I am so completely baffled by this, on the toy the crackle section is a completely different color from the official prop, and no one ever talks about it. I cannot find an answer to why or find anyone who ever actually mentions it. Even in this video when comparing the two it's not mentioned a single time that they're completely different and I feel like I'm going crazy
Especially weird since the crackle design is a waterslide decal on the original prop and the replicas, and Character Options presumably had access to the image used to make those waterslides...
That’s a really interesting observation, @SuperWeebBros, and you’re absolutely right the crackle section on the toy is a noticeably different colour. It does look darker compared to the original props and replicas. I’m not sure how I overlooked it before, but now that you’ve mentioned it, I can’t unsee it! Having both in hand now, it’s really obvious. I guess it could be down to Character Options getting the shade wrong or something to do with how they printed the sticker. Like @timcanty2145 said, they had access to the original props when making the toy, so it’s odd that they’d get it wrong. They really don’t have much of an excuse! 😉
This may be controversial but I think the more cream color on the toy looks a bit better than the official prop since the contrast of the warm body with the silver makes it sort of pop more but that's just me.
Hurts my soul I'll never afford this. Will just do with the CO ones for now! Once more Rubbertoe have hit it out the park, their replicas are breathtaking. Amazing review as always 😁
Thank you so much! I totally understand, it’s definitely a big investment! The Character ones are fantastic for what they are and really capture the spirit of the Sonic! Rubbertoe’s replicas truly are something special though, they’ve outdone themselves with this one. Thanks for watching! 😎
Absolutely! It’s a great touch to have Michael’s signature alongside Nick’s. Yeah I’ve seen some of his posts on Instagram and Facebook, he seems like such a lovely bloke. It’s fantastic to have the designer’s signature on there, really makes it special! I wish Nick could’ve done the same with some of the other Sonic Screwdrivers. Thanks for watching man🤘
I just got into the show a few months ago and I've gotten into screwdrivers too so I just wanted to say you're my favorite reviewer out there! I always get excited when you upload:) keep it up!
Wow, thank you so much! That really means a lot. Welcome to the world of Doctor Who and Sonic Screwdrivers, such a fun journey to dive into! So glad you enjoy the videos, and I’ll definitely be keeping them coming. Thanks for the support! 😀
A stunning review for an absolutely brilliant and beautiful piece of art!! Great details, as always! IMO, this is the absolute pinnacle of sonics! Can’t wait to get mine. Thanks again!🔥🔥👏👏 James
Great question! The wire you see is actually an LED rope that runs all the way to the emitter tip, giving the center light that smooth and even glow. If the center section part had been a bit more frosted, it might have concealed the rope better, but honestly it’s only noticeable when the Sonic is extended and not activated. In closed mode, you can’t really see it, and when it’s activated, the entire rope lights up beautifully so all you see is the light beaming out. I think they struck a great balance overall, it looks absolutely stunning when it’s all lit up! Thanks for watching 😁
It really is a stunning piece. Being in the 200s, it might take a little longer, but trust me it’ll absolutely be worth the wait! Thanks for watching 😎
Right?! The custom sound chip is such a game-changer, it’s on another level compared to the toy! That said, I do appreciate the toy for its little details, like the click when you press the button and the second click when you release it. The Rubbertoe version doesn’t have that, it only clicks when you press the button, and the sound cuts off as soon as you let go. It’s a small difference, but it’s something unique to the toy version! Thanks for watching 🤘
In the care instructions, it says they DO NOT recommend closing the sonic by pushing/sliding down on the activation button. You can slide it up to extend, but for closing, it’s best to gently push down on the emitter with your other hand to avoid any internal damage or bending parts. And flicking it open isn’t suggested either!
Nope, the 11th Doctor’s Sonic is still a bit bigger in both closed and open positions! The 14th is just a little shorter, but the difference isn’t huge. Thanks for watching 😎
Haha trust me, it’s all about careful saving and planning! As a collector, Sonic Screwdrivers are my priority, so I cut back on literally everything else to make it happen aha. It’s definitely an investment and a bit of an addiction but for me, it’s totally worth it! Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself aha! Thanks for watching man 🤘
This makes me slightly disappointed more with the CO toy, like why couldn’t they make the emitter and core blue and why couldn’t they extend the led or add another one
I get where you’re coming from! The Character Options toy is great for what it is, but seeing details like the emitter and core on this replica really shows what’s possible. Adding a blue wash to the acrylic sections or an extra LED would’ve been amazing. I remember a lot of people mentioning that it could’ve done with an extra LED in the emitter tip, and it didn’t help that they added some sort of filtered lens inside the emitter, which makes it appear orangey at the tip and a bit dim. Such a shame, as those small changes could’ve made a big difference! But to be fair, they did a pretty decent job overall. Thanks for watching! 😎
@vitorinojurado6169 is correct, but it’s not the toy sound chip. Originally, this replica was only designed with lights and no sound, just like the props. However the team at Rubbertoe Replicas later teamed up with Kazim from Little Shop Props to create a custom sound chip specifically for this Sonic. The chip was made to fit within the replica’s design constraints, which is really impressive! Even though the volume isn’t super loud, I’m just thrilled it has both lights and sound, especially since when I ordered it, it was only supposed to come with lights. It wasn’t until later that they worked with Kazim to make the sound chip a reality! 😎
Rubbertoe charges half up front for a preorder, then a second half when it's ready for delivery. The 600 is the half payment! Plus 20% VAT for UK buyers = a total of 1450. International buyers don't have the VAT at least, just the sometimes spicy exchange rate...
Fantastic Replica
and Custom Soundchip completely changes the feel of it, it feels more Premium and high quality

Really cool that Michael VK got to sign it too! He's been pretty active in discussions about props in the new era, see him pop up all the time.

Thanks so much, James! Couldn’t agree more, this Sonic really is a work of art! Hope yours arrives soon dude, it’ll be worth the wait! 😎
4:17 I am honest. The stand looks like lego plates on each other
...amazing review! I love this screwdriver!
Thank you so much! It really is an incredible Sonic, isn’t it? Glad you enjoyed the review! 😁
I noticed the tips is more rounded than the prop
could htey have concealed the wire in the center light a little better do you think?

It looks amazing!! Mine is in the 200s batch, so I’ll probably be waiting a while 🥲 it’ll be so worth it tho!

Mine is also in the 200s batch, please let me know when your arrives?!
omg finally a better soundchip than the toy version!
Right?! The custom sound chip is such a game-changer, it’s on another level compared to the toy! can you retract it with the sliders ?

I think the sonics that are created by Rubbertoe and LSP in collaboration, don’t get signed by Nick because of the joint creation
That’s a great point, I hadn’t thought about it like that! It does make sense, especially with the collaboration. You’re probably right there! 😉
Is it bigger than the 11th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver Replica?!
Nope, the 11th Doctor’s Sonic is still a bit bigger in both closed and open positions! The 14th is just a little shorter, but the difference isn’t huge. Thanks for watching 😎
@SameSonicDifferentCase the fact character made the toy the exact same dimensions as the prop just shows you how accurate the toy was.
I’d like to know where on earth you get the money for of these rubbertoe sonics
Haha trust me, it’s all about careful saving and planning! As a collector, Sonic Screwdrivers are my priority, so I cut back on literally everything else to make it happen aha. @@SameSonicDifferentCaseThat’s awesome, you have such an amazing collection😊
I'm still waiting on mine, I'm just above number 50 so hopefully soon 😭
Hang in there! Being just above 50 it shouldn’t be too long now, hopefully it’ll arrive soon! Trust me, it’s worth the wait man! 😁🔥

It is beautiful but icl, for that price surely it should be louder?
Since the actual prop has no sound, and this is a prop replica, it isn’t made to make sound it has no speaker holes. It carries the toy sound chip

Finally the king himself made the video
Alonz-y !!
Ahh thanks dude aha! I couldn’t wait to dive into this one, Allons-yyyy! 🔥
@SameSonicDifferentCase no problem just thought might be interesting to do a comparison between the online and retail with the rubber toe
How was it 1450 quid?!!! It said it was 600 on the website.
Rubbertoe charges half up front for a preorder, then a second half when it's ready for delivery. The 600 is the half payment!
Plus 20% VAT for UK buyers = a total of 1450. International buyers don't have the VAT at least, just the sometimes spicy exchange rate...
@@alastormedial the website is not very transparent.
@@James_LoNot sure what you mean, the website product description clearly says what the total amount is.
my broke American self will NOT be getting this
Totally understandable dude! This one’s a big investment, for sure. Thanks for watching 👍
