What can you expect? It's Hyundai quality 😂 I'm honestly not sure how on earth are they still allowed to be in business. If I had control over what businesses are allowed to operate in the USA; Hyundai and Kia would be banned for ever, for the safety of everyone. Engines getting caught on fire, terrible build quality, bad transmissions, horrible warranty claim process, top most cars, etc. It's so bad!
@@o2cool321 As you ignore the 5+ Hyundai/Genesis models that gjust ot good/acceptable ratings. There's a reason you're not allowed to be in control lol
@@o2cool321That’s why you’re not in control
@@Whatitup Good or acceptable is not enough, as how bad they are in reliability and warranty claim process. You're dead on the road no matter what. Either it catches on fire, leaves you stranded on a busy highway or it gets stolen 😂 fucking shit. They're so bad.
@o2cool321 wah wah
It's wildly frustrating that seatbelts have been around for 139 years and still manufacturers (not just HMG) are struggling to utilize them correctly. Especially considering that the new Kona got a Good rating in this same test. Just weird the lack of consistency.
Volvo introduced the 3-point belt in 1959 and has never had an issue with Dummy Kinematics of the belt in any seat in their cars. It's not rocket science for other car makers to make it work, I agree!
@@joelbolton7252 Yes, they're just cutting corner
@@joelbolton7252의자를먼저만들고 벨트를끼워넣는식으로 만들어서그럼 의자각도랑 벨트위치가 잘어우러져야 배를압박하지않음
Their cheapest SUV the Kona, got a good, but their most expensive one got a marginal. Did they make the Konda safe by accident?
I think Kona is doing better than Santa Fe is because Kona is a shorter car compare to Santa Fe. Longer the car, the higher the tail of the car will "jump" up in the moderate overlap crash test. And if the car "jumps" higher, than it is harder to get a good rating because I think the back row dummy's seat belt system will take more stress. If the back row seat belt system is the same as other cars then it may cause more damage to the dummy due to the extra kinetic energy on the dummy from the higher car tail.
Look at the ioniq crash test, because Ioniq is an EV which has a heavy battery pack. The heavy battery pack stops the car to jump much higher so the seat belt system is not too tense for the dummy so it got a good rating. Check out Tesla Model Y it is the same deal.
Basically I think in the updated moderate overlap test, shorter and heavier the car, generally speaking, the better the rating it will get in the test.
That is just so sad for a new SUV
We all need Tesla Cybertruck crash test.
They are probably worried it will cannonball through the wall during SORB. Tesla only did full frontal and side impact at lower speeds and with a lighter sled.
It will be poor cuz inside you are the crumple zone
That's technically impossible.
@@Ficon didn't they test the Hummer that weighs like 4,000 lb more?
@@ralanham76 I was obviously joking. They really need to crash one to see if Tesla design choices are valid in instrumented testing.
First time seeing rear end lifted 2 ft in the air
Try watching the Smart Fortwo crash test
Isn’t crash test hyundai Santa Fe
The roof didn’t buckle though?
seriously... super brand new
Crazy how big the Santa Fe is now, the original 2001 weighed 34-3700lbs, the new weighs 42-4300lbs
It’s heavier, as the vehicles have acquired much more safety equipment and countless luxury items that weren’t available on the old model. As for bigger, it’s still a midsize.
This happens a lot. A new small/mid-size vehicle becomes popular, but feedback always includes some legroom, hip room, and shoulder room comments. Subsequent redesigns tack on an inch here and there.
In this case, they've added just 1.8" in length and 1.4" in height (same width). As I told my wife, who claims it looks massive (coming from the woman who drives a 2019 Odyssey), it's only 1" longer and 3" wider than my old 2013 Camry (and I joked with her that the extra inch in length appears to be a 1" lip on along the bottom of the rear bumper). It's the fact that it's a big, square back end (12" taller than the Camry) that makes it look massive compared to my old car.
When told her that her Ody is 13" longer and 3.7" wider, she didn't believe me until they were parked next to each other...
Looks like a Ford Flex... too boxy...
One of the reasons why i hate sunroofs.
I have never seen one break in a frontal crash test. This seems like a manufacturer's defect.
@@lukeheffernan why they leave this one open?
Still its one of the top picked cars of 2024. Not top picked plus but still. And I love the design! And to me the back of it is fine too, it grows on you.
It’s pure ugly to me. I own an older one. Still going strong.
Great. No one asked
Oh god…… the sunroof BROKE?! Nah nah PPOOOORRRR!!!!
Jin?
Новый дизайн санты как то не очень.
I think it looks ugly
2024 sonata crash test!!!
Why are cars getting worse?
They're not, the IIHS just never focused on rear seat passengers so automakers put less emphasis. Many modern cars lack pretensionors, load limiters and other devides on rear seating positions like they do in front but that will start to change.
Test a motorcycle next
so sad
Where is the safety???
Superman version???
Catastrophic for a brand new model.
What exactly is catastrophic? Doors are intact, even windshield is not broken. Unless you see something I don’t?
@@bartikyan M overall rating. Unacceptable but we all know Hyundai puts money into pretty screens rather than safety or mechanicals.
Truck got 2024 Top Safety Pick, I guess is not that bad
@@mrrokoso That’s a flaw in methodology. TSP should be G in all categories.
@@Ficonthat's BS
Hyundai came up with a new way to make the b pillar stronger in every vehicle back in 2013. They ended up sharing the technology to any other brand that wanted it.
In 2017 Hyundai was also the ONLY company that produced a company SUV that passed the small overlap crash test on the newly started passenger side. Every other compact SUV failed.
They also went 3 years in a row with more top safety picks than any other brand.
This is a completely new design. Next year's version will be better. It's pretty common for this to happen with a complete redesign.
진짜 디자인부터 대충 만들었네
Most of the time, Hyundai receives a failing grade if the IIHS test is modified even slightly. 😓
as do a lot of cars
They just had 5+ cars get good/acceptable ratings. Almost every brand is inconsistent right now.
I personally despise the design of the new Santa Fe. Don't know what Hyundai was thinking with this one.
volvo would never
Do better Hyundai
Shut up
The Ioniq 5 got rated good though.
@@t_q1799one vehicle out of how many?
And with kia basically helping produce almost every single model, you'd think they'd do better with two teams also. But they don't 😂.
