I just got one of these to 1" tools ramp mill a 1.18"dia hole 3.75" deep in heat treated 4140. It worked much better than I thought it would. We were doing it with a high feed mill. This was able to save us a lot of time and extend tool life.
The limit for digging grooves with ramping is about 5 degrees, and the feed rate and speed depend on the work material, but any steel can be cut to some extent at 80 m/min and frev 0.06 mm/rev, except for difficult-to-cut materials.
