I read this book when it was first published I think. The amazing thing is I've never been to Africa and it very unlikely I ever will. But the writings of Wilber Smith I'm always there .

The part of this book I never forgot, the part that brought me to this cyber space, even after all these years, was the battle of the snipers. The absolute stupidity of war was well described. The rest of the book, devoured in the innocence of youth, I will not endure again.
I am a descendant of enslaved Africans. Ripped from West Africa and stranded on a barren rock in the Caribbean.
The African narratives of white men, no matter how well written can no longer bear. It hurts too much.
Mark Anders grandfather owned no land in South Africa. White "South Africans" still don't own land in South Africa.
The true owners of the land should be identified and some agreement should be made in order to take South Africa forward.
That is, if they really want to fix the country to everyone's benefit.
South Africa obviously needs co-operation between the parties.

      Were you enslaved?!
      Your ancestors?
      So were mine.
      How do we proceed?
Keep on picking at the past or looking towards a better future?
