It's pleasing to see Chiang Mai full of life again after its long halt during COVID-19. The total number of visitors may not be as high as it was in 2019, and there might be a decrease in tourists from China. The last time I visited Chiang Mai was sometime between 2021-22 when most of the tourists were Thais. I benefited from the lower hotel room rates but in return, the town was so lifeless.

We loved the kind people, beautiful mountains, and great family-friendly culture in Chiang Mai. Maybe someday you can visit again, so you can experience it again.

It seems expensive for me or probably most locals. Paying 350 baht for the route within the old town is a bit too high. That's why I brought my foldable bike and cycled around town. Fortunately, I visited during the low season before the return of tourists, so there wasn't heavy traffic. I managed to steer clear of those red minivans and tuk-tuks, as I mentioned earlier. It's pricey for Thais too.

As a Thai, don't expect a Western kid to behave like a Thai kid. I don't see anything wrong; she's just a playful kiddo who got excited seeing a herd of pigeons for the first time. Avoid evaluating people from different cultures; differences in behaviour are natural.
