I was born in Guatemala. As a kid I would always look up videos about my country and never found any. It saddened me to see no representation about our land and culture since it is such a hidden gem. 10+ years later and I am in tears seeing this video. Hearing the way you describe our country makes me emotional. Thank you!! Thank you for fulfilling my childhood dream that Guate would become known & loved worldwide and for the effort put into this super accurate and informative video! 🇬🇹🫶🏼

Excellent documentary! I got to travel in Guatemala over 5 years ago, and it was my first time traveling solo internationally. I went to all the towns/cities in this documentary, but I did not explore all the sites nearby. This brought back some great memories and makes me want to go back one day. I found it to be a safe place, but I was cautious and didn't do much at night unless I was with a couple people.
Edit: I also found the Guatemalan people to be friendly, welcoming, and hard-working. It was impressive to see older men and women hauling large sacks on their backs in Tzununa (a small town in Lago de Atitlan), walking up steep paths. I am a young American man and I don't think a lot of young American men could do that! My Spanish was limited, but I did end up making a local friend who spoke English. Good times!

This is my next goal. As a first time traveler, I went to Cancun Mexico last year, and it was beautiful. Everyone warned me about crime and all, but I've found crime in the US as well, so whatever. Old ladies do fine in Mexico, even the young guys trying to look rough wanted to be kind to the old abuela, so I would recommend it to retirees. Currently saving up to go to Guatemala, se ve hermosa....o...hermoso. Love.

I was born in Guatemala but was brought to the US as lil girl and I just went back in Feb of 2023. I was afraid at first but now I regret not ever going back sooner. I loved it, the City, Antigua, Casa del Mundo in Lake Atitlan, the food, the sights, just everything about it. I rented a vehicle for my stay and between the rental car and the gas, I spent less than $500. I only filled up once right before turning the car in which was insane considering I drove from the city to Lake Atitlan and back. The colors are so bright and just felt so relaxed. I am ready to go back.

Well done! Well Done! I have visited each and every place in your film several times since my first visit in 1996. Spent my first night at Casa del Mundo in 1998. Been to Tikal 3 times. My Guatemalan wife's cousin owned La Mayan hotel on Isla de Flores. You are spot on in every way and you came close to flying over my home outside Antigua in your video!

The opening scenes for this video feel like you're going to a festival.
not only did I download this video but I watched it a second time because this is the best Guatemalan tour out there and has got me psyched up about going to Guatemala someday that I'm spending up to six hours a day study in Spanish for the next 100 days.

Wow what an informative video, 10 out 10+. It's a great pity there aren't more worldly videos like this one. The info is so exact and personal, it all gives one a great deal of confidence to travel to countries such as Guatemala with its rather checked history of gangs and extreme levels of dangerous environs that kept tourists away. Thankfully all that is on a massive decline and videos such as this one help immensely to belay those former fears. 👌👍👍💯💯

Wonderful video! I visited Guatemala in 2016 with my sons. While traveling in Guatemala I stayed in the Capital for two days then by taxi went to Antigua for one week where we learned that one can, at an agency, join a group, split the cost which was not much, and hire a new comfortable van with a driver who will stay with the van and backpacks waiting while the group sight sees, at lunch time the group invites the driver to join in for lunch. In this manner we went to Copan just over the border with Honduras, and also visited Lake Atitlan. To visit Tikal one from the capital one can fly there or take a modern bus equiped with reclining seats and a bathroom to Puerto Barrios. Once there we hired a taxi to the take us to the peer where we rented a small boat with a driver to Livingston and the same driver met us the next day to tour Rio Dulce. I loved the people, the food, the sights and shopping. I did miss going to Chichi--next time.
