I hope there is an episode of moving the chickens, I’ve been really wondering how you’ll do it exactly. I guess it’s nice you didn’t need to do it in a rush.

    • @EmmaAppleBerry

Probably a dog or cat carrier.
At worst you could just pop an empty tub in the back and a blanket over top so they cant fly out. And strap the tub in with seatbelts. Chickens are pretty hardy so even if stressed out during the car ride theyll be fine.

I'd secure a piece of plywood to the top of the truck bed and put them in and take them out through the tailgate. Too many for a pet carrier, it could take multiple trips if they do that.

When we buy our chickens, they get put in small cardboard boxes. They lay down quietly in the dark. We are going to move them a longer distance and then we are gonna use our dog crate with a blanket over.

Thank you for showing us some of Portland! My husband and I lived there from 1979-1987. Our two boys were born there. We both worked in healthcare for Kaiser. We had our first home built in the Parkrose area. We moved back to Northern NY to raise our boys near family. We have visited a few times over the years and we still have life long friends there. It will forever be in my heart. We now live in Missouri! I hope you love your new home!

Hey, Becky congrats on the move!! I know you were worried about the pressure gauge on your canners during the move. Since you are supposed to get the gauge checked annually to see that they are calibrated correctly, your local extension office should offer free testing. This way, you are double sure the move hasn't affected your pressure canner gauges, and you have done the testing for the year.

I have a question that I hope someone can help me with regarding the pressure gauge. I have the gauge and the weight (jiggler). Since the weight won't jiggle if it's not up to the proper pounds do I still need to get gauge calibrated?

Don't forget your support system when you inbox, or unpack things too. It can be as simple as someone to just open up boxes then flatten and stack boxes after you've emptied them. Depending upon the person(s) and furniture it can be someone to go from room to room simply re-assmbling furniture from putting in nuts and bolts to simply putting shelves back into units or removing and stacking any protective coverings; for you, this may have already been done by the movers. Opening boxes, removing and stacking contents in the appropriate room, then flattening and stacking the boxes can be a great help. This also quickly points out boxes that ended up in the wrong room; with or without direction, get your helpers to out boxes in the correct room. And, it points out boxes with a mixed or assortment of items belonging to multiple rooms. Depending, your helpers may even stack and nest things then out them on shelves or in cupboards, out of boxes, off a stack, and/ ormoff the floor. - This may seem inconsequential but it can be a BIG help whether it be a half hour favor and chat time or a multi-hour let's get it all (haha) unpacked effort.

First thanks for showing downtown Portland. I lived there for 6 years and it was nice to see it again. Really makes me want to take a trip. Second get yourself a big whiteboard and put it at either the top of the steps or on a wall by your grocery store. Write down what ever you are out of or running low on when you see it or use it up. That will make it 10x easier when you go to purchase food. You won't have to do a complete inventory of everything because you have already created the list.

I would also suggest getting a vacuum sealer that way food is not getting freezer burn, honestly I am surprised that you don't already have one.

If he loves vacuums he should try out a Rainbow! Super expensive but sooooooo worth it! They can do soooo much and the cleaning power is seriously unmatched. The day I got my rainbow I didn’t realize that I was getting it that day so I had already vacuumed with my dyson like an hour before. I got the rainbow set it up and of course had to revacuum since it was a new toy! Holy hell I wanted to vomit! I could NOT believe what it sucked up that the dyson didn’t!!!!!!!!! I legit got so much anxiety about how NOT clean my house was! Sooo I went bananas redoing everything obviously and from that day on I said I would never not own a Rainbow. I bought mine secondhand but I want a brand new one so bad now lol. Anyways you should definitely check them out. And no I don’t sell them or have any connections with them other than I’m a huge fan and believer in them! I actually went into buying the one I did like yeah no way this blows my mind. Haha was I wrong. I should’ve just believed all those people that kept telling me how much better they were. So now here I am trying to save up for a brand new one that can seriously do soooo much more than just vacuuming!

Now you've moved what is going to happen to all the vegetables at the original house? Do you still own it so can pop back and harvest? If not, new owners will be very very lucky. X

Would have loved to see the move in longer form videos girlfriend. No pressure though. Anxiety is spiking as the videos are getting shorter and shorter😭😭😭. I'm dramatic 😂.

It was probably less stressful for your dogs as well not being in the midst of the chaos of moving :)

Becky, no apologies for being crank while you are pregnant! You smile all the time and I find no hint of crankiness in your attitude nor in your voice! You go girl! But while doing all this, gently speak to the baby at a certain time of the day! Bet you, he/she will remember your voice! Love and strength sent yours and Josh's way!

Since you have a basement if cool enough, could you out the cabbage in the basement without using the refrigerator? I just remember that my grandmother had a basement with bins built where she stored potatoes, cabbages and I believe squash, carrots. You need to eat on regular schedule and not get worn down. You might have to cut back on some things with a new baby. You need to rest now.
