A cleric or War Preist of some kind with holy magic would be interesting.
They just want you to be the same as they are. There are people out there that don't like it when others like or love a game. They want everyone to be haters of the game. It even has happened other other games in the Diablo Franchise and outside of the franchise. With D3 it has at times seemed that sense D3 wasn't a prettier clone of D2 there would be those that hated it and hated you if you like or love D3.
When some people think that not having unrestricted trading in D4 will kill it they are the ones that will most likely be the ones that are wanting it so they can bot for the best items in the game to sell for real money. I am sure that there won't be too many third party websites that will set up Dollar General type of websites that will profit off of what is tradeable in D4.
Character bound items WILL force players to restart a new champion as oppose to respec. You can't trade your gear for equivalent gear to try out new builds and experiment.. You'll have to grind for each character individually. Also can't transfer that gear... Enigma or even CoH is universal on characters... I could trade an occy for titans or even tstrokes... If I have CTA, Griff, Mara, Enigma, that's 3 builds I could try out seamlessly. Point being, one GG pair of casting or ias gloves should be transferable between all my characters and not locked onto a specific character. Also if I have gg casting gloves and decide I want to play an attack damage toon, I should be able to trade them out for similar quality ias gloves. I don't want to spend 80 hours on each character class to access end game content to experiment with different builds. Just feels like a very WoW approach.. Grind specific instances to get specific gear sets.. I get no dopamine from that, nothing accomplished...
@@jerrodhopper6558 So if you find a perfect item for druid build while grinding with your necromancer (or whatever), you can't share it with them in your private stash? That sounds like a hard pass to me, if they do that.

Happy New Year DB, love the honesty, and appreciate your takes. All I can hope is that the adjust certain things in D4 based on the collective streamer consensus. I also hope that it doesn’t completely murder all D2R content to a point that Blizzard chalks it up as dead, the occasional banter between all of the D2R streamers is entertaining and the least toxic I’ve come across which is refreshing.

going on your answer about terror zones in single player, there is a mod that makes it available in single player so its definitely possible for the dev to do it. The mod was out just a few days after the patch went live so I cant imagine it would be too difficult but it might be an online only feature but I think its supposed to come to non-ladder after this season.

Thanks for taking my question. I appreciate the answer. To me class specific loot is a larger problem. I'm going to buy ans play the game regardless of the trading system. Class specific loot in my opinion impedes replay potential. One of the aspects of Diablo that hooked me is playing say a Druid and finding a GG Necromancer item and instantly knowing what build and character you'll play next. I'm not stoked about no single player either. Happy New Year.
Completely agree. Sometimes it gets a little annoying playing a druid, for example, and getting items for other classes; but most of the time it is thanks to that bunch of different items I got that help me decide what class to play next 'coz i already had awesome items for it.

whats funny about that human bot thing is that my most recent job was to hand stuff envelopes, seal, and package them for shipping. I'd average around 1500-2000 per day. The same thing, over and over and over again. Lots of people are basically doing the human bot thing but every day of their lives.

on the subject of D2 soundtrack, in my opinion, much of the game's atmosphere goes to the music and ambient sounds of it, it grown very iconic music for the game genre for me, so I wondered what is your opinion on that :)
Can you create a video comparing the main sorc's used for MF post-sunder charm patch? For instance Lightning Sorc has always been pretty much the strongest one, but with the introduction of sunder charms who's the best/fastest MFer now? I'm thinking Lightning vs. Meteor Fireball vs. Blizzard. Fully decked out gear who is the fastest on major runs like Chaos and Baal. Lastly, doing something like Players 1 vs. Players 8 clear speed
I do think most youtubers are either paid, or maybe a more subtle thing like given new games and such for free, and that kind of implies giving good coverage even if not explicitly told to them. There are a lot of ways to push good reviews short of paying them directly.

With over 400 hours in d2r last year I had to take a nice little hiatus and I found myself enjoying the game recently but I only play for short little bursts not long blocks like I used too. Appreciate your take and I am optimistic this game can deliver

Cheers for the honest takes. I asked Sweet Phil a similar question about getting bored playing D2R during one of his recent live streams. Taking the financial incentives out of the equation, can you think of a natural progression for a 'regular' player to stay interested? I'm sitting with three fully decked-out lvl 94s (non-ladder) and it's becoming a bit of a chore to continue farming for what are essentially things I already have.

To get the true value out of runes like cham and zod because of its rarity, wouldn't it be good if you are able to cube the runes the other order? A zod become a 2 cham etc. Since blizzard are trying to get the runes more usefull..
Any RPG that values itself allows full trading. They just need to control it in-house like D3 launched. They take part in it and stays within the game.

Sounds like there making trading more complex then it needs to be. Why go to the trouble of extracting the power just trade the damn legendary or unique.
When you are listing few ARPG, I noticed you haven't mention Grim Dawn. I think it can be relevant for your personal knowledges to try this game if you have not yet. There's is plenty of good things in it that other ARPG can use.

its most likely ppl have already made up their mind about the game. a lot of d2 players have this mindset that d4 is not d2 so its overall a bad game, so they want you to be just as negative as them. fyi, i'm an avid d2 player I'm actually playing it right now in HC.

I hate that the classes are just a reskin of previous classes. I would love to see additional new classes. If you could speak with the dev team, what classes would you like be added to D4?
Dark Knight, or a spell binder from Mu Legend.
Spellbinder is a ranged phys/magic character that uses Chakarams Kunai and summoned sword skills
@@warlordbk I would like to see specialized magic users that go beyond ice, lightning and fire; something like geomancers, ocultists or illusionists. Some good old fashion rpg or p&p too, like arcane knights. I want to see actual benefits to picking classes aside from just skills availability that make two melee classes distinguishable from each other.

You aren't compensated from a monetary standpoint, but you get access to a dev discord where you can pitch ideas and get access to free games and other stuff like that as long as you aren't overly antagonistic toward blizzard/their games. I know a Total War content creator and that is how Creative Assembly works. I doubt Activision is much different.
I’ve always thought you were the most unbiased D2 content creator. Appreciate your videos and agree with the negatives you brought up. That said I’m still excited for D4! I’m sure it will improve over time, just like any other game.

In my opinion, all they need to do is adding more acts to d2r, new classes, unique/set items, new runewords and new skills that are available at level 80-90-95 etc. to give a real reason to people to reach high levels..it’s very unrewardy to exp hours to get only +1 skill and 5 stat points..
No way we will ever get whole new acts or classes.

I watch both you and Cooley videos and I'm glad your both proponents of free trade in D4.
I'm not typically the type of person to be vocal on any sort of comments sections or forums, but I was originally pumped for Last Epoch until they 100% backtracked on free trading.
I'm getting sick of the downward spiral of ARPGs into overly controlled garbage anymore. Last Epoch was supposed to represent what we wanted. I have never made a comment about Last Epoch in my life, but I am no longer going to purchase the game.
If D4 does not have free trading, then I will quietly do the same and not purchase D4.
I'm now just at the point where I need to speak out against these garbage hand holding ARPGs lately. I want free trading and zero hand holding.
I used to play a little known ARPG that had no max character levels, very player driven game play and content discovery. Very little transparency which enforced the players to discover the game and figure out how to best use itmes and character builds to become godly.
Most ARPGs now are hand holding garbage.
Anyways, maybe some day these game creators will just make an ARPG with full open trading, unlimited character levels, and player driven discovery of game mechanics and builds. No more hand holding to crybabies.
If I am ever going to play this game, I need to know how the map feel is.
I hate maps and worlds that become either just guided or so complicated that everything becomes unfamiliar.

Just got enjoyed with the guided path and no room for exploring, so I stopped playing it early on.
Worst thing about D4 for me is itemization and the trading. I think that's the biggest reason why people still play D2 after all these years. D3's items I can't even remember, atleast not anything from Reaper of Souls. Funny/sad how the game actually got worse over time instead of better. D3 was best a few months after launch imo.
Only items I remember from diablo 3 is the occy ring (was a glitch in diablo 2 battlenet as Mephistos loot pool would drop merged items but was a rare occurrence) and hellfire ring because they’re from diablo 2
I knew you would say that the worst missed item was that WF. I ALWAYS focus on Chamber because of that!
Do you think D4 will have some form of a Holy Grail. It is one of the things that I enjoy pursuing in D2R and it always surprises me that other ARPGs do not have this.

Have you thought of another channel for the other games you play? Do you play other 1st person RPGs such as God of War, Elden Ring, Shadow of War, or Assassin's Creed?
Come on, I love Diablo 2 a lot, I also love Dbrunski125's content, everything you share with us is amazing.
I will make an objective critique of what I consider the fanboy style sometimes of the Diablo 2 community, which blinds us to truly objective analysis.
1.- We want to compare Diablo 2 all the time with all the Diablos new games, and it seems to me that we are wrong, because they are games from very different generations, we believe that Diablo 2 is the center of everything and that everything has to come from there and that doesn't let us see and analyze new things correctly.
2.- We raise Diablo 2 as if it was the perfect game that everything did well and it is far from it, although I always love the game and have it in my heart, I would be blind if we see these details that are obvious in Diablo 2:
a) The itemization in the game is very bad, 90% of the items are obsolete, and for certain builds like casters they are close to copy paste equipments and that is also a lousy design.
b) Many romanticize the trades in Diablo 2 as if it were something wonderful, but in reality it is the opposite, the trades break with the essence of an ARPG that is having fun farming and farming, it comes in a moment that you only play a Trade Simulator and not an ARPG, because there comes a time in the game that you get better profits from Trade than from farming and that can never be right in a game that its essence should be farming.
c) A limited variety of builds and gameplay, just with the release of Diablo 2 Resurrected it was finally possible to have a little more variety and with the help of the sunders charms it helped him to experiment with new things, but before This was very poor in the variety of gameplay forms, even today we all have to start with a sorceress yes or yes, and that defect of lack of variety remains the same, the dependence on the sorceress to start the game is still very heavy.
3.-My comments are only so that we also open our eyes, and that we do not lose objectivity in criticizing a new Diablo game, because if we want to analyze everything with the banner that Diablo 2 is perfect, and that I have to analyze everything through the veil of Diablo 2 that is a serious mistake, we have not tested the game enough, referring to Diablo 4 and we are already idealizing many things ahead of time, at the moment we will value it and enjoy it.

@@pdrizzle8120 Tbh no it would not. They made more money with Diablo Immortal than they will ever do with D2, D3 and D4 combined. That is how the mainstream gaming industrie works nowadays. Microtransactions are the main source of income, not selling games.
D2R is niche, even though it is huge for an 20 year old game, still niche and not profitable.
They will make 50x more money with selling cosmetics in D4 than with actual selling the game.
But yeah, I dream about that too.
@@rufius4050 nah you’re right lol. I never touched Diablo immortal due to the p2w on it. The thing is I also wouldn’t mind dropping a few bucks for cosmetics on d2r to keep it going either. D2 has such a loyal fan base on top of the hr sellers between the 2 I’m sure it would sell well.

Trading for me isn’t a necessity to enjoy a game generally, but one of the things that makes an ARPG like Diablo have longevity is the trade economy. Grinding away on solo self found online or in group play and getting that dopamine hit from a gg drop on an open trade game means that one gg item allows you to potentially get any other specific gg item you need for your character. It allows for all drops to mean something, even if it’s not for the play-style you want to play at that time. Without that trade, and without the randomness of the drop (class based loot or not), there isn’t much that keeps the end game grind interesting.
blizzard missing that why diablo 2 was so great. it's simple you have freedom to do anykind spec from carbage to god tier and like old school players remeber there wasn't atribute/skilll reset so you had to start all over again to make it work.
tbh you shouldn't even have to explain yourself, anyone who think you're being paid is smooth brained

With the large increase in Diablo 2 streamers do you have any opinions on the power gap? There is no way a solo Diablo player can keep up with the community support and game hours of even the smallest streamers. MFing, Preferred Trading, Players 8 support for 99. Any ideas on a solution to help individual farmers, or even encourage smaller groups of 2 -5 that they are 99 race, speed run, or even top 1000 ladder viable? (This is more of a devils advocate question. Just curious of you opinion).

I’m planning on buying the game and playing all the characters
I can't write anything off, a game or otherwise, untill i've formed an objective perspective. In other words, give things a chance before you dismiss it, you may be pleasantly suprised.
I agree with the take that restricted trade will destroy a big aspect of the game & likely will end up being the reason why Diablo 4 will end up not as replayable for me. It's one of the biggest reasons why I even play loot grinding isometric arpgs.
Restricted loot makes meaningful loot drops for other classes that you're not playing/don't plan to play that season feel terrible. Whenever your one GG find for the week ends up being a meta progression item for another class that can't be traded away, so it's either charsi food or "4x legendary shards" that you can craft into useless early game legendary items, it's just really lame & destroys any motivation that I had to keep grinding. Happened in D3, will probably happen in D4. Sad.
Luckily it doesn't seem like GGG will follow in the same footsteps & understand that trade/economy is a massive part of the online experience. My prediction is that PoE 2 will have more longevity than D4, just like it does now with PoE & D3. Blizzard never learns.
Diablo 4 is going to be a shit show... It will burn out faster than D3 did...

I'm usually NOT playing D2R at all. But then when I occasionally get the urge to play, I play a bunch for a few weeks or so. Then I'm back to not playing it at all. So it comes in big bursts for me.
I love D1 as a single playthrough (not doing Endgame/Grind). I didn't like D3. But I think you bring up a great point that perspective is everything. I still enjoyed D3 more than TL/TL2, GD, and PoE. But I think I'm just really picky when it comes to ARPGs, so D1 and D2/D2R are the only ones that "make the cut", for me personally, based on my own tastes.
Edit: And if it counts, BL2 for sure.

There is still so much more they could do with Resurrected, I think coming out with 4 is a big mistake. It will hurt Resurrected and to be honest 4 is not looking that impressive.

Yea i heard that too and really liked that idea. Providing incentives like that on ladder and nonladder i believe will help satisfy most of the player base thoughts on trading.
