Where I live we are required to carry a .22 when trapping. I abide by our laws. Each state is a little different. In some cases, other methods are more humane. It depends on the animal.One can not fully understand trapping or trappers unless he or she has experienced it over time.

how do you recommend "disposing" of animals in the live traps? how much would a .22 mag hole in a pelt typically de-value a pelt? i know some of the common methods are strangling with wire/rope/cable, throwing the trap in deep water and letting them drown, or shooting them. obviously there i sent really a do-all answer (there's no way anyone i know would want to strangle a cougar!), but what's your preference?
