To label your bucket I would tape a clear page protector around the outside so that you can slip the labels in and out in case whatever you want to put in your buckets changes over time. It also will keep the paper label from getting torn and dirty
also, keep the open end to the side. no dust etc falling in
My only suggestion to this wonderful idea is to turn the page cover so the opening turned towards one side or the other & not turned upwards.
That will help prevent flour/sugar/etc from falling into the page cover.
It's a pain to clean them out.
@@RDLASLB 😄 great minds....
Great idea
@Brianna R The clear page protector taped to the outside of the 5 gal buckets is a brilliant idea💡Easy to change labels when needed if you use a different supplier, etc.
👏😊👏
I am 72 yrs old and since my 12 yr old great grandson taught me how to watch u tube on my T V l have watched your videos and love them all. My 6 yr old great granddaughter sees your face and shouts MawMaw there’s Becky. We both love to watch you. Bless you. Josh is a lucky fellow. Lennyn and l love you!
Becky you should hang a clip board with a have list and a need list. This would make ordering easier. You could also label the shelf’s front & back, so you know what is in the buckets. You could use your older shelves for extra household items. This system is going to be a game changer. You will be able to see what you have. Awesome. It is such a beautiful spot for having lunch with Josh. Good luck with everything you are going to be doing this weekend. Take care Until next time.
That is a great idea! Even an excel spreadsheet to know your inventory would be ideal.
I was thinking the same thing
And yes, using the prior shelves for household items is an excellent idea.
I definitely would not be getting rid of the old shelves for at least some time to come.
I love this. Having a station for needs/wants/grow notes/preserving notes
I have these shelves and I love them. One recommendation I have for you is to put shelf liner on them. If you have a jar that breaks, the mess is hard to clean because it will soak into the wood product the shelf is made of.
Are yours sagging from the weight? Mine are from my can goods.
I like the no bugs malady for easy clean.
@@Ristina81 I had heard that they might do that. Old Alabama Gardener advised using a thicker 3/4 inch plywood board to replace the thin press board shelf . I got a great deal on boards already cut to the right size at Menards.😊
I have metal shelving units similar to those except the shelves aren't the same as these, they're metal wired shelves. Had them for years and still holding strong. Got them at Home Depot. Plan to get more if I end up buying a home and some land.
@@Ristina81 mine are not sagging- I’ve had them for more than ten years. The only damage is the shelf that I had the jar break on. It’s just stained from the food product. It’s covered with shelf paper- the kind that is a little thicker with the grip on the bottom. I bought it at Walmart.
Lacey is an awesome sister-in-law, she works so hard. You really owe her a solid. I am loving these videos.
She's amazing. She's like a pro putting the shelves together so smoothly
@@deepayne1930 I agree. That was beyond cringey.
@@deepayne1930 not everyone wants or expects something because they helped someone..... & not only that but you are seeing a small clip of someone elses life. Don't know what is or isn't done off camera.
@@deepayne1930 I don’t think it was, I bet she asked Lacey what she wanted as a thanks and that’s what she asked for! I help clean my sisters house allll the time and sometimes she pays me sometimes she doesn’t but I love doing it because my love language is acts of service
I had happy tears 🥹 seeing Lacey help you out even though she just had a new baby. Ur lucky girl ✨ loving those big shelves and the setup.
I cannot think of anything better than coming down your stairs to the basement and seeing all that food. It is like seeing shelves of jewels. The colors are gorgeous and all your hard work is on display. Great job honey!
Sister-in-law is such a blessing. Lacey does well in front of camera. Love to see and hear your joy.
Your old shelves would make a great seed starting station. The wire mesh is great for damp and ventilation. Love your new set up!
Looks great! Quick suggestion, use bungee cords across the shelves so if you push your jars they don't fall off the shelf.
The way I did my shelves was I turned the shelves so the narrow side was facing the wall. I made "grocery rows" in my storage. I can access both sides of the shelves. Great job! Such a big project!
I like this idea
Me too! I put the new stuff in the back and pulled the old stuff out the front.
I love that idea!!!
Sounds like a good idea....like a mini store....and how a library is set up. And uses less wall space
😊
You are so blessed to have such a wonder sister-in-law; Lacey is totally awesome!! Actually, your entire family has been just incredible! Thank you for letting us be a part of it all!
Sister in law Lacey is AWESOME. In the background doing her thing.
Hi Becky, I really enjoy your videos. The question I have is why do you can and preserve so much food when there are only two of you. We can and preserve food as well, but nowhere near what you do and there are 7 of us.
If I was your sister in law with a baby, I would have loved enough canned goods to have a complete dinner from jars for my dinner. 2 bags of homemade noodles was nice of you. She was rocking it. You are so blessed to have such an awesome sister in law.
Looks great Becky! Before you get too far along with setting up your pantry, a few suggestions. Those particle board shelves tend to sag under the weight of heavy jars & cans and humidity can speed this process along. You might want to consider running a dehumidifier in your basement to help prevent this. Also, once you’re finished with all of your other remodeling projects, you might want to consider replacing the particle board shelves with dimensional lumber cut to fit like 2”x8” boards or whatever measurements work to fit the depth of your shelving to provide a much more stable surface. Did you know that if you flip the black braces that hold the shelving upside down, this will sink the shelf surface giving you a lip on each shelf that will prevent your beautiful home canned items from getting knocked off the shelves? Keep up the good work! Can’t wait to see the full pantry tour😀
YES! We had three shelves total completely fail :(
Sealing the particle board with some paint would also help
I have the 18" version of these shelves, I have doubled some of the shelves, and have protected with moisture by putting 2 18" peel and stick tiles on top. Could easily use the 24" if you can find them, or 6 12".
We've had several of these shelves collapse as well, storing things not as heavy as my canned goods.
Becky, all of this! At the very least, put a reminder in your phone to take the time to flip the particle board every 3 months to try to even out the wear. I just replaced these exact style of shelves in my work storage with the same ones but with the lexan-like shelves and they seem much sturdier and like they won't have the same wear just from the humidity and holding heavy things.
Also, try to make sure they are always evenly loaded. Never leave one for long with something only in the center, or only at one end or the other. Evenly distribute the weight at all times!
You are lucky to have such a hardworking sister-in-law
You can trim the boxes down to match the canning jar boxes. I reuse the box flaps for separators
You can add wood shelves on top of the metal ones. Home Depot will even cut the wood for you.
You can use a series of 3 bungee cords on the back side of each shelf. Three on each shelf will give a nice tall “wall”. You can attach them in the unused holes on the metal shelf supports. This will create a really nice wall that can easily be pulled down to stock additional jars from behind.
Also a great idea for those of us living in earthquake country.
I was actually thinking the same, especially when she was putting the pasta on the shelves. Something along the back of the shelves would be helpful in case "someone" gets enthusiastic about pushing jars around.
When we moved into our forever home, I put cord across the front of each pantry shelf in my kitchen, even though I thought it'd be a pain in the neck with the putting ins and taking outs. Got used to it really fast! Never lost a thing, in 32 years in California.
@@chrij1987 - N. Californian here who is having severe anxiety looking at unsecured shelves full of glass jars. (And I don't really live in earthquake country now, just very adjacent.)
Your sister-in-law is AWESOME! And a shelf assembly Ninja!!! It's gonna be awesome having everything in one place, that's my goal at some point.
Sister in law is killin it !
Hi Becky, So excited to see you moving into your new home. I am looking forward to following you on your journey. The shelving you set up the basement is fantastic. What a blessing to have a basement! Here in central Texas, we don’t have them…but boy could I use one. It’s 100F here today!! All your home can goods look lovely. Thank you for all you share in your videos. Love, Mary 🤗
Aw thanks Mary! I have learned so very much form your channel over the years! Thanks for putting out amazing content
K
What a sweet Sister-in-law you have. You got a double blessing with your families.
ALTERNATIVELY, you can place the narrow side of the shelves against the wall, and leave 26" between the shelves. That way, you would have the wall helping stabilize the shelf units.
P.S. I am a fairly new sub, and I am hooked on your channel. You are pretty amazing. :-)
God bless you and Nosh, and your new home.
I was going to suggest that too. Plus it won't be so dark in the back!
I was thinking the same thing, it would have given much more space in the garage.
Love this idea! Fantastic and totally agree.
That’s a great idea. Also, since she’s in earthquake country, she could fasten them to the wall and put some kind of rail on the front and back to keep jars from falling off.
Good idea! Like a library
You can cut wood to fit those wire shelves. Don’t get rid of them even if you don’t use them for can goods. They are always so helpful
lol, you should get a little grocery basket for the basement so that you can shop your pantry. I think that would be super cute and also helpful for bringing things upstairs.
Lacy is a BEAST!! I want her in my corner on moving day! Awesome sister-in-law! She definitely needs to be replicated, you owe her a babysitter night !!
Maybe 2 at least haha 😉🥰
i am LIVING for these dream home uploads!! im so glad you're taking us on this journey with you
You should make a sun map so you can figure out where to put your garden. That’s how I did mine, it worked out great
I think if you turn the shelves on the other end so they’re short end against the wall you’ll be able to go around them still and use one isle (the spacing between them) to go in between them. That way you can also secure them to the wall. Then if necessary, you’ll be able to fit more of them.
What a sweet heart your sister in law is!!!! Bravo to her dedication and help. What a gal.
My daughters (8 & 5) and I get excited to see your new videos. My younger daughter asked me yesterday "Can we go to Becky's house"? Lol
Everyone needs a Lacey. She made it look easy 🤗
I live with someone who does IT and he built me a digital system that has all the recipes, a supply list that things can be added or subtracted as we use them. It also states where the items are located (such as basement, kitchen etc) If we run low on something it automatically adds it to the shopping list. It has been a lifesaver.
Wow! Nice.
Wow thats neat! You should make it sellable and get it out there! I'm sure lots of ppl could use that! I would!
Wow he should sell that!
I have AnyList it’s amazing
That view at the new house is
UNBELIEVABLE!
Becky, I certainly feel for you today. I moved to my current home in January 2021 from a home about 350 miles away. Moving the pantry with my home canned food was quite a challenge. Most things were on the moving truck, but I couldn't trust my canning most of my gardening supplies to the commercial movers, and of course, they couldn't move my chickens, so I rented a 15 ft U-haul truck and towed my car. Making that 5 1/2 hour drive with two miniature poodles and 5 chickens was interesting, to say the least!
How did you keep the jarred food safe with your drive? We’re moving 14 hours South and I have almost 1,000 canned food jars to travel with and it’s making me so anxious! We need to bring our chickens with too! (And dogs and cats)
Lacey is a rock star! That woman knows how to work. Lacey made putting those shelves together look easy-peasy. Congrats on your new baby Lacey!
Oh, Becky, do paint your shelves or put contact paper on them. It will save so much clean up time in the future. Speaking from experience. Love your house. So blessed.
Goodness gracious!
I've learned from a seasoned canner that if you have concerns about your jar threads bumping into anything, putting the rings back on very, very loosely can help prevent the jar threads from getting chipped. I take all the rings off and then put clean rings back on things I'm giving away so people will have a way to reseal the jar after opening.
Woman! You hit the jackpot! Kudos to Lacey for all her work! What a good friend. You all are working so hard! Thanks for sharing! Did you ever imagine you’d be so much entertainment for so many people?🤣😂
Turn the shelves horizontal with enough space between that way you can
get to the shelves from both sides.
Becky, a word of warning on those shelves. My sister got those for her canned goods, and the shelves ended up sagging in the middle. My dad made her a steel grid to put underneath to support the weight on the shelves, but once they’ve sagged, it’s hard to get them straight again (if not impossible). You might look at doing something to give them extra support while they’re still new. Good luck!
I would paint the wall behind and secure the shelves to the wall.
I've seen another person have a sagging issue with these shelves. She loved them, but they did sag over time. She bought a piece of plywood that fit into the space on TOP of the shelves. That way she didn't have to remove the sagging part, she just used stronger wood on top. That might be another option.
When I started canning I'd can with my Father in Law. He's great at it. And at the time I had alot to learn. I'm sure this isn't for everyone but when I'd use a jar, wash, clean & dry it he always told me the lid I used for it( washed & dried also) to put the lid on upside down & of course screw the lid on and store them that way so they'd stay clean inside. We'd still wash them of course before using again but I swear by this. It just keeps the jars as clean as possible until we washed them & canned again. Just a Suggestion. 💜💜
I am so happy for you. Watching all the goodies put on the shelves is so fun to watch. I am sure it brings you joy. As for your noodles, those are hard work that if a rodent gets in you may want to cry. My advice would be finding another way to store them. I live in the country and mice happen....wink wink. Happy Fourth!
She can store them in an empty 5 gallon bucket to protect them.
If you put the packs of noodles into a low square container or bucket and lid... No more rodent worries
In town as well!
If you don’t have a storage plan for your old shelves, they would make really good seed starting shelves! The grates make it easier to hook lights and fans and also allow water through :)
A suggestion for your current wire shelves. You can buy a plastic liner for the shelves so items don’t sit wonky on the shelves. I use these liners in my pantry that has wire shelves.
Do you know the name of the plastic liner or where to get it?
@@theheartoftexas I bought mine at Amazon. For my smaller shelves I bought it in rolls that I could cut to fit. For the bigger heavy duty shelves you buy them as a sheet. Lookup wire shelf liners and a bunch of items pop up.
Lots of work! I have a suggestion, maybe put down some of those workout foam mats that fit together like puzzle pieces around the shelves that way if a jar falls it will be less likely to break.
I love your videos. I am jealous of the huge basement for storage.
I would strongly suggest you put a dehumidifier in the basement to make sure there isn’t any moisture down there. I have had the same storage shelves and if they get damp they can sag and break.
It would a tragedy to lose all your food and hard work.
Cake pans and roasters will work excellent for moving your canning jars!
I just want to let you know you are amazing! You are such an inspiration. I get excited when I see a new video. Thank you for sharing prepping, gardening, hew journeys and all. God bless you and your beautiful family
00
Totally agree with Yesenia, I always get excited when a new video pops up and I get to watch what you’ve all been up to, loving everything you do!
You’ve given me so many great ideas that are getting me organised and benefitting my family.
I only wished here in the UK we had the land, space and basement you have there, as I only get to do this on small scale :(
never apologize for having a mess especially if the average person can see your busy or in the middle of a move.
My goodness Becky, that lunchtime view would have me taking hours to eat! I'm so happy for you and Josh, it just looks like heaven! Much love from Western Australia
Becky, last night i made some pre-made breakfast sandwiches per your recommendation. As a spoonie(hidden disabilities/chronic illness) have non-ramen/can soup meals is not always feasible for me. Making freezer meals when i am able to cook and then freezing them for when I'm not made this past month so much more enjoyable with regards to food. Now i need a pressure canner so i can make some of them into non-frozen, immediately ready meals.
So cool to see the process unfold...2 thoughts...painting that wall with primer in the short term will help you see your jars more clearly as it reflects light. 2) if there is any way to add a dumbwaiter to help move jars/cans between floors it will be a huge benefit for aging in place, hedging against injuries or pregnancy that make stairs or carryimg heavy things, etc., or just to help move large volumes faster.
You can hang a clipboard on the end of a shelf to write what you want to order. I have printed a screenshot of an item to put on the container when I didn’t have the bag.
Lacey is an MVP!! Happy for you and your sister in law, having a sharing and caring relationship.
You might be able to contact the company that makes the shelves and order the metal prices that the plywood goes on so you can make another shelf. Maybe even find some one that does metal work if that doesn’t work. You gotta admit the storage in the kitchen of your old home was AWESOME 😁 I’m renovating my kitchen and I think I’m going to do a wall like you have for pantry storage.
Love you Becky, Have a great 4th of July! ❤
Why not utilize the space by putting the buckets on the floor? That would make more sense, I'd think. . Maybe stack them up in that little cubby space. They could have their own space, but giving you MORE space for jarred up foods? Just a thought. . :) LOVE the fact you have so much space to work with!!
I love your new storage area! A tip that I use for moving like six jars at a time is to use wine bags. The stores usually give them away for free when you buy have a case of wine and they have clothe dividers so the jars don’t clank together. I can move 12 quart or pint jars in one bag safety
Or even cardboard wine bottle holders like from Hyvee.
I keep all my empty canning jars in the canning jar boxes. Not only does it keep them safe and organized, but also cleaner too so just a sterilization is needed before using. I stack these boxes on a shelf right next to my canned goods. Also, I keep a box or 2 of lids and rings right there and my canners on top of the shelf. I love this because it keeps it all together. You're pantry's looking good and I'm sure you're having such a good time getting it all organized in a great place!
The muscle racks are great but don’t over load them because they will bow in the middle. I purchased two of them and the wood insert is not supported enough. I am thinking of having my brother make a extra support for the shelves.
I am having the same problem and am thinking of replacing the wood with better quality and then painting them
@@diannebeal8730 that might be a good option. I probably should have purchased a extra set to steal the shelves for mine also. Other that I really love the shelves I got the 24 inch by 48 inch ones
Your SIL is a rock star! She works so hard and really gets the job done! You definitely owe her a girls day at the spa!
Instead of putting the shelves 26” off the wall, you could have turned them perpendicular to the wall and had a rural isles., making it easier to access both sides or the isle. And I’m surprised you didn’t leave the jars in their boxes.
!
I’m so addicted to your videos. ❤️
To label, you can also use any kind of box tape paper tape etc, write on it and it peels off when your done
Basements are wonderful! I love the shelves, just a thought. Have you thought about adding a strip of wood or some kid of snow fence type thing across each self front and back to keep jars from falling off in case of an earthquake? I'm from earthquake country, always a consideration.
Enjoy your dream home!!
I love that you got to organize your canned food. One thought: that basement might be dustier and more humid than the room in your old house. Like Mary said, you might add some dehumidifiers to prevent jar lids from rusting and you may want to wipe down jars with a damp cloth before opening to keep food edible!
I have those shelves. Love them. Shelf paper/contact paper them to prevent from things leaking on them. Very sturdy.
You may want to keep the wire shelves for you summer squash etc. for good air flow.
OMG. Those shelves are amazing!! And I love your system of putting them away from the wall for stocking! I'm loving watching you do all the things to get your place move-in ready. xoxo
Suggestion: keep a pack of sharpies near the basement pantry (or tie to a string and wrap string around the shelf post) Looking good. I love to organize stuff.
Rubbing alcohol takes sharpie off hard surfaces, right? Retired now, but when I was teaching I learned that hand sanitizer - a thick brand - will stick around on a vertical whiteboard long enough to let the alcohol in it do its work while I did something else. Very handy stuff! 🌞
@@eer4465 on white boards, you can also write over sharpie with a dry erase marker to remove the sharpie.
Wow, Becky, that is a real pantry. You are my role model girl! And I am an old gal, almost 66. I am learning so much binge-watching your videos. What a blessing that you have both of your families close by. If I can leave some advice to young families I would say, don't move far from your family. Our families are out-of-state and we miss out on so much. Becky please put on description box the kind of shelves you bought.
you can use the shelf wood under the basket with flour to build the last shelf because you don't need nothing under the bucket
Some lighting in the rear would be good as it looks pretty dark and it certainly will be when all the shelves stocked. Also, get yourself a metal cart which will really help you bring things indoors from truck or even if just bringing things from upstairs to the storage. Just a thought. I have a heavy duty, trim, foldable hand truck that holds 350 lbs. Can't remember where I bought it but it has been great. You wouldn't believe what you tote around with it.
LOVE that you have space to put the shelves away from the wall so you can walk around to stock them! That will be so convenient!!
Praise yo all your hard work Becky,! Between two houses, gardens, family life you still post for us. We love watching 💕
Should have sealed the wood shelves. I did and have been so glad I did, If there are spills, they are easy to clean!
Becky, I just wanted you to know you are one of my "relaxing" things I look forward to! I check every day for a new video (I know you can't do one every day but I still check). You, Amy Maryon, and Kim from The Wads are my 3 favorite UA-cam friends!! If I have a long stressful day, watching you really helps ground me, like a good friend. Thank you for all your hard work putting out videos. You are loved!
I know just what you mean watching Becky’s videos has a calming effect on me also. Just want you to know Becky I wish you & Josh all the luck in the world with your new home You definitely worked hard for it and you truly deserve it!
Same! I put on her videos when I need to unwind before bed.
I’m so happy for you Becky. I have a suggestion. If you move each shelf, so that the short side is against the wall, you will have an easier time accessing the back with no wasted space. This way when you come down the stairs you won’t immediately have to stare at all your food! They’ll also be more room to add more shelves to that wall.
So happy for you that you've got a wonderful, super useful new basement space! Have you considered seismic restraints for your shelves? I've seen other folks here in the PNW also mount a little rail along the front of shelves for the same reason. Great work, the new pantry looks fantastic!
Your sis n law is amazing. She looks like a hard worker and so sweet of her to help you on her Saturday off. Y’all are a great team💖💖💖
I second bringing stuff along whenever you can to the new house! We moved about an hour away last year (long story short we moved out of our house two months before we could move into the new one), and we got a storage unit a few blocks away from my husband's new job. So I would spend my day packing boxes, and I would stack them in the garage. Then a few times a week my husband would load up the car, and stop by the storage unit on his way to work. We ended up not having to rent a U-Haul or anything when it came to the final move out day, which was amazing. It was a pain, but we were so glad we did it the way!
Two suggestions:
Have the top of each shelf laminated (countertop material glued to boards, trimmed at sides). Can be a DIY, but might be an inexpensive job for someone?
Second, I believe you do not reuse the top of your canning jars. If so, great place for label, date. Get circle sticker paper and print your information on the computer. Fast, easy and inexpensive. Or just write while they’re cooling! Great job!
I love your videos! Just a suggestion when storing empty canning jars: Make sure they are completely dry, then invert the used (cleaned) canning lid and ring to keep the jars clean so they are ready to go next time you use them for canning. I invert the lid so the rubber ring on the lid doesn't get heated or pressure sealed to the jar potentially leaving rubber compound on jar rim. Helps keep out dust and possibly spiders who venture in and end up dying in the jar. This process also protects the jar rim from potentially getting chipped too.
I would suggest getting bigger clear plastic lidded boxes that you can put on top of each other. Then put the empty jars in those for storage. You won't need a lot of shelves for empties and it is easier to get the empties upstairs for canning..
That was fun and Lacy is a rock star! Now here I go, down to my basement to organize my very disorganized pantry. Thanks girl! ❤️
I just came to say that I really appreciate you sharing how you take time to decompress. I know that a lot of people do that but the last few videos you have shared with us that you are taking breaks when you need a mental or physical rest. Its validation that I know that a lot of people need right now.
Great teamwork! The basement pantry is awesome! And you will make such good use of that space and once you get moved into your new home and start using your kitchen and your pantry together you will be more efficient than ever! Also there will come new recipes from your new pantry area and you’ll be sharing more of your cooking techniques and talents with everyone and we are looking forward to it, plus seeing your new garden space and how your new home is going to progress into a place whereHospitality is shown to people that walk through your doors and wonderful wonderful memories will be made. Congratulations on this purchase of this home and your ideas are coming to life and your dream come true
Using the holes on the legs to run a bungie cord as a lip to hold thing on the shelf for things like earthquakes. the holes are great for securing the shelves to the wall so no tipping. Sealing the shelves with a varnish or varathane will make them easier to clean and reduce staining and prevent the shelves from turning to mush when spillage occurs
Steel cut oats are my favorite breakfast! I make apple-cinnamon. I found that cooking the apples in with the oats make it sweet enough that I don't need to add any extra sugar.
Stocking from front and back is fantastic since you have the room.
What a blessing Lacey has been for you!!!
Instead of lining the shelves up parallel to the wall you could try perpendicular. You'd still get access front and back but you'd save space and you would be able to secure them to the wall because.... earthquakes and safety....
So excited that you uploaded again, I absolutely love the consistency! Your videos bring joy to mine and my partner’s day! We are actually doing home renovations as well and you are inspiring us to do more to ours! Here’s to beautiful blessings for you, your family, and your new home!
I think it's brilliant to have access to the rear of the shelves. You won't have to dig for the ones in the back. You could even have jars facing the back like a dual sided shelf and "shop" either side. Wonderful. And your sister in law is a blessing. :)
Becky, I love seeing how productive you are! Very inspiring!
You should reach out to your local university extension office to take any canning jar boxes off of their hands. When I went through our Master Food Preserver course, we went through cases of canning jars each week during labs and ended up having all the empty boxes to recycle due to each of us taking home the few jars that we canned that day.
Man when you said it was 90 and you had on that long sleeve shirt i thought I would be dying!!! Love your basement and all the organization. Way to go girls! Thank God for Lacey.
That's a lot of work for 1 day! We moved 2000 miles last fall & I had 58 5 gallon buckets & over 100 heavy duty boxes of things with sooo much bubble wrap! lol Luckly, nothing broke but we did end up needing to use 2 uhaul trucks (luckily, we moved before the gas prices went crazy!). I had those shelves & I'd recommend welding or affixing some sort of center support because they will bow over time without it. When will you be in the new house?
I just found your channel a couple of days ago and I am hooked. I am a Granny at 64 and you are an inspiration!
It looks amazing!! I would never have thought about putting that space behind so you can keep the older ones in the front. Genius!
I have those shelves. Love them! They hold so much! I have mine in my basement too. I put sections of carpet…the ones Walmart use to sell for $25….in front of the shelves. Helps for winter when it’s cold. I have one shelf for cleaning and laundry storage. So easy. I put 1/4 inch Luann…I think that’s what it was…behind so nothing falls off. Just cut it to fit the hole. Works great. I put seasoning over flow and packages…like noodles, stuffing mixes, cake mixes, etc…..in see thru plastic bins and put those on a shelf. Keeps rodents out. I like in the middle of no where and field mice in your house is a nuisance…..keeps them from coming in. Good luck!
