I remember as a kid going to the IMSA Camel GT every summer In the late 80s early 90s. Watching the GTP cars was absolutely amazing. It's unlike anything today. Davy Jones in the XJR-9 V12 Jag battling Geoff Brabham GTP ZX Turbo. Porsche 962....?? for get about it. Amazing!! It's hard to describe the feeling.
The sounds, the smells and the vibration in your body as they roar by. Something I'll never forget. It's almost annoying what the big prototype class has become. Hybrid diesel's? I've never seen any in person and I'm sure they're impressive but damn...Does it really need to be that way? I suppose so.
OhItsThat You need to remember that electric power+ diesel is more efficient. I love LMP1s, I'll love more sound, but sound means more energy wasted.
Hell yeah, watching Brabham and Chip Robinson battle it out, and add the great sounds of the Intreprids
Love the low revs of 767B, the Sauber sound but Mclaren BMW´s V12 surprise me as well!

It only won Le Mans because the Mercedes and Peugeots retired and the Jaguar had problems in the Race.
The 787B only Started 12th i think.

I mean, the 787 was the one to take note of. But yes, 100% 4 rotors and silver arrows over absolutely everything. Mostly 4 rotors. But the Mercs get the piston engine love
Kieren Standen sound wise, Toyota TS010 hands down.
Just need an Aston Martin AMR1 to complete the sound experience, but I guess the earthquake sound it makes would destroy all those fragile hay bails.
And probably Goodwood house as well.

man sometimes Its almost hard to believe group C came before gt1. The 787b and mercedes c9 look so much more advanced than the first gen mclaren f1 gt1 racecars.
Well, because it was...
Group C are almost illimited (from chassis to engine developing)
Then GT1 hits and change everything. Some manufactures tryed to do a legal hypercar just to homologate, others maded a legal prototype, but still, GT1 era is much more limited than group C in engine and chassis.
Its funny how the group C cars have much more cornering potential than a 10 year later GT1 car
But what sucks in Group C compared to GT1 is the slow gearbox/flywheel.
I wonder if Group C continued with the gearbox advance in the tecnology. Because from 80 to 00 are all years of gearbox mindblowing tecnology.

These are all amazing, but that F1 at the end is just god tier.
I've heard a few of these in person, and NOTHING gives you the jello legs and butterflies in your stomach like a 4 rotor. The second you hear the starter crank, then a flame rolls out the exhaust. Then its off to that lumps ass pport idle. it's game over for the emotions. I really don't think anything will ever come close to the sheer level of awesome these cars have.
Imagine if Mercedes have guts to put C111 with 4 rotor into production in 70s. What a shame.

Wow the festival is boring. Tip toe up the hill. Go and watch these cars on a proper circuit doing what they were built to do. (Le Mans Classic etc)
The Festival does create the chance to simply see lots of cars and it's a lot of fun to be around all these legendary cars for 3 full days. We love the Le Mans Classic as well and have been going there for the last 4 editions I believe and will be there this year as well! They're all just a lot of fun :) even though the cars drive faster at some events than others.

No, it isn't. It's a 1989 Mazda 767B - the front intakes are different, the iconic livery is not on the 767B (the front logo is Charge not Renown). Just like 242turbo said.

man shitty track for such cars they can't go pass beyond 2nd gear.
Spoken like a person who obviously has never watched on-board video from the time trials.
If they're racing in Time-Trial, goodwood is "meh" not THAT good, but overall is a shitty track hillclimb, short, almost no uphill, just 2 hard corners, max gear 3rd (maybe 4th in the first straight line) but you need to brake when you put 4th... Overall = Shitty track. Put that cars on a real hillclimb, you'll get scared in the onboard camera.
