Bro I'm kurd as well and I know exactly how it feels like i have to be grateful that I was born in the independent iraqi Kurdistan region. Where we had freedom and our own political leaders and parliament where I was able to express my nationality and to speak Kurdish with absolutely no controversy and consequences and where I had my all education in Kurdish. I wish one day the rest of the Kurdish children in Iran, Turkey Syria will have the same childhood as I had.
@@shianzekri7629 You definitely have been lucky, though really it should be nothing more than a birthright to live and be free. I was born in Kirkuk, spent most of my childhood in Slemani and then 2-3 years in Hawler where my parents worked as surgeons. In the late 80's, we were forced to sing the Iraqi national anthem in school, weren't really allowed to say anything remotely pro Kurdish, weren't allowed to be taught in Kurdish and then of course we had the horrible experience of having to escape to the border in the middle of the night during the uprising. We were lucky in that we had cars and lorries and food but we had to literally live by the side of the road for weeks upon weeks before being able to return to slemani. Even in that difficult time, the Iranians were horrible. A girl was shot by an Iranian soldier as she tried to climb the lorry for bread handouts, and one of our neighbour's sons died after being mauled by a bear whilst he was out collecting wood to keep us warm. We have certainly come a long way.

I remember my ex girlfriend from BCN saying that Catalonia is not Spain, and after winning a football match against Germany, she was yelling "Espanyaaa!" (or was it even "Españaaa!"?)... Catalonia is maybe a bit parsimonious and I wonder whether they wanted to be independent too if they were not the richest but the poorest region in Spain. Don't get me wrong, I love Catalonia a lot and I do respect Pep Guardiola, but some things appear like total hypocrisy to me. Moreover, as a German with historical awareness, I am saying with utter conviction that any kind of hyper-nationalism is no good at all. Everyone can keep their identity, their customs and also their language, but do we really need new nations while trying to get rid of borders? Visca el Barça!
Face it, Catalonia has been part of Spain for so long now, you're spanish. Tell me, in concrete example, how does your culture differ so much from Spanish culture? That's an argument I heard so often in Quebec from separatists (culture) yet you couldn't tell an average Canadian and average French Canadian apart if they don't say a word. Dress the same, listen to the same type of music, bitch about the same issues.. So on and so forth.
Firstly , the Generalitat owes Spain 1.890 million Euros it has lent it to support its expenditures. 60 % of its exports are to Spain, and the rest to the EU. Catalonia has Splain as its craddle but it s a piece of shit hole without Spain
Dave Kent exactly, i grimaced when i read that. the idea of eroding borders as though humans are a theoretical idea that can be solved through simple measures, overlooking our innate complexities. ridiculous.

Another option would be to have our own federation, as is the case of Andorra, which has the Football Federation of Andorra. Therefore, Andorra has a football League and the team that wins it can represent the country at the European Cup. But it has a club called “Futbol Club Andorra” which plays in the Catalan League despite being a national team. If it were better it could even play in the “Copa del Rey”.
And Catalonia wouldn´t have risen those catalonian players without the spanish La Liga. If my grandma were green and flat she wouldn´t be my grandma, but a crocodile... Please, grow up.

Sure, I'm not disagreeing with you in any way, but I still previously posted line-up overclasses any other line-up in the world. The only weak link in that team is Arbeloa and perhaps not enough balance on the midfield due to two attacking midfielders.

Partially you're right. Before 2010 the separatist option never exceeded the 35% of catalan population but the economic crisis is NOT the only reason. It's more a combination of ofensive decisions of various spanish institutions, including the Government and the Constitional Court, to the legitims reclaims of the catalan institutions with the support of the majority of catalan citizens.
Lies. Mass boycott ensued in the 2017 vote. Of those who did (43%), 2,044,038 (90.18%) voted for separation and 177,547 (7.83%) voted against. Separatists won 90% on a 43% Turnout. About 39%. 5️⃣7️⃣% BOYCOTTED.
Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro we just have different religion. For example, Barcelona Football Club may ask the English Premier to play there. Then we’d have to see what the English League thought of that, but as a club we can certainly do it. In fact, we could do this today. The important thing is that we, the members, have it clear in our minds what we actually want; it’s up to us to decide where we would like to play. The ultimate objective is to be able to decide and I’m convinced that we will decide.

Imagine the Spanish national team without Xavi, Busquets, Alba, Piqué and Fabregas. The end of an era. There would be no more trophies for the RFEF, if the Spaniards suddenly had to assemble a creative midfield of their own.
Any Spanish person can understand this sentence so it's not really a separate language like Welsh is from English, for example.
Hello professor, Catalan is a Western Romance language derived from Vulgar Latin and named after the medieval Principality of Catalonia... You're welcome.
DocStrange0123 it still sounds like Spanish. I'm not even spanish nor a native speaker of it but I would say I understand at least 70% of said Catalan. Catalans look like spaniards, speak like spaniards and for me as a foreigner they are just Spanish special snowflakes wanna be. I might be wrong but they aren't that different from other autonomous communities of Spain who also have their own specific culture and language like the Basque Country for example, but still are rather distinctly, of Spanish and Iberian culture.
You're a Catalan, from Spain! Just like every other Catalan is also from Spain! Just like the Basque and the Valencianos and the Madristas! Look at your passport!
i understand Pep and his feelings for Catalonia.but what bothers me the most, why did he ever play for Spain at the first place since he clearly does not want to represent it and feels that is not his country?
there are accusations by team mates that he only played for spain for the money but i doubt thats the reason. alot of footballers tend to play for a nation and to have their names recognised nationally
Because he's a money-hungry machoman perhaps? He could be North African more like and always very secretive about his private life mmm mmm imagine all the fun in the changing rooms . . .
Where would Barcelona football club play if Catalonia became an independent State? I think wherever it wished. Obviously, Catalonia would need to have its own League as federations make it compulsory, so a state structure for sports would have to be created. However, Barcelona Football Club, as a private club can theoretically play wherever it wants to.
Make no mistake: We don't have, for example, own Treasury and it's a great chain in our relation with Spain. Because without own Treasury we can't measure own government spending and we can't have catalan government budgets adequate to our needs as Spain invests more than 40% of catalan revenues outside Catalonia... It's a nonsense.
But this could affect the income of the club... Obviously, already today, what brings in the money is the European Cup, and we expect that Barcelona will play in the competition. Cause-effect scenarios will take place, but they will quickly be readdressed. At the moment, we must understand sport as a matter of state; therefore, it will be solved as a matter of state.
Oh really? Catalonia isn't Spain then why you play for Spain You could just refuse to play International football like Paul Scholes (2007-10 ) Totally BS
I would guess that Barcelona will still be in La Liga. Maybe similar to AS Monaco, where they are not part of France, but play in the French league. As to the national team, I would say the Catalan players are going to want to play for Catalunya rather than Spain.
Arent catalán people the same tribal/ethnicity as the spaniards ? isn't there Names and language truly the same? or are they different people group that have been assimilated?
Tribaly, the same ethnicity as in all east and south Spain: Iberians. That's going to prerroman times. But not going so far in time, there is only on ethnicity in the whole iberian peninsula. If you study History of Spain, you will see that Catalans were not assimilated, but an integral part of the foundation of the nowadays' Spain (the Casal Reial d'Aragó, and de Barcelona, the Crown of Aragon, the Hispanic Monarchy through the dynastic union of Castile and Aragon, etc...) In the iberian Christian kingdoms there was a long project of reunification after the muslim conquest (with conflicts in between among different Christian kingdoms, of course) in which Catalonia played a fundamental role. I mean, there is a reason why there were so extremely long celebrations in Barcelona (ten whole days with their nights) on the occasion of the conquest of Granada. You can check the Dietaris de la Generalitat de Catalunya if you want to see It by yourself. And that was that the so long desired unity of the Iberian Peninsula had being recovered (later came the conquest of Navarra by both Castile and Aragon, and remember that Catalonia was a part of the Crown of Aragon, also Portugal was expected to unite with the rest of Crowns and Kingdoms through marriage politics). So Catalonia was not assimilated, but played one of the protagonist roles in the formation and unification of Spain.
@@DavidNilo-ss8gq i really much appreciate this comment you made for me brother, One more quesiton if you don't mind? are you implying that the portuguese people and the spainiards are the same ethnic group/tribal from back in the day aswell?
@@endritbajrami8795 I would say they are the same ethnic group, yes, and in fact Portugal indeed formed also part of the Hispanic Monarchy. But they also had their own nobility and rulers (and even in a same ethnicity politics also play a big role), that's why they are no longer in a union with the rest of Iberian Peninsula (remember that we speak of a time when families and the power of families, nobility in this case, was more important than ethnicities and nations). With Catalonia is not the same, cause the King of Spain (short way of stating all his titles associeted to Spain) IS the Count of Barcelona as he descends by legitimate succesion from the old Counts of Barcelona of the Casal de Barcelona of the deep middle ages when not even Aragon and the Catalan Counties had yet made an union. But all I said as our common past is a reason why we both Spaniards and Portuguese feel ourselves as brothers.

I don’t think its fair for nations who have fought to defend their borders for centuries i.e.: Scottish, Welsh, and English to be compared to a region of Spain. (as the Catalans tend to do).
Even more unfair is to compare Catalonia to the Irish, which are indeed a nation and were oppressed (and almost starved to death) by England for centuries, while Catolonia is not a nation, but a spanish nationality, the second richest part of Spain and one of the most developed alongside Madrid and the Basque Lands
but language isn't the only condition for our nationhood, we've got a totally different culture, values, expresions... a history as a country so different from the rest of spain.

Trying to relieve the explanation of littlegirljuststoned catalans have a way of thinking and make thinks more european than the rest of Spain. Our character isn't tipically Mediterranean, it's more north-central-european and this is reflected, for example, at work, in the way we do bussiness, in the way that people relate, etc...
One's entitlement to a sense of political sovereignty is based purely on cultural unity and relative alienation, not on how much blood has been spilled in the name of the country. That is the kind of tripe falange spouted off earlier in the 1900s. Catalonia is a unique sense of identity vis a vis their language, political ideology, and customs, and, as such, should very much be considered as having its own nationality and, by extension, something of an autonomous polity.

I què?

If catalonia becomes independent, will it mean that, they will have their own national team? And will barcelona play in the french league?
Another option would be to have our own federation, as is the case of Andorra, which has the Football Federation of Andorra. Therefore, Andorra has a football League and the team that wins it can represent the country at the European Cup. But it has a club called “Futbol Club Andorra” which plays in the Catalan League despite being a national team. If it were better it could even play in the “Copa del Rey”.
Spain would never have won any of it's recent trophies without Catalonia.
And Catalonia wouldn´t have risen those catalonian players without the spanish La Liga. If my grandma were green and flat she wouldn´t be my grandma, but a crocodile... Please, grow up.

MENTIRA.

Scotland, Wales & N Ireland have teams that can play in international competition. Why not Catalonia?

Make no mistake: We don't have, for example, own Treasury and it's a great chain in our relation with Spain. Because without own Treasury we can't measure own government spending and we can't have catalan government budgets adequate to our needs as Spain invests more than 40% of catalan revenues outside Catalonia... But this could affect the income of the club...
Obviously, already today, what brings in the money is the European Cup, and we expect that Barcelona will play in the competition. Good i respect your opinion i think others will also not impose their opinions on you .Anyway
If you study History of Spain, you will see that Catalans were not assimilated, but an integral part of the foundation of the nowadays' Spain (the Casal Reial d'Aragó, and de Barcelona, the Crown of Aragon, the Hispanic Monarchy through the dynastic union of Castile and Aragon, etc...)
In the iberian Christian kingdoms there was a long project of reunification after the muslim conquest (with conflicts in between among different Christian kingdoms, of course) in which Catalonia played a fundamental role.

Salut

what about it? It's part of canada
Canada?
Catalonia is one of the places which made what we call Spain together Spain is stronger with Catalonia
So if someone feels Spanish I do not dislike them. Why do you despise me for feeling Catalan??
I think Catalunya has everything pretty well, i mean there are other countries with worse problems.. Catalunya has just been lucky to have succesfull athletes(football players for all i know) and they speak their own language.. and sure differences in culture and stye but thats normal i mean in Andalucia people are totally different than Madrid but they dont want to be other country? I think Catalunyan people just think they're somehow "too good" for Spain and thats just pathetic!
Are you serious
No, he will never. But maybe when Catalonia has a National Team he will coach for us. Seriously have you watched the video?
