season. In ‘25 we open with Texas and we are going to be losing a ton of players to the draft next year.

10 mins to long. this is a fun thought, a gimmick maybe. there is absolutely no situation hed be more useful on offense than using his energy on defense
They need to leave the defense alone.. especially the secondary…He’s not going to the NFL playing running back so why wear him out on offense to get him cooked on defense and hurt his trajectory…

It would be the dumbest move of all time to run him 1 time in his career. I don't want him to return kicks either. This is moronic, buffonish, etc. Not only that, but we probably just ran off Jordan Davison. It's irresponsible to even talk about. If he gets a carry it better be in the 4th quarter of the 2025 natty played in January of 2026. One more very important thing. Who are the kids behind you wearing thos putrid colored t-shirts? Appalled doesnt even cover it.
