the x-factor in my opinion are 3 things and they all come together brilliantly :
The choreography, The Camera Pan in and out, The set lighting.
I have seen enough of these reactions and seen the video over and over and the surprise factor is at very specific points consistently.
They knew exactly where all we'd become excited. Genius Direction !
Act 1 : Starting with Taeyang, nobody - besides being one of Jimin's inspiration - knows of him. It's like a grand reveal of the "master of your master" kind of situation. And this guy has proven it, now I get where Jimin gets the inspiration to dance with such emotions. This guy is so smooth and understands the beats and the key movements. It doesn't matter if your good at dancing and get your timing wrong, even a delay by a millisecond will put the "vibe" off. Many of this key moves in the dance are so well in sync with the large beams of light behind him. It's like with every movement he is the orchestrator of those lights. it's clear that he's inspired by Michele Jackson esk showmanship.
Act 2 : Everyone in this video came to watch Jimin; they distract us by showing how good Taeyang is and we are absorbed. Then ... the grand reveal - the iconic voice kicks and with the silhouette ( that lighting is just killing it in this video ). We know Jimin has a more exaggerated face jawline, they exploit that very well. Kind of gives me the vibe of Shahrukh khan ( considered the most romantic man in Indian cinema during his prime acting days ) and his signature stance with wide arms ( a classic chocolate boy pose )
Act 3 : the break shots till they start coming together - It's so cool. We've all seen Pokemon and as kids; we always used to imagine in our heads the evolutions of pokemon. Always a hot topic when different stages of evolutions meets each other in the show. This had the exact same vibe ( pardon the overuse of vibe, cant help ) Jimin the rising, Taeyang the guy who's been there done that and inspired the next gen ( passing the baton ) pop media isnt aware of the history. Jimin clearly drawing in all the attention, but at the same time his attention is so strongly towards taeyang ( his hero ).
Act4 : The Jimin breakout. Okay, by now everyone is in shock, awe , girly probably have their faces red with overjoy. Then give them more of what they want. Jimin overdramatized. Although, again there is a strong role of the silhouettee shots, it gives you the vibe of jimin and build up to the grand reveal. Actually, here I think they dramatize Jimin not as a feminine character, as evidently as in butter, but more on the lines of showman, who effortlessly can seduce.
It's truly amazing that they were able to think of some much in just an under 3 minute video.
