  • In this video, we delve into several hot topics in the tech world. First, we discuss stability issues with Intel's 14th and 13th gen CPUs and the BIOS updates released by ASUS and Gigabyte to address them. Then, we explore MSI's decision to focus primarily on Nvidia RTX GPUs, leaving behind AMD's Radeon 7000 series. We analyze the reasons behind this shift, including profitability and market demand. Additionally, we discuss AMD's challenges in gaining market share in the GPU industry and the potential impact of their upcoming RDNA4 architecture. We also touch on the supply shortage of Nvidia's RTX 40 series GPUs in the Asian market and speculate on the causes. Finally, we wrap up with insights into the competitive landscape between Nvidia and AMD and what it means for the future of GPU technology. Does no one do static overclock anymore?

  • @ScottGrammer
    @ScottGrammer 2 місяці тому +3

    Motherboard manufacturers screwed up by overpowering CPU's out of the box, because they know that they have to compete with real overclockers, even when their boards get sold to people who don't know how to set up an overclock. It's perfectly possible to overclock a CPU to increase its performance while maintaining stability and not degrading the silicon seriously. I've been doing it since 1998. But - that said - your results will vary based on your experience, the particular CPU you have, what motherboard you have, and your patience level and ability to keep track of multiple settings and the results of changing them. When I overclock a CPU, I set aside an entire day to do it. It takes that long to get the best out of a chip and make sure it's stable and won't die. My Ryzen 9 5950X hits north of 30,000 in R23, and has done so for nearly two years now.
    Motherboard manufacturers need to have their bioses run a CPU at stock voltage, stock power limits, etc, out of the box. If the end user wants more, let him or her learn how to make it happen and take responsibility for the results.

    It's all fine for Intel to say motherboard makers were not following their guiidelines, but they were happy to take the benchmarking results when it came to selling the i9 product. I think the case for re-benchmarking the i9 product is getting stronger. It's a 'good idea' not but 'essential' when the final fix arrives. Personally, I wouldn't touch an i9 at this point. It's worth no more that an i7...if you want to buy intel.

    Sometimes I wonder if i should have a tech channel
    1-you do not need a intel profile on msi boads, the user just needs to select "boxed cooler" and the board will set intel defaults for whatever processor is installed.
    2-The performance tests done with the gigabyte profile are flawed since for whatever reason the nutcases doing it were using a 13900QS , that is a qualification sample - aka a pre release test 13900- and not a retail i9, and as such pl2 was set at 188 watts and 249 A of icc cache, that is essentially the base line setting for a 14600k. As a result those performance comparisons and losses are incorrect .

      Essentially you lower the voltage that is being supplied to your GPU, while maintaining the same clock speeds. This in return drops temperatures, since lower voltage means the silicon gets cooler, lower power consumption, so potentially lower power bills, and theoretically higher silicon lifespan, since less voltage goes thru the silicon. It's worth it trying, if your card runs a tad bit too hot with its stock settings. Definitely made a difference on my 3070 Ti dropping it down to 230-ish Watts, thing is a power hog on stock settings (almost 300 Watts on full load!!!).

At the end I got in 2022 the Asus Dual RX 6600 and 2023 for my other build the XFX Qick RX 6750 XT. Each time I was about to consider the MSi mechs but they where allways more expensive by a long shot and had only an plastic backplate. Sapphire and XFX are chinese companies so be aware of that. ALL 70-class sold in the last DECADE, since the GTX 670, have had a 256-bit memory bus, not 192-bit. And 16GB should have been standard with the 3000 series. Man no wonder MSI works especially for my 10900k at 5.3ghz with 32gb ram hitting at 4533mhz 16-17-17-35 on a z590 unify X paired with a MSI rtx 4090 liquid X working flawless as hell

    MSI should just stop making ALL GPU's cause they are junk and don't last. Not worth wasting money on IMO.

    In this business, if you idle too long u die. Just ask Intel. AMD hasn't been competitive in the GPU for the last FOUR generations - FOUR Generations! People. That's EIGHT YEARS. AMD needs to merge with Intel's GPU division A.I. (how cute). If they work together, they have a good chance to be competitive with Nvidia. Co-design the GPU with Intel fabricating it.

      I would rather see three manufacturers trying to compete than see the same, almost close to the same duopoly we've been getting for decades (AMD vs Nvidia)

    4060 (Ti) is complete garbage anyway, who would buy that shit?

      semi pro crowd? the same way those people end up favoring 3060 12GB over 3060Ti or 3070. 4060Ti 16GB at $500 is a steal compared to comparable A4000 20GB that end up costing bear $2000 due to heavy AI demand. that's why during launch Asus dare to price their 4060Ti 16GB at much more expensive price than their 4070. because they now which crowd craving for such card.
