I think a group trip would be fun around Korea! I want to get out and explore Korea but I never have anyone to go with, so I just end up staying in Songdo all the time. Being a professor, though, I can't really just take time off whenever I want, so it'd depend on when the trip was (and the budget), but I'm definitely interested!
And yes, as a teeny tiny creator myself, it's crazy how it messes with your mind. Content that I don't even like anymore gets these evergreen high amounts of views, and content that I personally enjoy "flops". Thankfully, for now I've been okay mentally because I justify it by saying that I started my channel to share stuff I want to make and look back on, so regardless of engagement at least I'm making what I want to make. It's definitely way too easy for those UA-cam Creator Studio stats to mess with your emotions though, even when the goal isn't just to grow grow grow.

I have been watching your videos for over 2 years now and I am finally coming back to Korea as a university exchange student in February. Going on a trip with you sounds like so much fun! For me it would be especially interesting to so something like the sponsored trips you did last year, e.g. the one to Jinan and Muju. Going somewhere that is not super well-known to foreigners and explore the places there; Do some local cultural activities, go to some cafes and just have fun together as a group. ( already filled out the survey and put the info there as well ;) ). This might seem super creepy and I´m deeply sorry if it is a weird request but I would love to actually be able to meet you in person while I´m in Korea. You seem like such a lovely and friendly person and a lot of fun to hand out with!
I am super excited to finally get to spend some more time in Korea and hopefully improve my Korean. I really need to get out off my shell and need to start speaking. It´s so frustrating to be so anxious about it, even if I know that nothing bad is gonna happen if I make mistakes but especially in front of my Korean friends I get super embarrassed for no reason. Hopefully I can overcome that fear sooner rather than later.
I absolutely love your longer YT videos!! They have always given me such a great insight of what life in Korea is actually like (although I know you still don´t post the super "bad" stuff and the big struggles which is totally understandable). I understand that you feel a lot of pressure about having more followers and getting lower engagement; that it feel like it is not worth your time and all the efforts you put into your videos but just know that the people who watch your YT video really really like them and appreciate all those efforts. I have laughed and also cried while watching your videos and I have learned so much from your Korean language journey. Your older book reviews and progress stories/tips really helped me a lot. I am always so thankful that you are willing to share your thoughts and life with us in such a way. It takes a lot of courage! Don´t be too hard on yourself!!

Yessss It's near impossible to turn our "content creator" mindsets off, so when the content that took up so much mental energy performs poorly or below expectations it feels so defeating and like we wasted our time and energy on something that didn't offer value

I’m from the bookish side of UA-cam. And a lot of booktubers I watch have the same issue with views. A lot of them made new channels and loyal subscribers went to their new page and their engagement matched so much better.

I love watching your videos!!!!! They’re so entertaining like they’ve always been! And my favorites are definitely the Korean language ones and italki related ones and because of them I’ve gotten to know about italki and have my own Korean teacher I’m working with currently. I think some of what you are struggling with is common with many UA-camrs. Many subscribers but they don’t either get notifications or actively watch despite being subscribed. Either way you’re content and long videos are so worth the time and watching them is for whatever reason entertaining. 😊

I haven't really had the time to watch your videos in the past few months and I've never really been one to comment a lot but I want to say that finding your channel in Summer of 2021 (I believe?) is what gave me the motivation to actually restart learning Japanese! And I'm actually in Japan right now, I did language school in Tokyo, I'm here for 6 months. And then I'll go to SK for language school and travelling soon too. I really loved this, it was so real and I could feel myself relating to a lot of what you were saying. I personally prefer longer full form youtube videos over shorts and reels because they feel more genuine/engaging and I feel like I'm just hanging out with the creator (they do take up more time tho)... I usually don't comment but I also wanted to say that I really love your videos, no matter the form!! I started youtube recently because I like making videos but found it hard to stay consistent and come up with good content (am I intersting enough? do I have good advice to offer? etc). Putting yourself out there is also a little scary haha... I would love to hear some tips or insight on content creating if you're ever up for it!

Hi Natalia,wish you a happy new year! I really do like your content. I'm just not someone who leaves comments on videos :) I love the idea of the group travel trip. I also decided 2024 will be my travel year. And I will be travelling for 6 weeks to Japan and Korea March to April. So I am not sure if I would join in group travel trip to Korea or Japan, as I will already be there this year, but if there is another country and timing and budget fits, I am likley to join :) And regarding the tie on the journey for the months: I choose every month where I possibly could be travelling.
It seems that being a content creator creates a lot of internal expectations as well as external assumptions. Recently I came across a content creator from my country who said and proved the following: "No one really cares the way we think they do." It felt weird absorbing that fact. When I realized how true it was, I felt so free!
Don't give people too much power when they really have NONE. In the end, what really matters is finding what feels good FOR YOU.

I love your content on both YT and Instagram. I'm actually considering learning how to make short form content because I miss making videos but I think for YT I would do sit down videos like you are. Short form content is so much fun to watch, especially on insta and the more I work and get older the less of an attention span I have 😅 I also am quite busy so that's why I rarely comment or watch all videos, but I love your content the most when it is chill and you just talk to the camera, I feel like I'm chatting with a friend :)

Honestly dude with the engagement being low it possibly has to do with your shift of content. I'm all for your shift in content as a long time fan. But most of how I found you and your content was through your Korean language learning videos. While it was a great way to be introduced to you . The issue is if you keep doing it people may lose interest and if you shift content people may lose interest. All of that is to say do you and the people who like your content will stay ❤
Edit: also I don't want to tell you what to do in your videos but I believe videos of you speaking Korean to people and having the raw engagement with friends or what have you would be nice for the learners here

Happy New year! I have a quick question I want to study abroad next summer in Korea but I have a feeling my parents will say no because they are considered for my safety. Are there any real big safety concerns in Korea. Thank you and Happy New Year again!
Korea is regarded as a safe country overall. I travelled there many times on my own and never felt in danger. However, this does not mean that nothing can happen there either. Real life is different from K dramas, so do not do things that you wouldn't do in your own country i.e. being outside on your own in a creepy part of Seoul late at night for example. It's normal for your parents to be concerned, just like it is normal for you to want to live this experience. They are more likely to say yes if you acknowledge their concerns and show them that you are responsible and can keep yourself safe.😊

I agree with everything Seoul Mate said~ Most of the time Korea is extremely safe~ However, it is still possible to end up in uncomfortable or even dangerous situations if you don't stay mindful of your surroundings~

I probably have an unpopular opinion but I don't think influencers/content creators really need to interact and reply....if I leave a comment I don't really expect a reply and would never get upset if I didn't get a reply.....I guess I feel like it's going to the movies I go and I watch the movie but I don't expect interaction.....I know interaction helps with the views and subscribers and potentially dollars but creators and influencers are people and they 1. need breaks 2. should be allowed to interact with people in a kind manner and not have to deal with so much negativity from viewers 3. make the content they love 4. not be ridiculed for taking their health mental or otherwise or just life in general into consideration when posting or not posting......in the real workplace in the US and many other places there are rules, laws, guidelines, and policies that protect workers.........that's not really feasible for social media but can't we all as viewers then provide that common sense and decency?
also I'm here in Korea as well but would still love to travel with you, even though I'm definitely older than you lol, because I love Korea and I just feel like I haven't explored Korea well enough for how long I've been here (love learning about history, food, and culture), or other countries.....I'm not a good solo traveler always worrying about when/how/where and my friends/family never have time to travel with me....my husband and I have the same DAY off maybe twice a year...
