Being a Golden Retriever Owner I can tell that it's not as easy as it seems to raise a Goldie. Even though they are one of the most intelligent and gentle dogs, there are quite a few challenges that every new parent goes through. To experience the love of a Golden is like nothing else. I love dogs but Goldens are so special. It's like the difference between the speed of sound and the speed of light.
Scenario: Thieves break into house with Golden Retriever
Retriever: "Hi! Here's the silver! Over there's where they keep the jewelry! Can I help you carry out the T.V.?"

First time getting a golden(we always had dogs but different breeds like GSD)they’re amazing.Mine now is 7 almost 8yo .He’s a cutie,listens well and loves to learn new things.Good at activities and very happy.Love to stay with you all the time,love attention and love to sleep.They’ll anything for food and treats🥰🥰

Puppies eat everything if you are not careful. My neighbour’s Golden puppy has had 2 surgeries to remove socks and underwear. Some people never learn
They are also stubborn at times. So, sometimes training or obedience goes well and sometimes not. But mostly well if you're patient.
They are very curious and have powerful sniffers. They also like to experience whatever with their tongues. While they typically get along with cats, cats tend to resent the power of a Golden's sniffer on the cat's hind end. Breathing in or out, the cat will know it's been sniffed by the Golden as they don't really have a discreet setting or the ability to adjust the power of their noses.
And, Golden's can easily overwhelm even their best cat friend by kissing (slobbering) in the cat's ears or on his face. Even a quick and gentle lick results in the Golden washing the cat more in one second than the cat could do to itself all day. Watching the cat's reaction is hysterical though.
My Golden's know the word "Gentle" with the cats means to not move a muscle while the cat weaves in and out of the dog's legs or when the cat slowly saunters by. Retrievers like to run and pounce on one another. Imagine how that looks to a cat whose about 10 pounds and about six inches off the ground when a Golden who is four times as tall and 7 times as heavy comes bounding down the hall toward or behind the cat.
Cats will usually keep their claws in when pawing at the dog's face for fun or to try to teach the Golden to be gentle. If it doesn't work, the claws come out and the Golden can get a painful reality--physically and emotionally. "Why did my friend hurt me?"
However, cats beware. A gentle Golden who thinks the cat is playing tag, might gently use a paw to tap the cat. It can be the most gentle of taps ever and still knock the cat clear off the chair, table, or whatever. And then sensing that he may have hurt his feline friend, the cat will experience Golden kisses, which tend to be as wet as a teen boy's first attempt at kissing. Tongue dehydration is not something Golden's ever experience.
And going back to noses, if the Golden catches a scent, he won't distract easily until his sniffer and brain have satisfied their curiosity and cataloged the smell. There isn't a hole in the ground or vegetation that a Golden won't stick his nose into. They have no fear of what might be in there, so be careful!

As someone who has had three Goldens in three life, 2 growing up and new little girl we just got this past weekend, they are great at running agility and obedience. Our first girl that we had growing up was a absolute speed demon on the course, even in her older years. Our boy definitely wasn’t a great as our first girl on the course, but he was more of an obedience dog. Hell, our little girl is already learning things faster than our cocker spaniel has learned, and our cocker is also a fast learner.
They also love to wonder and explore if you have a big yard or a wide open field. I know our first girl would sneak out of the yard and walk herself along the road and pop back in our driveway. It always scared me when she did that for obvious reason, even though we live on a back road, but I knew she’d always come back. Our boy on the other hand would just wonder the woods and field next to our house.
The ones we’ve had weren’t really barkers, expect the little one when she’s in her kennel mainly due to her being attached to us. The first girl would bark at us if we wouldn’t throw a ball we were playing with fast enough for her liking, or when she was on the course and we made a mistake during the run. Or boy would bark for attention.
Adding on the segment about them loving water, they absolutely love dock diving. Our first girl loved diving into the water. Anytime we went to a family member’s house and they had a pool, our old girl would always be one of the first ones in the pool. Our boy was the same way, but he was a little more careful. Our little girl we don’t know if she is going be in love with swimming, due to her being very young still and it’s kinda hard to do that if you don’t have an indoor pool like some people have.

I have a super super my hear my love my every thing a 2 year old Golden Retriever. One great naughty habit you left, he took briefs and vests if they pit outside Ina hander, he too and show then he runs away with that. The I need to follow him to take. He runs rounds around the house. Every day I take him for morning and evening walk and even after completing 3.5 kms he insists for more. I am a very very most happy golden retriever owner the world.

My golden retriever doesn’t really have a problem with eating and we only feed him once a day. We take him out every weekend to the dog park and the dog beach. My little Marley is very picky for some reason but other than that everything else is very accurate lol.

Do you have a nearby green area or dog park? Do you have an area outside he can do his business? Why should Golden lovers without a back yard do without the love and affection this breed can give?
My niece lives in Toronto in a high rise building and walks her dog about 3 to 4 times a day.

Also stubborn my baby knows how to go in crate during meal time but when it's bed time forget about it, he will pop him self on the ground and won't move even when I give him a nug, he's not over weight but he is heavy and he knows it

#11 Goldens actually are poor pets. If you want a pet, look elsewhere. If you want a true friend, a buddy that will be adopted into your family? Perfect. Just understand you are adopting a family member, not getting a pet. I am serious, I think it goes much easier if you go into it abandoning the concept of a 'pet', and simply accepting that your Golden will be a friend and member of your family. This characteristic is actually the culmination of other traits mentioned... How affection they are, how much they like to be included, how much they will love you, etc. They will see you as family, easier if you see them the same way.
Now, if you befriend a Golden, love them and consider them family, you are in for one of the coolest experiences you can have with a dog. There are no better buddies than a Golden Retriever. If 'buddy' was a job, Goldens would be serious professionals.
So drive the word 'pet' from your mind. That label doesn't fit here. If you want a pet, get a goldfish. If you want a buddy for life that will be true family, yeah, consider a Golden Retriever.
Our last girl, Emma just turned 11 on Christmas Day. Ache had Leukaemia and passed on January 3. We feel like we have lost a child, the grief is overwhelming. The more you love, the greater the grief.

Goldie's always have to have something in their mouths when they greet you.
Goldie's are scared or thunderstorms and will hide behind your chair for protection.
We were really lucky. The girl that we got when she was 5 was trained as a duck hunter. She was quite used to the sound of a gun so was not afraid of thunder or fireworks. We could go out on days or nights when it rained and thundered and not worry.
They are playful and active than labradors❤️❤️

Hello! I have a question I don't have a golden retriever but I want to adopt . But I am vegetarian so can I give my golden retriever only non veg dog food I mean I can't give him chicken or boiled eggs but I can give him dry chicken dog food so can I?

You have to be careful. There are people that look in backyards that would steal that dog without thinking. And our neighbour’s on the other sides dog barks when he is left out more that 20 minutes because he gets bored and lonely. He used to come and play with my girl, Emma but in September she had a Splenectomy and we found out later that week that she had Leukaemia. Another thing about Goldens. We have had two from different breeders, both got Cancer, Brandy at 7 and Emma at 11

How much do we need to feed the golden retriever
We fed according to weight. Emma was 65 lbs so needed 2 burgers plus vegetables. She ate raw which is really good for her body and her teeth. The burgers were 1/3 meat, 1/3 organ meat and a little under 1/3 bone. It was so convenient.
My Golden doesn't eat rice but he is till just 80 days I don't know what to feed him I feed him curd rice or dhal but then he doesn't eat them and he is becoming very thin can u suggest what I can feed him 🙏pls comment he is very hungry daily but doesn't eat rice 😔
In your dog's puppy stage, you are usually recommended to feed them dog food because at that stage they need all the nutrients they could get and such nutrients cannot be found in homemade foods like rice, curd, etc. I will advice you to visit your vet and ask for further guidance.

Don't do it please. Dogs have their own food. They need all the nutrients present in their food. You can still be vegetarian, but please don't make your dog a vegetarian too.

Your Golden retriever will need a sweater or a coat outside if the temperature drops below 20°F (-6.7°C) because that's too cold for them but that's rarely a case when you live in India!

Mine barks when he sees people and jumps on them, but it doesn't mean he doesn't like them. In fact, the opposite. He gets over excited and barking and jumping is the result. We are working on his reactivity skills so that he learns how to properly interact with people and other dogs. Keeping them social is important, so don't hide them away. Hire a trainer if you need to for help on reactivity. And don't forget, he is a puppy doing what puppies do.
