Thank you ! What made my brain click to do it , was the tips from a friend. Switch think of how your front knee is opening a door ; pushing outwards with the front knee makes you go heelside .
Then think of u crushing a tomatoe with ur front knee pushing downwards towards the toes ; which will make you turn toeside ; )- Mantra : Open Door crush tomatoe -Open door crush Tomatoe : )

where do you place the tomato and the door? I can't exactly imagine it.

@@thewindrises tomatoe is on yo front foot and the door leans on the outside of yo knee : so push knee outwards

Love these short Videos Xavier! Great reminder to do at least one lap switch in the park or in a flat area on a tour to keep it up.

Highly recommend everyone to go for switch, learned it last season after getting back in to snowboarding.
Been going at it for 20 years but never bothered switch riding before covid, however, switch riding is so damn fun and when you can switch back and forth during a run, it just feels like you are flowing.

Awesome stuff...How did you start... You sound similar to me in that I've been riding about 20 odd years and have tried doing small sections in switch but never wanted to devote time to doing it as I just want to enjoy my holiday... At 47 I also don't bounce as easily :-D Keen to hear about it?

@@scottmountifield1314 after 20 years of riding, when the kids switched to snowboarding after years of skiing, I stayed with them on the green slopes and worked on my switch while they learned snowboarding. It is actually very fun and allowed me to stay interested/engaged while hanging out with the kids.

@@scottmountifield1314 seems like my long reply disappeared, well I started off in the green and blue slopes since my partner was getting into skiing and I needed a challenge.
      1)
What I started with was going straight and do a J turn on the heel edge by focusing on opening up my front knee,I did this over and over, straight as far as i dared and then heel edge break by opening up my front knee, the marks in the snow becomes like a J.
      2) for the toe edge i heard that you should imagine having a bug in your shoe by the top of the chin, and then you focus on crushing that bug with your chin. Sounds stupid but it worked for me, i did the same J turns over and over 3) tired to connect the turns so I set a target in the start of the slope how far I wanted to get, then I increased it over and over after which I went back to regular to have some fun but in the end I started switching naturally in the slope. After a while I could do the whole slope switch and that's when the fun really begins.
I put on duckstance btw but it really shouldn't matter much, these days I love it so much I run switch on my super directional k2 coolbean so i mean it's so much fun, it's awkward but one you get into it you won't regret it. It's great for your body as well since you don't station your body as much in the same position so you will be able to snowboard longer.
Honestly I'm a much better snowboarder now than before and it's loads of fun.

Whenever I ride with others that are obviously less skilled than I am, I commit to riding switch all day with them just to up my game.

Great to see you still suggest riding switch with a low angle in your normal back foot... On occasion I've tried altering my back stance (so I have more of a duck stance) but just feels SO wrong... I normally ride 15 and 9, so will just continue with that... Thx, great vid

I feel very confident riding switch on the slope. However, riding switch in deep snow with a directional board seems impossible.. especially if it‘s mellow. Any tips?

I am quite bad at giving tips on this topic because I learned along the way, but I really think that it is just a matter of practicing once again, and forcing to move your whole body in switch mode and not just your eyes ( hips, weight shift, arms etc) - hope that helps, now we just need the deep snow to arrive!

Great time to learn/practice a switch stand is when you ride with friends who are much slower or learning ski / board. That way you can take your level down many notches and you will be shocked how much better you will get riding switch all day... Watch out for that edge lol
