The day that Sir Elton John gifts you a grand piano and asks you to continue writing music, has got to be the day you realize just how far you've come as a Musician. ....Collective Souls music and Ed Rolands writing are among the best in the world imo.

Collective Soul and STP are my fave 90s groups among many from that era.

COLLECTIVE SOUL is hands down THE BEST BAND to come out that otherwise dark dreary depressing era known as "grunge" (in my humble opinion) ...they were the band that gave us a light at the end of that greasy unwashed self-loathing tunnel we know refer to as the 90's grunge era... grunge tied to kill rock 'n roll but thank god for COLLECTIVE SOUL, they breathed new life into our music &, cliche but true, our SOULS! ...so pull urself outta ur self loathing funk, go take a bath & wash off that "grunge", wash ur hair, look in the mirror & tell urself "im not a looser" & go throw out all that sad pathetic garbage that was referred to as "grunge" & crank up some feel good, intelligently poetic, & lyrically beautiful COLLECTIVE SOUL!
side note... my only complaint with that interview is it needed to be about an hour longer... thanx

Look I love Collective Soul. LOVE. Probably way more than all of the grunge scene. But you don’t need to knock the grunge era in its entirety. Soundgarden, Nirvana and Pearl Jam were some majorly talented bands with majorly talented people.

@@kuliimjulischreiben with all due respect mam, that is simply my opinion, & i will not apologize for stating my opinion. i personally think grunge was the worst thing to happen to the music industry... but thats "MY" opinion... & i respect that u have the right to have ur opinion & disagree with me, unlike what these modern day toucheyfeeley snowflakes would have u believe, a difference of opinion is a natural normal healthy thing... so thank u for sharing ur opinion with me, i appreciate it... hope u have a great day. thank u

@heavychevy4616 I love Collective Soul and many bands like them, but Grunge was incredible man, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, these bands made music that relate to and touched the souls of millions and continue to to this day my guy, Every bit as good as what came after like Collective Soul or Fuel, without Grunge these other equally fantastic bands wouldn't be a thing.

Elton John gave me a cigarette butt. Well he didn't really give it to me, he left in an ash tray in the hotel lobby I was working at. I still have it in a ziplock baggy with "Elton John Stardust Hotel 04/15/87" written in red sharpie on it.

Being from Georgia, I always expected him to talk with more of a southern accent.

He travels so much, learns a lot, I think he's well-cultured. Dean and Will have not traveled nearly as much as Ed and seen what he has. Although Dean does live in California now. Also some people just don't take to accents. I live in Michigan and my accent is very close to his, save for certain words.

Idk I’m from the NW, seen them a dozen times or more. He has a southern accent, just not a huge drawl.

Stockbridge is close enough to Atlanta that you wouldn’t have much of a southern accent. I grew up a bit closer to ATL and probably have less of one than him. You will come across people with an accent but those people likely grew up well outside of metro ATL.
