  • HIKMICRO Stellar SH50 / AirMaks Krait ratting: a combo I trust 100% with 74 rats shot in about 90mins, including several dead rats appearing to ‘pulse’ in white-hot mode?
Stuart of @VerminControlScotland kindly invited me to join him for some more ratting action, so before I returned the excellent Stellar SH50 thermal scope to HIKMICRO, I took it along on my AirMaks Krait, to help reduce the rodent population.
We were there at request of the landowner, we both have airgun licenses (required in Scotland), plus shooting insurance. ### Includes Pest Control, viewer discretion required ###
You’ll notice I spotted an unusual effect where several dead rats appeared to ‘pulse’ in white-hot mode, haven’t noticed this before.

00:15 Introduction, including initial thermal spotting with the Explorer E20.
01:40 thermal spotting with the Pard TA32-25.
    03:27 Rats #1-#9.
    04:14 Quick zero double-check during a brief lull, then rats #10 & #11.
04:36 Some footage of me recorded by Stu on the ThermTec Cyclops CP650Pro spotter.
    05:05 Rats #12-#74.

Thanks very much to HIKMICRO for the loan of the Stellar SH50 scope, and to Sportsman Gun Centre for the loan of the Pard TA32-25 spotter; both were on loan for my 100% impartial / independent review.

Haha sorry Nigel, I realised my own (previously unnoticed) subconscious repetition when I edited this video, oops. 🤷🏻‍♂
Obviously that was a 90minute session condensed down for this video, but there were lots of other opportunities missed (sometimes literally, with a pellet on its way to leaving the barrel) -due to rats being too quick / not hanging around. 🤦🏻‍♂
Hence my natural '"yesss" of satisfaction, when they did hang around long enough for me to target them.
Thanks for watching, feel free to share pls, 🙏cheers. Russ

You have to be quick before they disappear, and that was 90mins edited-down. 🤷🏻‍♂️
      Still more humane than rodenticide.
      Cheers. Russ

I think back then I used 8.44gr JSB Exacts, but I was getting too many fliers so for the time being I've changed to 8.64gr H&N FTT.

How is it possible to see heat reflected in a puddle or glass at a distance?

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  9 місяців тому

It just is, providing your scope/spotter's sensitive enough (I was tickled by that too, although this being a cool night undoubtedly helped), however thermal cannot see through glass -so Hollywood has unsurprisingly lied to us all about that too. 🙄
      Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ

@@RussDouglas222 When I used thermal on my tank in 1990 there were no reflections so I'm puzled as to why chinese scopes do it, I have Pard thermals btw

@@windy33a Well it's probably simply down to the sensitivity of modern thermal imagers then. 🤷🏻‍♂️
