Those who say tricking is impractical or whatever..please understand that tricking isn't meant to be practical, hell a lot of things are impractical but it doesn't make them purposeless. Tricking is an art, and art isn't meant to be practical, it is meant to show creativity, self expression, and define. Some things shouldn't be judged based solely on practicality.

    • @juslas94

I do Muay Thai and MMA and i agree to this comment. People who say traicking is impractical and useless blabla are just insecure. It's like saying dancing is useless because it can't be used in a fight. Plus, you'll notice that majority of guys who judge tricking are most likely the guys that never trained and only watched ufc/mma, only trained and never fought.

Besides, in order to do Tricking you should know a (or a couple) martial art and gymnastics.

No it doesn’t. I’ve trained, sparred and compete in combat sports and did start in TMA and tricking is more similar to gymnastics then MARTIAL art. Art of fighting vs acrobat, very different. Yes tricking can help combat training but it’s not the same

Regardless of wether or not you like tricking, you got to give this guy some credit. These are some insanely difficult moves that he is still able to execute with amazing form. Also, for the people saying that tricking is impractical for fighting, most trickers (including him) have martial arts backgrounds. Additionally, the amount of strength it requires to pull of these moves can make one a strong fighter.

@Kate Yara Tae Kwon Do! Lol! The fundamentals of tricking is Tae Kwon Do. But you don't have to learn any martial art to learn tricking. Start with the basics of tricking (or gymnastics). And then you can master it. As a byproduct, you will know some MMA too.
      Best of luck!

Tricking is different from the competition and military type of Taekwondo. This is the artistic side of Taekwondo. The competition type is where you get direct hits. And the military Taekwondo is where Taekwondo’s potential is used to incapacitate and kill enemies. This style is used by soldiers and special forces with movement specifically designed to kill and damage the opponent’s body. If this guy can do tricks like these with the art form, I believe he is a capable taekwondo practitioner and can easily knock someone out in a fight using conventional taekwondo.

The skills are in the movements, not the results. Even contact martial arts competitions are not supposed to result in death or even knocking people out.

I don't ever hear anyone asking if gymnastics, skateboarding, ballet or whatever is practical. You push the limits of human ability and people will admire it enough to sponser competitions. Like any sports in general. People really take for granted what's already acceptable social norms but don't realize that if we go back in time far enough, it wasn't always the case. Stop being soo judgemental. People is gonna love what people's gonna love. If you don't like it, don't let it ruin your mojo. Just get over it and move on.

Guys...get this. Obviously this is not a practical form of fighting. (Well I mean some moves can really hurt you if they know how to utilize it properly.) But tricking is more so performance based. An art or self-expression, really. Kinda like dancing. A hell of a cardio too. And just because this isn't practical, doesn't mean it's not a martial art. There are performance based martial arts and practical based martial arts. Tricking is one of the performance based martial art. Plus most of the tricking moves derived from Taekwondo and other forms of martial arts. Soo...saying its' not a martial arts is invalid since it IS based on martial arts. Maybe not practical, sure, but it still counts. Performance based as I mentioned.

Taekwondo has a lot of kicking techniques that are flashy but impractical in a real street fight. Obviously you've haven't been in that much actual fights. If you had you would know that the majority of strikes thrown in a fight are punches not kicks. Having decent kicking skills is useless if you don't have decent boxing skills and good grappling techniques. You must learn how to fight in all ranges of combat.

You need a cat paw who will do your dirty works, a personal team of lawyers, huge amount of money and a gun. Martial arts will not protect you and your family and friends if you're going around thinking coercive means is the most practical self-defence.

it's not a martial art and nobody claims it is. ur confusion might come from this guy being a martial artist AND a tricker. tricking uses aspects of martial arts but isn't one itself. it's just that a lot of trickers happen to have a martial arts background and incorporate it into tricking

This comment got posted twice. In the other thread I said
Actually I want to walk that back a little bit, because that's a bs gatekeeper logic. The dude is an athlete, and he wants to develop a fresh martial art? I think that's dope af. It's definitely immature, but that's to be expected because it's fucking new. I guess more of a theoretical framework, and narative, are places where I think he has room for growth, and innovation is dope.

@@spencer1980 there's no martial art being developed and what is being created wasnt made by this guy. the sport as tricking and has been around for a couple decades i think. it's not a martial art per se it's more a mix of different acrobatic maneuvers from martial arts, gymnastics, breakdancing, etc. it's a performance art
