Unironically Clarence is probably one of the best kid's show depiction of OCD I've seen. Jeff being able to still join in on the fun while still being more reserved and germophobia, it made me as a person with (then undiagnosed) OCD feel so seen. The constant worrying of getting in trouble, the perfectionism and the fear of germs, but also being able to play with my friends
I don't have ocd, but I do have anxiety, and I related very much to Jeff's own intrusive thoughts and or disdain of germs and or being safer. He honestly he was my favorite next to Sumo.
wait, people hated Apple and Onion? i loved that show, it was 2 guys going on funny relatable adventures, and it was so heartwarming to watch with the occasional serious moment. there's also the fact that it was technically diverse, since some of the food were foods from other countries, like Patty Empanada, or Falafel.
Apple and Onion is great deadpan humor presented in an understated way. So it's kinda the antithesis of the CN brand. I always enjoy watching it even though I realize it's a show with like no stakes and a sort of old fashioned comedy duo vibe.
Fr , the guy called falafel a burrito, A BURRITO ,anyway ,the food being divers is really fun ,I like that one Ramen noodles guy who is a rapper , the lollipop, and sambosa and falafel, also onion being Canadian just makes since
Funny story about Apple and Onion: I was in Buffalo for a swim meet with my mom and brother. We were in the hotel room resting up before the finals that day and Apple and Onion was on. There was an episode where they featured the Jerk Chicken. For those who don’t know: Jerk chicken is a Caribbean delicacy. They showed him pulling out some Lard and he went “Lard? Lard? Lawd a mercy!” Which is a pretty popular saying in Jamaica. My mom is Jamaican and she had a good laugh at that bit. It’s been a running gag that whenever I see a Jamaican character, I just point it out to my mom and we get a lil chuckle out of it. That’s one of the good things I love about AAO. The cultural foods actually have actors from said culture playing them and making it accurate. Which isn’t new for CN since they’ve been doing this for so long. The Jerk Chicken has an *actual* Jamaican actor voicing him and the Falafel has a Middle Eastern actor. I love that they show different foods from different cultures :)
I don't remember much about Clarence because it wasn't my favourite show, but what stands out to me now is its representation. -Jeff is a germophobe with OCD and two mums -Clarence's mum is divorced, he has a loving step-dad -Sumo is outwardly poor with a huge family This one really tried to show what American school kids are actually like, with their unique family situations and neurodivergencies. It's a sincere show, and I'm lucky to have grown up with it

I'm honestly so happy with your positivity towards Clarence. It was one of my favorite shows growing up for all the reasons you stated! @@jumentoqueanimaI think that's where the contention is rooted. People were comparing them when they're different genres. GF and SU have humor, but they're more serialized stories with drama. Pretty sure people didn't like it because the original creator suffered a mental breakdown and got fired for sexual harassment. That, and the fact that, like you said, it wasn't Gravity Falls or Steven Universe. Uncle Grampa being hated on was because people these days don't like wacky humor in cartoons unless it's an adult cartoon. I blame anime and parents sheltering their kids too much.

I was the only one back then who enjoyed this show, because I was the only one in my friend group who watched it. When I showed Clarence to a friend back then, he actually enjoyed it and it turned out he just had a lot of prejudices towards Clarence because he thought it looked stupid. He then introduced me to BreadWinners, a show I hold the same prejudices against and I actually liked it. Even my Dad liked BreadWinners and watched it with me sometimes. We still sometimes reference these two Cartoons.
Looking back at Clarence and watching it as an adult I started to absolutely love it. I watched it here and there when it first came out, but I never fully got into it until two years ago
My family and I will quote "Welcome to Mart Mart the place you go when you need things for stuff." from one episode of Uncle Grandpa (I think It was called Shaving cream/Nickname season 1 or 2) and we also quote "When I was a little girl about your age" (This Episode 30:50) whenever we can.
I totally forgot about breadwinners, I freaking loved it! Also, Apple and Onion and Clarence are on my top 5 list of all time. (Awesomemay, did you see the bottle catch episode in Apple and Onion? I play that game in real life with my friends, thats how awesome it is.)
Dang, I did not expect you to mention Carol and the End of the World. Knowing about shows like that means that you're really tuned into the animated world.
I'm genuinely happy for the past few years more and more people have forgiven shows like Clarence and uncle grandpa. They weren't bad just weird as hell at the time, hope more people learn about clarence
As a kid, I never really knew why I liked Clarence, I was like 11 to 12 when it came out and I just had fun watching it. Now that I'm older, I realize I liked it because of how relatable and grounded it felt. Seeing Clarence go through the kinds of adventures and shenanigans I had was just so fun to see.
i love clarence its unironically one of my fav shows i was legit like clarence when i was in elementary school so watching it is legit like watching an exaggerated version of shit i would get up to when i was younger. its especially strange cuz my other favorite shows are stuff like bojack horseman and breaking bad and edgy angsty reddit gold r/im14andthisisdeep type shows so clarence is really an outlier and of all shows to be an outlier i think clarence being it is pretty funny
OK KO was ONE of the best shows from CN, I miss it but still watch the show on Hulu. I still draw the characters and my ocs and Professors Venomous was the best villain (for MANY reasons >:3✨) along side boxman too. Wonder if you’ll do a review of it someday
Finally, Clarence and uncle grandpa get some recognition for once also I very much recommend watching the six episode special. It’s in season three there’s four episodes after that but I really just consider the six episode special the end, but to be honest that’s one of the best episodes and if we were to tally them up. It comes to around an hour of watch time
I had the same exact thing where when I was about to start watching Flapjack on HBOMax, It was taken off the next day I was going to start watching it. Now I have no Flapjack 😭
I can say with confidence that Uncle Grandpa is one of the most overlooked cartoons of our time. It genuinely made me laugh when I watched it at a hotel or a campground since I didn't have cable at home.
I didn’t know people hated breadwinners, I remember when it was still on air and how I used to write down all the different types of bread they found. Simpler times honestly
Loved the video game aesthetic the show had it reminded me of Scott pilgrim , and I think the reason people hated it is because of the gross out humor which is understandable
I remember watching breadwinners a lot, I actually loved that show Though there were some episodes that were bad but almost all shows usually have that one episode you don’t like
I remember watching and really liking Uncle Grandpa and also being a little disappointed when I heard people disliked it. When I saw it, I knew it was a show that didn't take itself seriously and I genuinely enjoyed it for its weirdness.
A song that i love from Apple and Onion is the song Lil Noodle sings in the bird episode. It was randomly recommended to me last week. I used to love this show, and I TOTALLY forgot about it
Onion being in love with the queen, then serving Queen Whatevra Wa´nabi (aka technically Emmet´s daughter since he created her) as an ice cream cone in The Lego Movie 2, at least his wish came true.
Dude don't trash on Harvey Beaks. I recommend it, it's a nice and cozy show and down to earth. Also it's creator is the same one who created chowder and it's very contrasting from the randomness and 4th wall breaks of chowder to the calm and down to earth vibe of Harvey Beaks not to say it doesn't have its chaotic moments. They also had this steampunk special which I really liked.
is the show bad? Clarence: not even in the slightest Apple and onion: depends on who you ask Uncle grandpa :not in a million years Breadwinner: kinda ALL MY OPINION
Dude me and my sibling used to always watch breadwinners when we were at our grandmas, and loved it.I don't like it as much now, but it is still a part of my childhood that i will never forget.
The newer shows that are coming out with their intense plots and strong characters are great, but I want to see more shows like the ones in this video (minus breadwinners, I watched the whole show and hated it) because I need me something to watch that isnt emotional or intense but instead g=funny and goofy
apple and onion made me scared to eat apples because of the show everytime i eat an apple i imagine an eyeball in my mouth just rolling around as i crunch
I’ve watched all of these shows back in like 2020. I don’t remember a lot but I do remember enjoying them since they were just shows I could sit and enjoy without thinking too hard about it. I think I enjoyed Clarence the most since I remember watching most of the episodes, and I always watched Uncle Grandpa when going to bed. I need to watch these shows again.
Clarence was one of those shows that was so charming my Dad watched it and that never happens Also I’m not big on Steven Universe or Uncle Grandpa but MMMAAN was that episode a banger (I really wanted to see Uncle Grandpa help out Clarence tho 😤)

i loved uncle grandpa so much, i remember watching it when i first woke up and my cousins put on whatever was on, and i kinda liked it as background for when i was just chilling as a kid. also apple and onion i watched one time out of sheer boredom and thought it was alright for background. I was like 13 when i watched apple and onion and i was like 7 when i watched uncle grandpa. I’m 16 and watching clarence rn 😭 and i kinda like it
I actually enjoyed Clarence and Uncle Grandpa. I watched I little bit of Apple and Onion and it was fine. BreadWinners was actually from I think a UA-cam animation. And Nickelodeon decided to call the animators for that video to make the series.
Harvey Beaks is my favorite shows from new nicolodion shows , its pretty calm (not absurd) its like Clarence in a part of showing childhood in relatable way ( too me at least) ❤
breadwinners was weird but looking back...no it's still weird. too many butt jokes. But hey that show has a better concept than sanjay and craig....scratch that, fanboy and chum chum was alittle easier to watch than both of those shows. Anyway i really enjoy shows like Clarence. i feel that its rare to see shows about just kids being themself and living life, these days. Shows like recess, hey arnold, as told by ginger, even kids next door just to name a few are great examples of this. I included kids next door because in the grand scheme of it all they are just kids playing pretend.
Honestly, after watching so many Cartoon Network shows, just the song “Just one step at a time and you’ll find your way~” occupies my mind, rent free (If you know, you know)
Clarence came out at a perfect time for me as I was about the same age as him and even then, as an 8 year old I thought he was a very realistic character. Him and his friends' personalities were very similar (if not exactly) like mine and other kids I knew! Although I found him annoying at times, I still really enjoyed watching episodes! At first Jeff was my favorite character because of how he was more logical, but as the show went on, I started to like Sumo the most. Some of the best episodes imo were revolved around him! For Uncle Grandpa, I actually enjoyed watching a lot of the early seasons (though the later seasons weren't that good and the art started to look different)! It was weird and random, but I thought that made it pretty creative! Again, I was a bit annoyed by how the characters could be way too purposely dumb at times and as a kid I really didn't like Pizza Steve (though now I actually sympathize with him a lot), but I still got a laugh out of it! Mr. Gus was my favorite character! As for Apple and Onion... never watched it :)
Apple and onion have a very diverse cast ,(falafel is not a burrito ,he's an arabic food and is often shown being in Egypt in his flashbacks ) but only being diverse is not enough, and this show is absolutely in a sad state ,everytime i think about it makes me sad ,and the creator barely has any followers, i just think about how the creator was excited to make a show ,only for it to be the most boring and save thing ever
Crazy thing about Clarence is, it somewhat did have a proper conclusion. iirc, there was a season 4 that was on MAX (which to my knowlegde was the only place it was avalible) but unfortunately when Clarence was pulles from the streaming service, along with several other cartoons, season 4 became really hard to find.

I totally forgot about breadwinners, I freaking loved it! Also, Apple and Onion and Clarence are on my top 5 list of all time. (Awesomemay, did you see the bottle catch episode in Apple and Onion? I play that game in real life with my friends, thats how awesome it is.)
I first watched Breadwinners on a day I was sick from school and liked it and was practically obsessed with it.
No don't even try to rewrite that Breadwinners crap.. it was nothing but uninteresting jokes and fart humor
as a child, it was funny@@daymonharris8696

Its crazy how most of the cartoons that were apparently hated(especially the ones included in this video) were some of my favorites as a child
Dang, I did not expect you to mention Carol and the End of the World. Knowing about shows like that means that you're really tuned into the animated world.
i always loved Clarence! you guys slept on it!
also you brought back memories when u mentions pickle and peanut…. great video btw!
agreed and thanks :)

I used to watch Clarence a lot during my Highschool years and I love it. Now I'm 23 year old dude and I still watch it from time to time. It's fun~
I used to ALWAYS watch uncle grandpa and Clarence every single day. I literally never hated it and always loved both of them.
OK KO was ONE of the best shows from CN, I miss it but still watch the show on Hulu. I still draw the characters and my ocs and Professors Venomous was the best villain (for MANY reasons >:3✨) along side boxman too. Wonder if you’ll do a review of it someday
Who would win in a fight, professor venomous or lord shen [ok ko vs kung fu panda 2]
Finally, Clarence and uncle grandpa get some recognition for once also I very much recommend watching the six episode special. It’s in season three there’s four episodes after that but I really just consider the six episode special the end, but to be honest that’s one of the best episodes and if we were to tally them up. It comes to around an hour of watch time
i dont care if you hate on clarence, but you cannot deny the opening goes hard
6:26 The outro of Clarence is called “Good Habits (and Bad)” It’s on Spotify and I have no regret trying to find it
I had the same exact thing where when I was about to start watching Flapjack on HBOMax, It was taken off the next day I was going to start watching it. Now I have no Flapjack 😭
I can say with confidence that Uncle Grandpa is one of the most overlooked cartoons of our time. It genuinely made me laugh when I watched it at a hotel or a campground since I didn't have cable at home.
I used to watch Uncle Grandpa all the time. Favorite episode was when he was playing video games and the loading screen was taking forever.
I remember watching breadwinners a lot, I actually loved that show
Though there were some episodes that were bad but almost all shows usually have that one episode you don’t like
I remember watching and really liking Uncle Grandpa and also being a little disappointed when I heard people disliked it.
Clarence: not even in the slightest
Apple and onion: depends on who you ask
Uncle grandpa :not in a million years
Breadwinner: kinda
ALL MY OPINION
I agree with this take.
W Take
Breadwinners would have been decent if the show didn't abuse toilet humor.
I think Rock Paper Scissors might be a modern cartoon that is funny and goofy in a good way.
@@happaxgamma aight ill check it out
Big City Greens is pretty good. It's a wholesome show with a really chaotic nature.
Bro Awesomemay you post like every 3 months but the quality you put in to your videos are amazing
And of course you can’t have a weird ass cartoon like uncle grandpa without weird al yankovic for a reason not even god knows
I mean back at the Barnyard had him So of course Uncle Grandpa has got him.
apple and onion made me scared to eat apples
because of the show everytime i eat an apple i imagine an eyeball in my mouth just rolling around as i crunch
Uncle Grandpa feels like if the writers read Homestuck and said: I can make something more random than this
everybody just forgot about apple and onion, that show is super underrated
I’ve watched all of these shows back in like 2020. I don’t remember a lot but I do remember enjoying them since they were just shows I could sit and enjoy without thinking too hard about it. I think I enjoyed Clarence the most since I remember watching most of the episodes, and I always watched Uncle Grandpa when going to bed. I need to watch these shows again.
Clarance was me and my siblings shi as a kid 💪🏽‼️‼️ love the intro it still scratches my brain
Clerance
Clarence and uncle grampa made my childhood
Clarence was one of those shows that was so charming my Dad watched it and that never happens
Also I’m not big on Steven Universe or Uncle Grandpa but MMMAAN was that episode a banger (I really wanted to see Uncle Grandpa help out Clarence tho 😤)
Apple & Onion is *peak*
Till this day 💯
Specifically the music
CLARENCE IS SO GOOD WHAT AND UNCLE GRANDPA AND APPLE AND ONION LITERALLY AMAZING I used to log in to play the magi swords game whenever it was on THESE ARE INSANE I LOVED THESE

Dude as a kid i actually hated that show. And i loved uncle grandpa...
god i vividly remember seeing the Clarence dream episode thing and felt like it a was a damn fever dream, yes i was pretty young and this happened to me when Clarenc was still on CN
i loved uncle grandpa so much, i remember watching it when i first woke up and my cousins put on whatever was on, and i kinda liked it as background for when i was just chilling as a kid. also apple and onion i watched one time out of sheer boredom and thought it was alright for background.
Blake's Place is so cool wait thank you for making me check them out they are the most niche creator to have on. Great video
Harvey Beaks is my favorite shows from new nicolodion shows , its pretty calm (not absurd) its like Clarence in a part of showing childhood in relatable way ( too me at least) ❤
uncle grandpa sounds like patrick
breadwinners was weird but looking back...no it's still weird. too many butt jokes.
Honestly even with my Nostalgia for breadwinners I agree.
They're Ducks, What Did You Expect?
Honestly, after watching so many Cartoon Network shows, just the song
“Just one step at a time and you’ll find your way~” occupies my mind, rent free
(If you know, you know)
Petition for Awesomemay to Awesomemay more
i will do it more
Now the Apple and Onion song will be stuck in my head for another 7 years, thank you
Jeff is literally Minecraft Steve.
Great video May! Btw is your refrigerator running?
I'm not upset to say that when steven universe was airing, the cross over episode was one of my favorites
It's too dumb not to love, still love it lol
Finally, AWESOMEMAY IS BACK!
that funny face ep in uncle grandpa gave me nightmares as a kid
People thought uncle grandpa sucked?
Maybe the 2010s weren’t as good as I remember
You know it’s gonna be a good day when awesomemay uploads a new video
You should do more cartoon reviews
Uncle grandpa was my childhood. I like to go back and watch some of the cartoons I did as a kid I just like that hit of nostalgia
The ones in the thumbnail (besides BreadWinners.) were really good.

bro apple and onion has been a favorite cartoon of mine ever since it came out 😭😭its so charming, funny, and chill im surprised its considered hated, everyone ive known either knows nothing about it or loves it. i guess the artstyle is a little ugly but idk the colors are nice i really enjoy everything else about the show honestly
I rememberd being dissed on liking these shows when they were out. from people telling me Clarance looked too weird to watch, to uncle grandpa being cringe. so its nice to know the stuff I like is finally getting recognized as they gems they truly were.
Uncle grandpa is an omnipotent being of chaos, so watch it or he will enter our realm
