I hope they never, ever get rid of this classic! 1st time I rode this was Labor Day Weekend 1976. Then 10 years later in Aug. 1986 was the last time. I hope to ride it once again for its 50th year in 2016. :-)
This was a fun classic ride. If they get rid of any ride I think they should throw out la vibora it’s painful, seen better days, outdated, and just plain ugly with the paint they have on it.
I have rode this ride many many times, seems like it was much faster than the video shows though, especially the last drop after the saloon. This was the first coaster built at six flags..brings back great memories!
martindx1961 When you're on the front car, you have to wait for the rest of the train to catch up to the drop, and it seems slower. The back car gets all the whipping.
Thanks for posting the clip. I rode this as a kid circa 1972 to 1980 and have great family memories of riding this train. On some days there was no wait in line so we would ride it over and over. The ride has a lot of charm and I wouldn't complain if they registered it as a history ride like they do old buildings.
I rode this thing as a kid with my Dad when they 1st put it in. It would literally slam "THE LIVING CRAP" out of you with it's extreme sharp turns going left to right and right to left! So many complaint's of whip lash and people with neck problems, just a year or two after they put it in, they did some modifications to the track to tame it down some! Never rode it after they did the "fix"! - Before they did the fix, it may look like a small coaster by today's standard, but believe me, that ride was "WICKED AS HELL"!!! - - My Dad was in his 60's at the time, and people would say to us, "I can't believe you to rode that"! - - - It was on the local news back then about people going to the emergency room with neck problems after the ride! - - - Haha, what a blast though! - - - At 50 something, that's one ride I've never forgotten, clear to this day!
This was the first tubular roller coaster in the United States located in a theme park. Yes, it dates back to the early 60's; however it is one of the original rides at the original Six Flags theme park.
This ride used to be so much better. After several "mishaps" the track was re-engineered to "tame" it quite a bit, shortening it considerably. Also, this used to be a real theme part, but nearly every themed prop in this ride has all but disappeared, leaving only a few sad residual reminders of what this park used to be.
This is still my favorite roller coaster. Sure it isn't fast but speed isn't everything about a coaster. Being close to the ground near trees and landscaping give the illusion of more speed and enhances the ride greatly. I love it at night with all the shadows and lights shining through the trees. Really adds to the ride.
The ride isn't exceptional, but it's a charming old-fashioned ride. Even though I nearly fell out of the coaster when I was 5, I still love it even though I'm 20. It's always a go-to ride whenever I go to Six Flags.
The interim leg between the 2nd and 3rd lifts had been modified from an early version about the mid 70s when there was an accident. For one thing, the waterfall that the train used to ride under is now gone. The track then featured a sharp curve to the left and then right, which has since been smoothed out to more of a straight leg right before the 3rd lift.
It’s so much faster when ur riding it, I rode this yesterday 6 times in a row because it had rained and the park was about to close so no one was in line❤️❤️❤️❤️it’s my favorite ride, along with jugde Roy scream:)
Everytime as a child, I would close my eyes when it went into that saloon because the first time I rode it, it had a clown in it. It was Halloween at the time...and it would move...
Most younger and even middle-aged patrons won’t know this, but this mine train is Not the same ride it always was. Some of the track has been deleted after some problems right after the second lift. The theme props have been neglected and largely removed, including the waterfall cave that the train traveled under right after the ore house lift. There were once large, thick stands of corn plants lining the path of the track, particularly right out of the cue house. Look at older footage to see the difference. Little details make a huge difference.
Such a classic ride, wish they'd updat the trains so I could fit in there :( too tall to ride it nowadays, but its so fun and such a childhood classic.
This was the first TUBULAR steel, not the first steel. Idk what they mean by "tubular" but I didn't believe at first that this was the first steel one.
I really recommend this roller coaster because the drop is REALLY fun, sure it's not a big coaster but it sure is fun BTW I went today.it looks unfun roller coaster but it is REALLY fun, never judge a book by it's cover.🖒🖒🖒
This reminds me of the Gold Rusher at Six Flags Magic Mountain. In fact, both rides are pretty much the same due to the fact they don't have any big drops and pretty much are all curves. Also, they both go at the same speed; 35 mph.
Yeah. At least this one at certain points looks like its going through a mine. Ironically, Gold Rusher was the first coaster built at Magic Mountain but that was long before Six Flags took over.
You must have rode it waaay back when before they modified the track to tame it down some, & took out all the trips 2 the emergency room with it! At 50 something, I can still remember what that felt like 2 this day! :):):) It was so "bad ass", it was actually on the local news way back when with all of the people griping about it & neck injury's! - Couldn't believe it, so me and my Dad had to ride the damned thing twice, on kind of a dare thing! - He was 60 something at the time and no one could believe that we had gotten on it! - I guess stupidity must run in the family='s Hahaha!
Totally agree! Nothing like having your friends and family look at you like you'd just lost your mind, after telling them you and your Dad had been to Six Flags, and rode the mine train twice! Hahaha! :) P.S. if your into music, check out my YT music links channel where I post links in many category's of music including country, (of which my country playlist has 1.8 million views & counting! ua-cam.com/users/christianmusicfan999
Oh man, it's sooo scary. I cried the whole time through. I really wouldn't recommend this cruel and evil ride to anyone. This pain is simply too much to bear. I wouldn't wish this on anyone

I love this old coaster. So many memories and sadly a lot of the people who rode it with me years ago are gone. Hope it stays forever.

I love the Mine Train. I ride it every time I go. It felt so good to watch this :)
same here. reminds me of the big bad john at magic springs, which is the ONLY PURE theme park in my state.
+Brandon Srubar Yep. Sometimes it's nice to just have fun and not feel like the theme park is trying to kill you!
This ride is my childhood. It used to be longer before a derailure shortened it.
Brandon Srubar this ride sucks ;£€€€€€€

Loved this when I was a kid, this and judge roy scream were my first two coasters ever.

even the enjoyable river boat ride is gone.. slow paced but more of a fantasy ride
my brother and i got everyone to sing happy birthday to the mannequins
Matterhorn was also the first coaster to introduce the 'block' system which allowed multiple trains to be run at the same time
The Runaway mine train was the first "Tubular" steel roller coaster; there are other metal ones made before, but the track was not tubular.
Your rides are colourful and fantastic.
This is still my favorite roller coaster. Sure it isn't fast but speed isn't everything about a coaster. Ben Vincent but you get thrown around a lot
No it sucks
When I went. The safety bar didn't go all the way down, so I was holding on like a squirrel on the tallest tree incthe world.
As long as you aren't able to stand fully up then you'll be alright. Trust me I learned that in Finland.

Really fun little ride!
last time I got to ride this was June, 1980. Miss this park a lot!
one of the greatest

I remember the waterfall, and before they modfied it...it was one rowdy ride that would shake you around big time
It’s so much faster when ur riding it, I rode this yesterday 6 times in a row because it had rained and the park was about to close so no one was in line❤️❤️❤️❤️it’s my favorite ride, along with jugde Roy scream:)
When i went in it riding it i saw one of the manacins move
Everytime as a child, I would close my eyes when it went into that saloon because the first time I rode it, it had a clown in it. It was Halloween at the time...and it would move...

Hope to go there soon again. :-)
This ride is awesome
now it is all rusted and stuff, i would love to see it being remastered
My favorite ride!!!!!! I get to go Friday
The same company that created the Matterhorn opened the two rides at the same time. Disney and Six Flags Over Texas both claim the same thing.
this roller coaster is so cool
This makes the last drop look tame.
@coasterking1991 The Mine Train is the first mine train ever built. thats what the record is
anyone know how tall the last drop is? does it keep going down when going into the tunnel? I'm scared of coasters so I like asking before I ride 🙃
Agreed. Ride titan and the new texas giant too! Both my favorite coasters!
First coaster I ever rode. I was to scared of the Texas Giant ( non hybrid model) when I was 8.
Im going to six flags tomorrow I'm so exited woooooo
Who is here during quarantine watching these videos because you can’t go there anymore
It's like an old western saloon. The mannequins are usually moving as the train goes through it.
cool ride enjoyed it.
Such a classic ride, wish they'd updat the trains so I could fit in there :( too tall to ride it nowadays, but its so fun and such a childhood classic.
I love this ride
It was probably because you were sitting towards the back of the train. The back goes faster.
This is almost an exact replica of the dalonica mine train at SFOG
This is a kiddie ride, compared to some of the rides I have been on.
The chain lifts will definitely put your back out of place. I remember that part....
This was the first TUBULAR steel, not the first steel. Idk what they mean by "tubular" but I didn't believe at first that this was the first steel one.
it calms u down
ya it was just like setting the old westerny like mood
i went on there it was fun (i like big rides more) i wasn't expecting the drop and the speed in the tunnel for a kitty ride
@lovinya890 remember the old days when you were a kid.
I really recommend this roller coaster because the drop is REALLY fun, sure it's not a big coaster but it sure is fun BTW I went today.it looks unfun roller coaster but it is REALLY fun, never judge a book by it's cover.🖒🖒🖒

Wait WAIT WTF I REGUSED TO RIDE THIS XDD AND I THOUGHT IT WAS TEXAS GIANT SHIET
Nevermind, it was at different times, but it was the same company.
Are u talking about mr. Freeze reverse blast or the house
Why was the phone shaking so much
This reminds me of the Gold Rusher at Six Flags Magic Mountain. In fact, both rides are pretty much the same due to the fact they don't have any big drops and pretty much are all curves. Also, they both go at the same speed; 35 mph.
Brian Washington I agree. But unlike Gold Rusher this has theming.
I miss Arrow!!
Yeah. At least this one at certain points looks like its going through a mine. Ironically, Gold Rusher was the first coaster built at Magic Mountain but that was long before Six Flags took over.
this was my first rollercoaster ahh memeries
When they mean steel it also says first steel tubular!
youd always here a little kid screaming on the chain lift cause they hit their head
I Subscribed!!!!!!
The whiplash in the middle hurts you neck like you got hit by a car at 700 miles per hour
You must have rode it waaay back when before they modified the track to tame it down some, & took out all the trips 2 the emergency room with it! I’m in my 50’s too, I liked it better in the 70’s & 80’s it was more fun.
