Flute Master Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull talks to TotalRock TV of his new album sequel, Thick as a Brick 2 and tour dates as well! Sit back and relax and enjoy!
I laughed until I cried replaying the section where she says her friend's 11 month child is a huge fan. Ian's expression as it sunk in was hilarious. He looked a bit puzzled, stunned bewildered with a half a smile which turned into furrowed brows and then a real brow stroking! He usually is adept at not betraying something is amiss, but not this time, and it was very endearing....and funny!
I love the look on his face when she's talking about her friend giving birth while his music was playing. Made me LOL! Priceless! Love Ian. He's a genius!
jethro tull and ian anderson is great as ever. ian anderson are still, after all thees years the best artist ever . he and his group is and has always been the total rock. from åse.,in norway
Mr. Anderson is completely right, there's a brand new generation interested on Jethro Tull and pro rock as well. He's been touring Latin America since the end of the 90s and we love his legacy and musical present nowadays. Great interview as well...
Ian and I are about the same age. "Around something", I would say. Our common point is that we never accepted the time going by. We're still very young, in a way, and proud to be :-) Thanks, Ian for the pleasure you give us for so many years
We saw TAAB2 twice & it was magnificent! And of course all the previous and concerts that followed; Orchestral concerts & Rock Opera were also priceless experiences! The last was Ian does JT at the Bethlehem Musicfest! We hope he is considering coming to the USA for the 50th anniversary of the band Jethro Tull! I heard all the U.K. dates were already sold out...
@khashayar44 Actually, according to Ian & John, Ian never fired anyone. "A" was supposed to be a solo album, a diversion and a break as Barrie was depressed after John Glascock's death, and John was getting tired of playing in Tull anyway. Chrysalis begged Ian to rechristen "A" a Tull album, and made an announcement that Jobson, Craney & Pegg were the new members before Ian talked to the other guys. So, whilst mishandled certainly, Ian never actually "fired" anyone.
Its a shame Ian skipped "Benefit" in his 40th anniversary tour of past albums. He always seemed very embarassed by it and dimished the admiration of others for that album as down to romanticism born of unrelated pleasant memories and associations. No thought that his own feelings might be subjectively motivated. In my view "Benefit" holds together as a single entity more than anyh other and is not affected or afflicted by the commercial hype of some others. Come on Ian, tour with "Benefit"!
Don't know, the album is with me for four years now, and I play it as often as classics like Minstrel In The Gallery, Heavy Horses or Crest Of A Knave. Best IA solo album since his first one I think, and Homo Erraticus turned out great as well.

I just simply love his voice. the minstrel still looks and sounds great even after all these years.

sadly Martin has decided he didn't want to be a part of it, and is touring this year playing Tull songs that havn't been performed for years
Where is Martin Barre????
I love the look on Ian's face when she says "a passion for play album"
you have to ask yourself.how much talent does someone have to exsude to be respected?Ian rocks!
Anderson is a regular guy. he doesn't seen to have the usual rock star attitude.
Dads Army-Ian Anderson now looks like Arthur Lowe...
Simon Loveland lOl good observation
Bang on!. I thought the same.
Thank you Ian, for dropping the sax playing!! "Warchild" is pretty far from my favourite album...
No. Bring it back. Warchild is fantastic.
aqualung my friends
It's alright for you girls lol!, he still has a way out sense of humour.

I love Ian's music but he's so pompous now I preferred him back in the 70's and 80's.
youre way way off
Anderson has been very disparaging of prog the last few decades. I never understood why. It's about time he came to his senses.
TAAB2 ... blah, I love Tull and Ian, but not so hot. Best hopes for Homo Erraticus tomorrow ... but ... ho-hum.
