Thanks very much David. On the one hand we all love summer... but I've never lived among west coast midges before. 😳 Carnivorous wee b*ggers. 🫣 Thanks for watching, loads more to come. 🤓 Cheers. Russ
I've asked the question but no, they're sticking with the 18650 batter. NV guru Bruce has tested the other prototype TNC225R and it has very low power drain, so that bodes well. Clarity very good a real nice clear picture nice red reticle and middle dot nice for picking up the quarry faster , what's the forest distance it can pick up quarry. Seems powerful reach out in the field nice video Russ . Cheers .
Hi there, yep I've seen folk on the DNT FB groups (inc' Stateside where these are already on sale), who use them on .223", .243" and .308". Thanks for watching, please share. Cheers. Russ
@RussDouglas222 Thanks mate. I have one on order from Optics warehouse as previously mentioned. Intend to use it with my CZ rimfire rifles but i think it would be ideal for longer range foxing with my Tikka T3x .223. Great video by the way, very informative as always. Thanks again.
@@justsayin7937 The TNC uses standard rechargeable flat-top 18650 batteries (which are inexpensive), they'll last longer if you use less IR but they should last a few hours. I believe you can run it off a powerbank, but you can't charge onboard batteries within the unit. Thanks for watching, please share. 🤝 Cheers. Russ
I mention in the video the scope's on a tripod and not yet zeroed, so no - the two reticles don't yet match. The NV image's second, smaller + is the LRF's daylight aiming marker, but that only appears while the LRF is ranging. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
Tbh the main reason I’m going to be buying this scope is I can spot rabbits/foxes already on my thermal spotter but when I put it down and try and find them with my digital ir scope I can’t ! now with this scope I can find them on thermal main screen and without moving rifle take the shot with IR Picture in Picture bloody hell this set up is going to be perfect 😊😊😊😊😊
@@simonbeer5259 Eggsactly! 👌 Yep that's exactly how I'll use it, although for short-range ratting you can also leave the main screen on thermal, targeting them without PIP. Other question is do you wait till October for the 384x288 35mm lens version, and there might yet be a 384x288 or 640x512 50mm lens version. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
Thanks Gareth. Yes it does but I didn't want to include too much in this first night vid. Once thermal's active in either window, pressing the left button (that steps through IR brightness levels in NV mode), toggles White hot / Black hot / Rainbow... I'll show this in another video soon, probably at night as summer daytime conditions are too warm for good thermal contrast. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
@@datkanookandors2437 For this pre-production prototype I just measured the minimum focus distance at 2.755m (measured from the objective lens). This model's LRF ranges down to 10m. Cheers. Russ

@@letsgobrandon6545 Ah yes but TBH any scope that can do 1x mag isn't much use for medium-long range. For extra-short range use I'm planning to disable PIP and simply target prey with thermal with thermal. Thanks for watching (please share to help spread the word), cheers. Russ
Yep, you'll see in the Arken Ballistics App a tag "TN" - that's ThermalNight" or multi-spectral. 🤓 In one upcoming video I'll cover zeroing, which is a doddle in both spectrums, and probably in another (to keep video sizes manageable/watchable) setting up the BCL. Great vids as always for what ever reason you seem to chill me right out. From what i can gather hearing and reading from other people posts and comments i hear the Akron is a better buy than the hik 4k Alpex, saying the day mode is better and I would be mainly using in the day, it's the ballistic app that I need my dialing in is and has always been terrible to many times I missed the opportunity by being slow, first ranging then app then dialing while try to minimise movement and my hold off is well off most the time, if you could spare me your thoughts please would be much appreciated. Oh also will the day night mode be better quality than the previous models in the finale version if so I'll wait if not ill buy now as have good thermal spotter already
@@nicksamsunggalaxys2404 The problem I have when using my spotter is I have to put it down and then find the target again, this new scope will be excellent as I spend most of my shooting in and around barns and warehouses day and night, if the ballistics are as good as the 5x20 this will be a god send
Welll not really, rather than having to go into the menu for everything, leave that for detailed settings and use the existing individual function buttons as hotkeys to start/stop recording, and... * activate / disable PIP. * swap between day and night. * adjust IR illumination. * range targets. * change reticle colours on the fly. * switch between day/night and thermal. ...## and all without interrupting recording, or shooting ## ; sounds pretty awesome to me. 🤓 Thanks for watching, cheers.
