according to my understanding ..
should is used to suggest something for its expected "positive" results or consequences.
had better is used to warn of doing something for its expected "negative" results or consequences.
Am I right ?

Yes, that's right. Should means, "I think it's a good idea." Had better means, "if you don't do that, something bad will happen."
