As a dedicated Bumblefoot fan of 20+ years, 9:01 - 9:42 is the moment I was hoping for in this video. It's criminal how few accolades and little recognition have come Ron's way for how unbelievably good and talented he is. And that he's a good dude who's humble (especially for someone being THAT good)? He's an absolute legend with a musical signature that will never, ever be duplicated. Not even close. \m/,
I've met him when he came here to Bolivia with gnr, he changed me. I was working backstage (only went to work there to see him with my normal album, hoping he will sign it) saw him, shout his name, he approach, showed him my album. Everything escalated from that point, he went to the stage brought an acoustic guitar and gave us a show, he played some songs from normal, he literally changed my vision of what i want to become as a musician.
My favorite Dream Theater album, Falling Into Infinity, was the second Derek Sherinian album with the band. As much love as I have for Jordan Rudess, DT hasn't topped that album since then. Best DT song ever? Lines in the Sand. Seriously great melody, keyboards, arrangement, vocals....everything came together so damn well. After watching Billy play with David Lee Roth, I realized that bass guitar could be "more" than what every other band was using it for. Damn you, Billy, for making me pick up the bass. I still can't play it worth a shit, thirty years later, but that's not your fault. Still, you made me do it. ;) Jeff is that guy that you've heard so often but just can't remember the name. A humble front man is really hard to find - especially one so talented. Talisman has been in my rotation for twenty years, and that's not going to change any time soon. Ron? Dude, I don't know how you're not on the cover of every guitar magazine or near the top of every guitar poll. Seriously. The Adventures of Bumblefoot should've set the music world on fire, 9:11 is just as touching today as it was then, and I still can't understand why Normal/Abnormal didn't make waves. Glad to see you playing these other cats. Can't wait to see what you do with it. MP has brought me to so many different groups. Because of him, I listen to Marillion, the Dixie Dregs, Neal Morse, Transatlantic, Tony Levin, Fates Warning, AMob, Bigelf, The Winery Dogs (seriously great trio), King Crimson, Spock's Beard, and probably some other such folk. Seriously great chops. I remember reading a review of Mike's drumming for Neal Morse, where the reviewer tried to be cheeky saying something like (I'm paraphrasing from bad memory) it sounded like Mike Portnoy left his drumset outside in a hail-storm and somehow recorded it. Obviously, he's far less chaotic and more methodical, but it's a testament to his abilities which I'll never forget. The first time I heard Mike was with the DT album "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence", with the opening song "Glass Prison". The moment the drums hit after the extended intro, my mind was blown. Great job, Mike. Mad props. I'm pretty excited seeing these guys together. Can't wait to see what happens.
wow that is some amazing chemistry between these guys. I am sooo hyped for the whole album, the first 2 songs were killer. totally wicked formation, this is gonna be sooo great.
Can't wait to hear this album! I really hope these guys stay together for a while. Super groups rarely last. It's gotta be pretty damn hard to control and channel that much talent, but maybe this time it'll work. Let's hope.
Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!! On a side note, this can be the name of their album after MMXX which, by the way, has already received critical acclaim with its opening song 'Goodbye Divinity' having more than 4M views on this platform to date.
Hope , Mike stay a little bit longer in this band, as in Adrenaline Mob... so they have a chance, to become a Prog Metal " Supergroup", but my stomach say,... ok!?... another project of MP!?....and 2 Years later, he will leave the band.. to start a new project.... Mike is fantastic, i'm a great fan of him.... but he's like a butterfly, he jump from flower to flower!!.
OMG I hate having to always say this, but I've only EVER *left* 2 bands in my life: DT (after 25 years!) and AMOB (because of scheduling conflicts w TWD)....beyond that I've stayed with, built and developed EVERY other band I've formed!! And each and every one of them is important and precious to me!! (The Winery Dogs, Flying Colors, The Neal Morse Band, Metal Allegiance, Transatlantic, etc) If *I* can handle juggling 87 bands, what the hell do you care?? The more music, the better!!
Mike, the problem with juggling so many is that no one can keep track of your balls. Maybe you can, but the rest of us are like "What happened to Mike's other balls?" BTW: Saw you more than a few times, and the best part (each time) was seeing just how much fun you were having. When you have fun, we have fun. PS: You brought me to both Transatlantic and Neal Morse and my kids hate you for it, since daddy listens to prog in the car, no matter what.
I know Mike is genius behind drum in DT.....i don't know shit about sotto, bumblefoot, Richie kotzen, Neal Morse, Roine Stolt, Pete Trewavas, Daniel Gildenlöw etc and when they work with mike now I realized that those man are incredible musicians If mike do not making all that fantastic projects with those guys I think I still don't have the opportunity to know those great musicians
I’ve got a bone to pick with Jeff S. Soto. Love his work w/ Yngwie, w/ Funk You, w/ the Queen Extravaganza, but dude, YOU SHOULD’VE BEEN HONEST ABOUT WHERE YOU GOT THE NAME OF THE ALBUM. Los Angeles, early 90’s, the best band in town, Sykotik Synfoney, I saw you at many of their shows!!! C’mon, man, not cool. Why not be honest?????
Everybody there is kissing up to the Derek Sherinian for job security. You can tell he is the kind of dude that feels musically over everybody else, and nobody would want to hang out with, outside the studio or after touring.
Thats awesome - what a happy group of musicians, all greats in their own right. VERY appropriate band name and album title :). And yup, Derek's line from the making of Falling Into Infinity is hilarious and classic :D.

Agreed!
As a longtime fan as you are, I couldn't agree more with you. Can't understand how Ron gets this little recognition. He is one of the best ever.
Stephen Chapman Humblefoot

Amen to that Stephen!!
The guys look happy together, I want to hear the album

Lines in the sand bro
I'm loving Derek's douche-ness "I'm making history, and you?" Awesome!
I remember that from the "Once in a Live-Time" DVD. It was funny then, and it's just as funny now.
I too remember, just before they sacked him.
Yep. Too bad. While I love Jordan Rudess, I still think the albums with Derek were the best of the bunch.
Billy Sheehan playing prog's, what's not to like??!!
Hell yeah!!
Billy Sheehan playing whatever he plays. Saw him two days ago with Mr Big. Amazing guy Whatever he does,,,,,,,
Billy Sheehan is a member of almost any metal/prog/hardrock supergroup. What a coincidence

Ron playing a little part of "Indonesia Raya" National Anthem of Indonesia...I Appreciated so much, Thanks a lot Ron, it so great...
Can't wait to hear this album! I really hope these guys stay together for a while. Super groups rarely last. It's gotta be pretty damn hard to control and channel that much talent, but maybe this time it'll work. Let's hope.

This explains where Dream Theater's balls went.

Mike Portnoy More Mike means more musical goodness.
I'd like to see you play the same music for 20+ years.

Bring the music and shut up 😃🎩
Sooooo the dogz ?? 2019? Oh noooooo!
