For those that say this racist, I’ve never known a black person to feel this way but instead actually love this character because it pays tribute to the short and often forgotten late 70’s, early 80’s Parliament/ Funkadelic era in black music history and the Q Dog fraternity that are known to be somewhat boisterous. The portrayal is in a humorous but not disrespectful manner. The dude actually feels like a real character, not a gross stereotype though it may seem like it.

I LOVE the dialogue as he’s chasing after Jack. He wants to do better and he wants stuff to work on! He wants more lessons!! It’s so wholesome and fun to me, especially bc this character is already so damn likable from the start
And if you look at his dialogue in season 5, it shows that he wasn't simply buttering Jack up to become stronger, he truly saw the path of a true samurai in him, and that's what he wanted to learn.
this might sound funny, but imagine how he would react seeing jack being fought for by the thousands and Jack defeating Aku in the end. I think he would even join that war for Jack.

It's usually a trend to have characters like this be intimidating but have no actual fighting skill, so I actually like when the joke showboat character is legitimately also a good fighter
Something that occurred to me here. Never once does Jack call this man out in public as a fraud/a mockery to his upbringing. Most heroes on a show would confront their rival and say that they shouldn't pose as them. Or openly show amusement/disgust. But Jack couldn't care less. He's actually at an advantage having someone going around bragging like this that they are him. It draws the attention of Aku's minions away from him. That's why he doesn't say a word to him and barely wants to even get involved until this guy decides to force him to be. Jack is so smart and so patiently calm stoic in spite of being annoyed. That's wisdom.
Comes back for the final assault on Aku. Cleaves through some of his ghouls successfully only to show he's aged throwing his back out. Da Samurai: "AUGH! Gettin' too old for this shit!"

I'd actually love to see a spinoff where he gets a whole season long redemption arc. His original style is actually super good and I wouldn't even mind the trash talk if he got good enough to back it up. I like the design, I like the voice acting, and with a decent budget I could see this doing pretty well as a short series.
I never realized that Jack actually blocks with the strong of his blade (the part closer to your hand with the most leverage) like you're supposed to. A lot of shows don't understand swordplay that well.
We were taught with the katana in training to use the head for strikes, the middle for blocks and the bottom for maneuvering. Can't remember the terminology they used for them.
we were kids then. Kids arent that critical of media because they dont know better. We also didn't notice the sex jokes in these different cartoons either back then. When we were kids, we didnt question any of the weird sexual stuff in some of these nick shows, but we have the intelligence and experience to notice these things.

I do like that eventually he accepted that he was inferior and sought training from Jack. He was insecure and wanted to cover it up with a mask of a samurai he heard so much about, then, when he was eventually humbled, threw a fit and realised the error of his ways, he wanted to start learning.
Wish he has joined Jack's trip as a sidekick to have a comical foil to Jack that also grows into a true samurai and a strong ally as adventures go on....
Would have been cool to see this guy back in the final season. I'd like to imagine he spent decades turning his life around and he's now a badass old master samurai.

I love how the geisha girl is prepared for the eventuality of idiots drooling over her with robot guards that she can summon with the push of a button. Only a couple things I can’t totally figure out: A - Does she have those robot guards at her disposal or does that tavern provide them for a fee? Because if they are at her disposal, that would bring me to B - Is she a princess clad in traditional dress and makeup or is that actually what she looks like (the groundbreaking animation of this show makes telling the difference next to impossible sometimes)?
Robots are apparently a dime a dozen in this world with self awareness and thinking being normal. So having to push a button instead of their own accord kind of says they're the cheaper models.

Before Samurai Jack VS. Afro Samurai, there was this episode that was a prime example of someone who was only a samurai in name fighting against someone who actually trained as one. To clarify, I'm talking about Samurai Jack being the more authentically trained samurai, with Da Samurai being the samurai only in name.
Da Samurai is my most favourite side character from the show. I love that they brought him back in the final season but I do wish they used him a bit more in his prime. He has got moves and strength, that's obvious, so he is not a total fool. He would have made a great partner to Jack in an episode where Jack can't really fit in and he would need his "style" to achieve his goal.

I was using a regular pillow that was messed up and the inside of it was all balled up to one side, and my brother and cousin were using couch cushions. I kept using the "monk dunk" move while yelling "Monk Dunk!"on both of them, and at one point one of them hit the side of my leg with a couch cushion. That's how a pillow fight sent me to the hospital.
Something that always made me scratch my head, is that the dude is a "fake" with fake muscle and all, and he is actualy just a skinny fat belly dude, yet... He was able to beat 2 robot guard, with one of the 2 that he was able to lift bare hand and dunk it, and during the bamboo stick fight, he get dominated, but by Jack himself, who is the most skilled samurai the world ever known, but what if it was again some more... Normal in term of skill and strengh, plus dude did got some nice move, like using the stick to shoot himself in the air, so the main question to ask is, what is his actual level, since his "weak fake samurai" statut was gained from losing TO THE BEST

No they had strict laws placed on them, some nights and Samurai were basically considered folk heroes to their own community. A lot were not even wealthy or not high in status.like jizamurai. There is no one definitive real life Samurai (or knight)personality, just like everybody else differences would have occurred in personalities.

I actually like the fact that Da SaMoohRai never became an actual Samurai. Because realistically, think about it: The bad guys are increasingly relying on automation via the bug droids and the like, and those who can offer a bigger can of whoop-ass than a horde of droids are way above Samoohrai's pay grade, not to mention you'd have to eventually fight Jack. On the other hand, if he'd want to be a good guy he would probably not be earning too much money in a villain-centred economy of Aku's Earth and you'd eventually have to go up against Aku's droids or merks even more dangerous that them. As a guy that just wanted to score some "Honeyyyyyyz" i'd retire my goofy ass too. Imagine meeting a person that single-handedly eliminated poser merks as a factor through dividing an entire society on good guy rebels and bad guy professionals! My man literally meant a messiah in the middle of his journey!

His voice actors is really good. There’s so many small abnormal expressions and unique ways he pronounces words.

I actually like the fact that Da SaMoohRai never became an actual Samurai. Because realistically, think about it: The bad guys are increasingly relying on automation via the bug droids and the like, and those who can offer a bigger can of whoop-ass than a horde of droids are way above Samoohrai's pay grade, not to mention you'd have to eventually fight Jack. On the other hand, if he'd want to be a good guy he would probably not be earning too much money in a villain-centred economy of Aku's Earth and you'd eventually have to go up against Aku's droids or merks even more dangerous that them. As a guy that just wanted to score some "Honeyyyyyyz" i'd retire my goofy ass too.
Imagine meeting a person that single-handedly eliminated poser merks as a factor through dividing an entire society on good guy rebels and bad guy professionals! My man literally meant a messiah in the middle of his journey!
