- Hypixel chat censors don’t make any sense. Some words that SHOULD be censored on Hypixel AREN’T, and some words that AREN’T censored on Hypixel SHOULD BE (at least for the sake of consistency). Hypixel chat rules are so arbitrary that players are forced to aimlessly guess what chats they can and can’t send, while spammers and advertisers roam free on the server. Minecraft is a game of limitless possibilities and I can’t even say ez or b0ob.

There is actually a useful way in java for detecting these filter evasions. Using a "normalized canonical composed comparison" in java you can compare two piece of text and check their representative meanings. It means that 𝕝𝕞𝕒𝕠 and lmao will be seen as the same piece of text.

I love how hypixel always censors curse words but then when u actually meet a 10 year old in a call they're cursing 24/7 so it really didn't help AT ALL to filter the chat
Censorship is the most pointless endeavor ever. Its not Hypixel's job to teach morality, values, and principles anyway. Someone who is raised properly will avoid and stay away from foul language as much as possible anyway. And those that are not raised properly will engage it and no chat filter or mute will change that.

@@basedcheese1 Bud, were you on Hypixel in like 2015-2016 as they became ever more popular and continued to grow? They grew and succeeded with a SUPER toxic chat filled with terrible things.. It never affected them negatively in any way... What it comes down to, is that society is far more sensitive now and cries over any little thing they dont like. Some 10 year old uses a racial slur and its the end of the world.. You act like these same kids playing Hypixel dont see 100x worse language and content on the internet on a daily basis. Again, its not Hypixel's job to parent and supervise a chat and kids.. If you dont like seeing certain words, chat filter exists, and parents with concerns should be parents and actually monitor their kids online activity and use parental filters.

@BasedCheese but u still can say these things.. there are work arounds for chat filters. Nothing is really hypixel can do. If someone is gonna say something mean, they will. This is why Hypixel said al.ost 100 people are muted or banned for chat infractions every hour..

6:46 minecraft bedrock has a txt file of all banned chat words (in the game files) and it literally has this, just "fuck" several times with different numbers of the letter u, spaces in every place, accents on each letter. its insane to think someone typed all of them out

Honestly, swearing is just swearing and if you don't want kids to hear it then don't swear in front of them. But slurs are a whole new level. If you have some sort of desperate need to say them, then say them with no intent to discriminate but otherwise avoid them. Very good point made in this video

Nazis are worse than communists, but still, drawing the line between them seems weird. If you wanted to say “but Hitler killed 11 million people in concentration camps” (6 million of which were jews), that wouldn't be allowed since the name itself is banned, which is the main problem, I'd say. Banning a name will of course stop the people who support the person with that name from voicing their support (easily), but mainly also stop people from then saying why such support is wrong.
I just think they want to generally avoid having such discussions on a server about fucking Minecraft minigames, but if that was the goal, they're not consistent.

You are describing a problem that is to my knowledge currently unsolvable and really interesting. Language filters are notoriously bad at filtering out certain words, phrases etc. It's a huge problem (especially in the case of spam ad bots) and even platforms like YT/Google have issues with it. AI is making strides with things like sentiment analysis and being able to use "eyes" in the form of image analysis as opposed to being locked to interpreting messages via bytes. SO hypixel certainly isn't going to have a good solution. Still funny video though, glad you're back!
The point of the "ez" cencorship its to force people into properly typing the word. Easy isnt censored
I especially despise that one time I wrote in skyblock guild chat, that a boss was ez and that I was happy about beating him, and it just wrote some crap. Like it's skyblock.
