GOOD IDEA! MAKE THE ROLLER THINNER, SO IT DENTS AGAIN EASIER, makes more work for them
Question #1 : how do you get this dented ? ? ?
That's the taillight warranty. It's warrantied until we can't see your taillights any more.
You can make it thinner between the tolerances
I’m sure it was already clapped out when they got it. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
@@TryItAgainTomorrow well said mare
this is a good way to keep a constant supply of work. make it look shinny while also making the metal thinner so its more likely to bend again

I swear if I was rich & was looking to start a repair / refurbishment shop, these guys would be my 1st stop. I would work out a deal to either move them or setup shop there, but they honestly deserve to be respected & well paid. They do absolutely amazing work with basic tools & it's incredible to watch! I bet the customer was thinking, hey, that had a full tank of diesel when I brought it in!
Complete disassembly of vehicle to drain the remaining fuel sitting on the bottom of tank, carburettor the fuel pipe and return pipe, although I would not be surprised if that was missing since the original mechanics probably deemed it unnecessary, that's probably on the top of Hilton hotel, been converted into "roof mount long john spinners"

This reminds me of my dead pal, Tommy Lee who was a field machinist at a steel mill. Once he was telling how he had field bored a 13 foot diameter cylinder. When I corrected him by saying, "You mean 13 inch.", he looked at me as if I were an idiot. "I know how big it was, I bored the damn thing." Talk about new-found respect!

What is captain America doing here working on heavy equipment??
He is a good welder, doesn't try to cover in one wide pass like untrained welders.
Of all the dangerous techniques I just saw, the worst one, and one nobody mentioned, was their use of a swarf hook. Their clothing was WAY too close. It’s so easy to get pulled in by a shaving and get an arm or torso sliced right off.

I wonder what are the variations of thickness on the cylinder itself after they make the exterior more or less round. Compared to the manufacturer specifications.
Exactly, I was thinking the same, the less thick it becomes the more it is prone to be bent again.
At some point the cylinders have to be replaced.

Drum gets dented, bring in to shave drum down to repair. Drum now easier to dent, gets dented comes in for repair and get shaved down. Drum now even thinner gets dented and comes in for... You see where i'm going with this lol
Техника безопасности у них на уровне )
Amazing craftsmanship and skill on display here. As an auto tech in the US, it completely impresses me how they repair almost EVERYTHING there. We have gone the other way. It used to be cost efficient to rebuild an alternator. Hardly anyone does that here anymore. I have rebuilt my own and a few for customers but finding the parts has become difficult. Parts stores used to stock rebuild/reseal kits for power steering pumps and gearboxes. No more. We used to be able to get brake caliper rebuild kits. No more.
There's repairing back to factory spec, and then there's 'pakky spec' - two vastly different things.
they didn't fix it . they just make thinner than before and weaker
It’s not broken and ready to head to a recycler unless some mechanics in a foreign country using hand tools can’t fix it 😂❤️🐐💯
New bearings...
Похоже их работодатель решил что раз у них огромное количество населения то можно не заморачиваться даже с минимальной техникой безопасности, "Одним больше, одним меньше - кто их считать будет?"
капитализм.
How can you not be impressed by the skill and hard work that goes into this repair. We live in a throw away world here in the west, the ingenuity on display here to recycle and repair should be a lesson to us all. Great video.
It is impressive. But I guarantee they don't just throw away those drums in the west. They cost tens of thousands of USD, at least. They repair them much the same way: they weld more material into the low spots, then machine them round again on a large lathe. It's virtually the same thing, only it's a purpose-built piece of equipment.
@Jester J You actually believe people in the west just throw away a $100,000 drum when they could repair it for $5,000. Talk about dense. 🤦♂
Agreed ❤
We do repair such parts here. But we do it in a way which does not jeopardise the lives of workers.

Let me just say. For about five hundred dollars they could all be using Air Tools. Just sayin’. I get, using hand tools. But not for that work. Come on owner. Buy each guy his own air impact wrench. So much time and effort making sure the drum dimensions are true and accurate. If the roller were operated with the drum out of alignment, it will work yes, but the roads it paves will look as if they're in Trinidad and Tobago, all bumpy and uneven. Which is okay for Trinidad and Tobago, but apparently even Pakistan, a fellow third world country has higher standards.
For the basic tools that they have you can’t criticise the repair. Seeing the machine in drive without anyone in the driver’s seat is unbelievable, this is fundamental safety
@@williamrose7184 Killing somebody that’s just doing their job through a foreseeable accident 1% of the time isn’t really acceptable though, which is why we have these rules.

Apart from the fact the drum is now thinner and more likely to distort the Engine now needs an overhaul with all that running.
Exactly the comment i was looking for 😂
And that weld should have been fillet cut with root and cap passes.
the engine is fine u think a couple hours of a heavy machinery operating is gonna need a overhaul yea okay lmao.
The surface removed was minimal and wouldn’t affect the overall strength there over engineered during production anyway. You’d only get away with doing this a couple of times though until it did fail. As for the engine not sure why running it would require an overhaul?

Someone who has context, can you tell if they’re working harder, smarter, or both? Seems like a lot of manual labor to fix this, but at the same time that’s not always a bad thing and they might be working very efficiently.
I don’t have context, but I can tell that they’re definitely working harder, because most companies in the west would just buy a new roller and scrap the old one. And with the amount of dangerous techniques and the total disregard for safety, they’re definitely not doing it smarter. Good on them for fixing this, but really this video shows how to get a difficult job done when you don’t have access to the best tools
It’s not efficient. Human labor is always like five times more expensive than getting the equivalent amount of power from electric or fuel fossil fuel machines. It only looks efficient.
Remember Pakistan is one of the poorest coutries worldwide but on the other hand home of these "super high skilled professionals" we can see in all Pakistani videos.
There must be a correlation, but i don't know what it could be.

Love to see a straight edge on that roller after they were done - that thin bar was obviously bending. Probably has a nice crown😂😂😂
Just how did they dent the roller so badly? Drive it off a cliff? Ram it into a wall?
