Oh, this is gonna be a great watch. Three reccommendations / bits of advice I give to anyone I reccommed this series to: 1) Don't look into the series too deep before you're done - like Undertale, it's best blind. 2) The series is divided into 5 "Seasons", 40 episodes each. Might be useful in deciding how to divide your youtube episodes. 3) The sound design - primarily the volume control - is a little rough early on. They get MUCH better later on, to the point where I would say that sound design is a massive strength of the series overall - but hoo boy, do a couple of those early episodes hurt the ears quite suddenly. Fair warning there.
1) I am keeping myself far away from anything related to spoilers, and luckily I actually know nothing about what any of the plot entails. I do know about the line "sorry for the deception," but that's quite literally it. No idea of the context, who's talking, or who they're talking to. That's partially the reason I'm so excited about this venture---I have genuinely absolutely no idea what's going to happen. 2) My researchers informed me after this video of the Season breaks. I'm going to assume my episodes will consist of two per Season, unless there's a VERY particularly informative episode that might lead to a different segmentation. 3) I have been told this as well, which I'm rather happy about. I typically listen to podcasts in the car, however, many episodes of the first season were so quiet that the background noise of the highway was too overpowering to hear. I'm not one to talk tho---the audio quality in this first video of mine is egregious, and will be promptly fixed in the next installment. Consider it, an accidental diegetic flare. -E. E.
1) Oh, that's gonna be FUN when we get to that line then. Keep your ignorance for as long as you can, it'll make that moment SO much better. Without spoiling anything - I'll say that you've already come to some interesting conclusions - though I will not confirm any accuracy. 3) Yeah, the first season-and-a-half or so is real quiet MOST of the time - which makes the few moments where they decide to be very distinctly NOT quiet physically painful if you're listening to it the wrong way. And don't worry about your audio quality in this video - the effects added to the charm as far as I'm concerned.

This is going to be great ! I can't wait for you to finish this amazing story. I know I am not the only seasoned listener, here to giggle in the back of the classroom at every remark or turn of phrase you do not yet realize the truthfulness of. Creator of this video, first time listeners, the rest of this comment is not for you. 1:56 "What is the institute archiving, and why ?" Asking the right questions already, I see 3:02 "Jonathan Sims, the actor, has this amazing quality the be the only person in the room, yet make every statement incredibly distinct through his tone and inflection" 4:53 "Elias Bouchard sounds decent enough" 6:51 "I can only assume that these patrons will return in later stories, predictably as an obstacle towards Jonathan's archiving" I love how the only mistake in this sentence is "these patrons", as Lukas does not deal in plurals. 9:07 "perhaps Martin is a vampire" PERHAPS MARTIN IS A VAMPIRE (I'm on the floor) 17:33 "what is the divine host ? [...] was it Gertrude ? Will it be Jonathan ?"
oh this is amazing, and really is the perfect way to experience the story I won't say anything on the theories, since I have finished tma, but it's really cool to see someone experience it all for the first time! Also the whole video is made so well
As someone who has recently watched and finished the series during Halloween last year, I am incredibly excited to see how your own theories and investigations pan out. To quote from the S1 trailer- Audio. Vigilo. Opperior.
Im so excited to see you experience this for the first time. I am ALSO caught up on wtnv. I have a TMA tattoo (my first and only tattoo so u can see how much it affected me). And if you want any more podcast recs from someone with similar taste then i recommend "Malevolant" and "The Penumbra Podcast". ^_^
I listened to this podcast whenever I sat down to sketch. I listened to it over the span of a few years so I didn't necessarily keep track of all the facts or anything. But I still enjoyed it so much and even all the way in season 5, it still managed to shock me with twists. I love how it gives you individual little horror stories but those individual stories all fit into the larger overarching plot. It is, simply so good. And it really takes advantage of the media by not discribing every visual and letting your imagination run wild. I'm very glad to come across a video like this bc its going to be really interesting to watch you try and figure out what is going on.
I just finished my first relisten today and I wish I did this during my first listen. I can’t wait for you to get further in. The edits when you spoke as the characters are so cool. You are definitely going to need some more string though.
I'm so glad i stumbled across this video!!! can't wait to hear your thoughts on the rest of the series. I started listening to TMA last year and i had no idea it was the kind of series where every detail mattered and I listened at a very slow pace at the start so by the time I got to the point where things really started to connect i had forgotten a lot and it left me confused at times. I had to relisten to the whole series to remember when some important names first came up [some of which are mentioned in this video :) ]. It's so fun to see you doing the theorizing I never took the time to do and making some connections I didn't until a relisten!! I won't say what it was but there's something in specific you brought up that is on the right track and which i had absolutely never considered before. I look forward to more of this series!!!
Excited to see you progress further into the story! A couple messages (SPOILER FREE) for anyone else new to the series: I suspect as time goes on, a few more columns will need to be added to the spreadsheets 😅 Paying attention to names helps a great deal! Avoid the wiki articles about characters if you want to avoid spoilers The comments sections on the videos frequently have spoilers Gerard and Jared’s first names are pronounced similarly in many episodes :( Rusty Quill’s UA-cam page has some playlists on it which group…*certain* episodes together, which could be considered spoiler-y in and of itself. Avoid the playlist page and consider sticking strictly to Fan-made playlists that have them in episode order. The director/producer Alex Newell will soon become a series mainstay voice acting one of the other members of the institute! In the early seasons, featured voice actors who aren’t John will be credited all in one batch at the end of the last episode in each season. Later on, featured appearances by voice actors are credited per episode at the end of each episode. And finally, a question: why does John seem to loathe the name Jurgen Leitner so soon after hearing about him in the statements? 🤔
Ohohoh, this is certainly interesting! As someone who went through the entirety of TMA last year I'm excited to see other people delving into this wonderful and horrific podcast. I hope you enjoy your time here!
Holy shit this is so interesting to see, as someone who obsessively kept notes basically throughout all of my first listen of TMA I can tell you it really pays off. Can’t wait for the next episodes, good luck on your journey!
this is a very clever idea! i hope that you, like jon, get drawn ever deeper into the need to know and understand exactly what's going on - and i _really_ hope that, when you find out what the archive truly is, you are as satisfied with the synthesis of information as i was
i know you're not reading this comment, but hopefully the sentiment will be passed along to you. this is such a cool concept, and i am already so invested in your theories and ideas. the format and aesthetic of this video are perfect, and incredibly engaging. i have not fully finished the podcast, but i am on the last season (and, unfortunately, have heard quite thorough spoilers for how it ends) and I wish i had engaged with it like this on my first listen through. i think keeping track of all the details, names, etc, would have been very helpful for me, since i cannot tell you how many times i had to go back and relisten to previous episodes because i had forgotten what had apparently been a very important name. I look forward to watching your next updates, and i wish you all the best in your investigations. (p.s. this isn't too important of a note since I'm sure you are already aware, but there are some unofficial transcripts of all TMA episodes available online. I have found them quite helpful when trying to track down specific details, since you can just ctrl+f whatever name or phrase you are trying to find, rather than listening to an entire episode again. Also, some of the audio descriptions that they provide can be very funny (once you have listened to MAG080, you will likely know what i am referring to) so sometimes they are worth reading even if you don't need to.)
Luckily, I've had my hands on those transcripts for a while, they've proved extremely helpful with their Ctrl+ F function, particularly in the "Motifs" section. Another helpful hint I've been given from one of my researchers is that Mr. Jonathan Sims sometimes mixes up the pronunciations for the names "Gerard" and "Jared," which is both humorous and makes the transcripts extra helpful. -E. E.
I’m so excited to see how you progress in the series! I love this series so much! I’m in the process of formatting the transcript into a book to print for a friend bc they can’t do audio based media
I will warn you (it will be mentioned in my next video), the official transcripts are often incorrect. Aside from formatting issues, Episode 09 A Father's Love excludes Robert Montauk's death, and episode 40 Human Remains completely excludes Jonathan Sims's Post Statement. As I frequently use the transcripts to write my spreadsheet, it makes the venture... Difficult. -E. E.
@ thank you, I assumed the mistakes would be more in descriptions of sound effects which can be p subjective. I’ll have to do a relisten for accuracy’s sake.
@@huniebean If you're open to sharing, feel free to send any other story-related transcript issues my way. I'll credit you, of course. While I'd do it myself, my hands are a bit full at the moment with the rest of the research... I'm running out of daylight to include a relisten while observing all the transcripts. -E. E.
This is wonderful, I've never seen anyone else doing something similar and I am exited for all future theories and what connections you might make that I missed my first time through. Smart decision on not reading the comments, better for your first time to be purely your own.
I've been putting the comments through my researchers prior to responding, and am honestly quite shocked to have not had a single spoiler. Hopefully that maintains. Outside of that, yes all of my theories and connections are entirely on my own. I've only been given one or two "meta tips" from my researchers, such as the fact that Mr. Jonathan Sims sometimes mixes up the pronunciations of the names "Gerard" and "Jared" -E. E.
I know that you won’t be reading this (for good reason), but I wanted to say that this video is absolutely amazing! The way that you presented everything was marvelous and as someone who has listened to every episode multiple times it was really cool to listen to your theories!
Why thank you for your kind sentiments. As of uploading, I've officially finished listening to Season One (as can be seen with the spreadsheet). While I still stand by most of these theories... I have noticed... Martin is certainly not a vampire... I look forward to including a "corrections" category in future videos. -E. E.

I'll be sure to correct this unfortunate mistake, as to, as you say, "lay some respect" onto our friend Joshua. Tell me what you think of Episode 34 - it is one of my new favorites. -E. E.

Oh, this is so cool! I guess I found my new favourite youtube series. I am very excited to see you continue to theorize and watch everything unfold.
Happy to have you on board for this adventure. -E. E.
Oh, as a fan of tma (I'm in the middle of listening it for the 5th time) this is so fun!!!
It's very fun to listen to your theories and the connections you've made, some of them were really eyeopening to me because I’m terrible with names and dates and only now am able to have the realization that things are more connected than I first thought. I hope you enjoy the rest of the podcast!!!
Oh, I'm so excited to see more of this. TMA is a great series to theorise about. The production value was also incredibly cool; I love the editing you put into this. Bonus points for using the NITW OST :3
My academic detachment fled me with that one... I am simply quite fond of the game. I think it contributed to the, how you say, "low-fi charm" of it all. -E. E.
This... is going to be fun.
Going to start my third listen through at the beginning of the year. I think I will listen along with you, this feels like it will be a fun time
This is exactly what I'm going for. Thank you for coming along for the ride. -E. E
Oh this is SOOOOO fun! Magnus Archives is my favorite horror media of all time, it is so so fun seeing you try and piece it all together. Especially seeing old familiar names and elements…. You’re in for a wild ride
How dare UA-cam hide this from me?? This is amazing
They are going to need a bigger piece of cardboard
This is going to be great ! I can't wait for you to finish this amazing story. I know I am not the only seasoned listener, here to giggle in the back of the classroom at every remark or turn of phrase you do not yet realize the truthfulness of. Creator of this video, first time listeners, the rest of this comment is not for you.
1:56 "What is the institute archiving, and why ?" Asking the right questions already, I see
3:02 "Jonathan Sims, the actor, has this amazing quality the be the only person in the room, yet make every statement incredibly distinct through his tone and inflection"
4:53 "Elias Bouchard sounds decent enough"
6:51 "I can only assume that these patrons will return in later stories, predictably as an obstacle towards Jonathan's archiving" I love how the only mistake in this sentence is "these patrons", as Lukas does not deal in plurals.
9:07 "perhaps Martin is a vampire" PERHAPS MARTIN IS A VAMPIRE (I'm on the floor)
17:33 "what is the divine host ? [...] was it Gertrude ? Will it be Jonathan ?"
A first time listener here, just started season 3. Really excited to see what you think
oh this is amazing, and really is the perfect way to experience the story
I won't say anything on the theories, since I have finished tma, but it's really cool to see someone experience it all for the first time! Also the whole video is made so well
here this video pops up in my recommended just as I finish the series for the first time. What. A. Treat. ❤
Same!! Hit episode 200 less than a week ago 😅
As someone who knows tma at this point in miniscule details im exited to see what you'll get correct and what you get wrong :>
As someone who has recently watched and finished the series during Halloween last year, I am incredibly excited to see how your own theories and investigations pan out.
To quote from the S1 trailer-
Audio. Vigilo. Opperior.
Oh, look! You got a new subscriber!
I finished WTNV too but it took me years (I joined roughly when ep 100 came out). I'm so happy more WTNV fans are picking up TMA
omg I love the board and now want to make one too
This is so amazing because I am listening to TMA for the first time and this recap is so helpful
You are in for a RIDE! I really hope you keep this up as a series
!! SPOILERS !!
Laughed so hard when you said Elias “seems decent enough.”
Me too!! He does just seem to… know how to help :)
aaa! please do more of this your work is delightful
Trust me, there is plenty more to come. -E. E.
I've been meaning to find a video like this, hope you continue to enjoy TMA ❤ 👁
Oh this is good, interesting to see you catching things that may or may not be important later
So glad the algorithm recommended this to me! Should be a fun ride
Get ready for terror and pain
@@Zerelex ah... Another concerning message. I feel like these are bordering on threats. -E. E.
@ oh, don’t worry.
You’ll have more of those soon….
@@Zerelex I... Ah... Hm. Good luck trying to stop me, then. -E. E.
Glad I got recommended you, looking forward to your future work.
Excited to see you progress further into the story! A couple messages (SPOILER FREE) for anyone else new to the series:
I suspect as time goes on, a few more columns will need to be added to the spreadsheets 😅
Paying attention to names helps a great deal!
Avoid the wiki articles about characters if you want to avoid spoilers
The comments sections on the videos frequently have spoilers
Gerard and Jared’s first names are pronounced similarly in many episodes :(
Rusty Quill’s UA-cam page has some playlists on it which group…*certain* episodes together, which could be considered spoiler-y in and of itself.
Spoilers ⬇️
Vampire!Martin is my new favorite thing
Holy shit this is so interesting to see, as someone who obsessively kept notes basically throughout all of my first listen of TMA I can tell you it really pays off. Can’t wait for the next episodes, good luck on your journey!
this is a very clever idea! i hope that you, like jon, get drawn ever deeper into the need to know and understand exactly what's going on - and i _really_ hope that, when you find out what the archive truly is, you are as satisfied with the synthesis of information as i was
It must be fate. I have listened to the first 18 episodes precisely lol
The presentation of this is great! Can’t wait for your theories on the next episodes
Oh this rules. I'm so excited to be along for this ride. Yes yes yes.
i know you're not reading this comment, but hopefully the sentiment will be passed along to you. this is such a cool concept, and i am already so invested in your theories and ideas. the format and aesthetic of this video are perfect, and incredibly engaging. i have not fully finished the podcast, but i am on the last season (and, unfortunately, have heard quite thorough spoilers for how it ends) and I wish i had engaged with it like this on my first listen through. i think keeping track of all the details, names, etc, would have been very helpful for me, since i cannot tell you how many times i had to go back and relisten to previous episodes because i had forgotten what had apparently been a very important name.
This is such a cool concept, honestly a perfect way to engage with something likd tma!!! Looking forward to more of your thoughts and theories
You are going to love this one. I loved this series so much.
I'm currently listening for the first time too! I'm on episode 33 right now, so I can't wait to watch the rest of the series as you go!! one quick thing- lay some respect on the name of Joshua Gillespie (not Jonathan Gillespie!) aka one of the smartest characters I've ever encountered
I'll be sure to correct this unfortunate mistake, as to, as you say, "lay some respect" onto our friend Joshua. Tell me what you think of Episode 34 - it is one of my new favorites. -E. E.
this is absolutely the best way to get into tma! im excited to see your theories!
WOW!! This channel is so underrated!! The quality of the video and the theories are so well thought out, it's immensely impressive!! I'm so excited to see what your future tma theories will be like
Another to join the fold. Oh, how I await to see what paths this story will twist your mind into as you fall into its web.
While I appreciate the sentiment of support, I find your ominous phrasing rather... Disturbing. -E. E.
I have watched the entire show so this shall be a fun video to see!
impeccable vibes. subscribing right away.
So glad I decided to watch this and very excited to see where it leads. Especially as I'm currently attempting something similar as I slowly make my way through TMA's sequel series, The Magnus Protocol. Mostly out of regret for not doing so when I first listened to TMA. Which is why I'm so excited to see someone else do what I never could (and better than I ever will!)
im 2 minutes in PLEASE add subtitles im using my full brain power and can still barely tell whats being said ):
edit: the autogenerated ones seem pretty accurate actually!
Ohh I'm absolutely going to be following this, I'm always so excited to see people experience tma!
You're missing an ozone episode on your board. Reference to burnt hair smell in burned out is also ozone. Also lichenburg lightning is a fractal pattern
Ah. I'll see my researchers on to that fix quickly. Thank you, stranger. -E. E.
I can't believe the youtube algorithm showed me this so early! I'm very excited to hear your thoughts, especially for the later episodes!
Ohh this is a perfect opportunity to do a relisten
This is gonna be a wild ride
I’m also listening to the magnus archives for the first time I started almot half month ago I can’t believe I found this!
It sounds like we will be figuring it out together, then. I look forward to it. -E. E.
Holy shit, this is awesome?
0:45 omg SMOSH MENTIONED haha
I am so excited for you to experienced the rest of the series!
Also, it's not a spoiler, but I'm excited to see how you handle the number of Michaels.
@@iupooiresa I assure you I've already began to notice an uncanny number of Michaels. This is going to make the archiving... Rather difficult... -E. E.
Time to experience this alongside you
YEEEEEES, I ADORE THIS, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!
I’ve been waiting for someone to do a video like this! Also love the 36 questions shout out!
Ohhh I'm so excited to hear your theories! I just finished The Magnus Archives, and I think it's so fun to see someone's thoughts and ideas from the very beginning :)
Ok I finshed the series yesterday and I have started this month my favourite episode was the spider one but that is that while listening a real spider crawled on my hand (probably caught him in a forest) and that moment just made the episode so memorable to me
Also I love the video I wanted to experience it similarly but I'm just too lazy to organise it like you did
My opinion on Arachnophobia has already aged rather terribly, seeing what it has led up to during Episode 22 Colony. -E.E.
Banger video mate
36 questions?! You maybe my idol
The Truth Is... it's likely my favorite musical. Outside of my academic archivalry, my favorite song from it is One Thing. -E. E.
Oh! Cool. Podcast reaction!
Ooooh this is such a cool idea! I was also late to the game, and binged the entire show this summer. In hindsight, keeping notes would've definitely been beneficial. Looking forward to following this along!
Love the editing!
