Budget surround sound gets my vote! Its a great door to open for people who are just getting started and dont want to put out tons of money. Lots of people out there who dont care about the top end equipment.
They sound pretty decent! Yes, Kpaceguy, I'd look forward to a budget-friendly surround sound system video using an additional pair of these speakers and the matching centre speaker. :)
These look similar to my Klupsch Quintet 5.0. Specifically the 5th generation before Klipsch added the copper coloured woofers. The 5th gen were made from AcoustiComp and that stuff is dense and sonically dead. I use them for my surrounds and heights in my apartment and they get loud enough for my space.
That's rare to find a decent bookshelf speaker at this price that sounds good honestly so I'm surprised. I run bookshelf speakers for my satellite speakers Polk Audio T-15's to be exact and they sound amazing. I also run Polk Audio T-30 center channel and 2 Polk Audio 12" powered subs PSW505 and Polk Audio in ceiling Dolby Atmos speakers with a Denon 8K amp and it sounds amazing. But the satellite speakers were over $100 a pair and I have 4 pair of them so 8 satellites 4 ceiling 2 subs I center and I am satisfied with my system. Finding a cheap pair of satellite/bookshelf speakers for this cheap and also sound good is impressive. Great video on this.
I'd definitely high-pass them in the AVR even if you don't have a sub connected, to protect them during loud listening. Those small drivers won't take a lot of power
I just learned that LFE input on the Subwoofer is only for Movies/Home Theater and the RCA left & right or Red & White is for Music but also Movies, definitely needed for Music as some subwoofers won't work good with LFE. XLR is just 3 pins- Ground, Signal Positive and Signal Negative. Thought expensive Amps have XLR output but saw some for $200 range.
People think the Y adapter will split the signal power in half but it doesn't do that, you get More Signal power. Auto On Off mode on Subs works better with RCA Dual.
The single RCA being a Coaxial Cable could be slightly better quality as it's used for Dolby Digital and DTS as well as Video signal for several years. What do you think, have you heard the difference in sound quality between single Coaxial vs Dual RCA pair ?
It is very easy to get good sound at a cheap price. I bought the lg ht303, from gumtree (2nd hand), for £30. Its a home theatre in a box, and comes with subwoofer and small speakers. Its still the best sound ive ever had. Just whacked up the subwoofer to max, and its better than my friends £800 rel subwoofer.
The cheapest speakers i have bought were 59 for the center and 79 for a pair of bookshelves. They are the only speakers I have ever bought lol. They are Andrew Jones Pioneers though and were on sale (maybe a clearance sale). For the price they sound great to me. I read several reviews from back when they came out like 10 or so years ago saying they competed with speakers 3-5xs their price though. The only minor complaint is that I have to turn up my Yamaha pretty high to get them to preform but they do well at -5 or -10 on the rare occasion I push them to reference level (90-100db). I normally run at -15 - -25 (about 70-80 db) Any way they work for my me and the very small budget I had. Maybe one day I will upgrade them and use them for something else. And yes I'd like to see you do a video on the cheapest 5.1 setup possible.
Seem pretty good value for money. :) Of course i would never use as my main system. Maybe possibly for a bedroom..but atm i got the wharfedale dx2's in there. Anyway when you say mid bass on these i think they would probably sound pretty decent with a sub and other 3 speakers..yes you should do it :) Btw i hope dont mind me going off topic here. I think it was one of your videos where you spoken about setting the crossover about 10 above your lowest frequency for the speakers, this is a good tip imo. But i finally got mines the way i want. It taken me a very long time though. It seems to me if you have big main left and right towers don't set them to small, set them to large as i felt if you set them to small i could never get them to blend correctly with the bass from the woofer ..it was way too much. I also felt the range i get out of my front left and right gets completely diiminished when i set theem to small. It seems to me the best way to set them with big left and right towers is set them to large and just let the other speakers deal with the crossover to the sub. I am sorry for going off topic i couldn't find my original comment ;) thumbs up btw very interesting video especially for someone looking for a very cheap surround system.
. Well, since there's no definition to "acting like" or "enhancing" we'll have to lean on physics instead. In this case, the port on the rear of the Saiyins is concentrating a wave of air pressure towards the suspended cone diaphragms of the towers behind. This wave energy is not deflected away but is converted back to electrical energy and heat. Thus the port pressure is "absorbed" making the towers effectively bass traps. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
The real question is can you find a sub and reciever cheap enough for the cheapest home theater setup video? I keep seeing kef cube subs for 50$ here in orlando, might be worth it, along with like 50$ on an older 5.1 or 7.1 reciever?
For the starting out or 2nd room, what about 2 channel with a sub? I can vouch for Elac's Sub1010, currently $150. It's easy enough to expand that to 5.1.
Looking for a new speakers pair with subwoofer for my computer... No Speaker Wires just the 3.5 mm plug or headphones type computer connection (Graphics Card/Intel UHD 770). Logitech Z407 is all i have found so far, might buy it.
@@Kpaceguy Thanks. I do see that Amazon has already bumped up the price to $49 a pair. Since Amazon has 50% of the national market they can get away with price bumping.
These are difficult speakers to drive; sound better with a good power amp. A cheap Chinese Class D amp ain't gonna do these justice. Also, add a subwoofer and these aren't that bad at all. But for 40 clams, reallu good value.
@andrewskaterrr I think anyone who has the ability to click play on a video also knows the world's best speaker isn't $40. Obviously, the title is to bring attention to how good these speakers actually are. I'll do it again.
VERY IMPRESSIVE for such small size!I can hear the bass thru my speakers!I like the design style btw!$40!?Really??I'd LOOOOVE to hear those with the center ch& a small subwoofer that matches!Wow WHO Made those!?Is that an American based/made in China speaker?Or....?IF I need a small pr in my bedroom,I'll grab these little speakers that could!Nice review/opinion piece as usual my bro!
You're really not getting the full effect of the low end with the Kefs behind them. Them things really dig deep when placed to close to the wall and the don't sound bloated at either. The xovers used are very accurate.
I absolutely would love to see a 5.1 review.
I'd definitely like to see these as a 5.1 setup with the absolute cheapest powered subwoofer on Amazon for a world's cheapest setup series
Go all the way with it. Find a refurbed 5.1 receiver as well. As long as it's got HDMI it should work
@@TokeBoisen I bought my dad a refurbished denon directly from them that was half the price of new a few years ago.

Yes try buy the matching stuff. Nothing more fun than new speakers
They give me micca rb42 vibes with the small but kinda beefy drivers. They do seem to sound pretty good!
Yes please! Get the 3.0 and then have 5.0 speak set. And use the Klipsh sud you just reviewed!!

This is like REAL cheap audio stuff. You should definitely do a full 5.1.4 from this speakers series. Im curious of the outcome.
Ima be real here I have a pair of active studio monitors and they’re relatively small but they have an amazing range for their size!

Your towers may be acting like a large cabinet since they are directly behind the small speakers enhancing the sound??
I'd say the affect is minimal since the port on the back is very small

Got measurements to back that up? This things are limited by physics: a driver that small can only do so much before it doesnt.
