This genre has been there for years. "Rnb dance hall" just the snare placement is different. Which is also used in Rnb dance hall for switch up or adding snare fill to existing drum sequence.
@@sharpeknight7403 I hear what you saying but we can compare extremes all day yk. Is it just me or does the bald guy have the most impressive unedited voice ever when it comes to being perfectly on pitch, performance, and just everything in general? Like his runs are so fucking perfect
What's awesome about seeing you in the studio is your not just giving ideas to these artists. You're also showing them with your own voice. I love to see you not just making the beat but also doing songwriting. As another producer, its incredibly impressive.
This guys can sing damn, working with such artists makes producing even easier...how i wish to hear their dry vocals. we also need a new vocal mixing tut for or this vocal chains used here on this 3 tracks
Lool some of these “sub genres” already exist. The drill hat/countersnare pattern when slowed down could easily translate to Afrobeats. You can easily see this in the beat with the guitar melody. I love it though. It’s great for creativity and pushing of the genre. Great work as always Mr Servida
I always appreciate it when I see producers pushing themselves. The sound was as described and one of the hardest things to do is to not get distracted by the "vibe" and make something different from your initial goal. The songs came out great and I appreciate watching the process. All of the singers added something of their personality to the songs. IMO I feel like this genre deserves a female vocalist to eat up the slow vibes and really flex with the bendy 808s with their licks and runs. Great work!
Haven’t touched my little setup of producing due to messy schedules, but SIMON, big ups to you for keep motivating with everything. Shall restart after very long gap lol . Good day everyone
If you listen to Darkchild’s production, especially for Brandy’s Discography, you’ll hear a lot of this sub-genre, but it’s very RnB-ish. Amazing work! 🔥💪🏾
@@tyresefulks9153 You can call reach, but he has a point. It was never called Drill until the 2010’s with US Drill in Chicago and 2012 with UK Drill. Rodney Jerkins was producing similar beats with that snare pattern since the early 90’s. I think one could agree he didn’t START Drill but definitely was making Drill beats before it was ever an official thing. 💁🏾♂️
I thought about this as well. It also made me flashback to when they said a producer created rolling hi hats in early 2010s but Manny Fresh was throwing them in beats in the late 90s early 00’s. I personally think we just find something and add it to something new or continue to evolve what’s already there and make a new lane.
The most important thing by far is the performance, all these guys are really good singers, and singing really well is hard af if you're not naturally talented at it.
R&Drill - B Young Literally everything that MiSTah Kye does 4am - JBee 2:30AM - Kay9ine Deeper than drill - Ronzo Suddenly remix - WaveyAyoA1 Just to name a few... this is really damn impressive. Keep seeking brother. You might make it big....but there are plenty of people who could do that. I think you would make excellent music from your heart that touches people's lives. Not many do that.
A few months ago I accidentally made a Drill Beat in 90 BPM and only noticed halfway through that this is not how you usually do it but then I thought "fuck it, just call it Boom Drill and make it a new sub genre". I had the same "why did nobody came up with this idea before"-thought like you haha
Drill started in chicago, UK took it and made it how it is today. It is still dark. Melodic Drill is just Sample or Melodic Drill. The Hat patterns, Snare Patterns (the default basic patterns for drill) Came from Afro. Afro tempos are 138-140BPM drill shud be 138-150. This just RNB.
Ive been trying to perfect this for months. I call it "Chill Drill". I was trying to merge dancehall and drill and its very similar to this video. The tresilo is kinda like the basis of dancehall except we use the kick and snare as well to make the beat, not just the hats so both genres already somewhat overlap. Also dancehall is around 100 bpm so i stick to 110-120 for chill drill, similar to your beat as well. Skiifall is an upcoming artist who uses these type beats and part of my inspiration to make this kind of music
Bro I have literally made a few drill beats around 105-120bpm and also at like 160-175bpm!! Drill sounds dope regardless of speed man 🔥 Love the whole process G 🔥💫
Sounds a lot like rnb drill. I remember when first got into drill and went crazy experimenting with drill and did some slow drill jams. I gotta look through some old beats😭
You will hear this winter a lot of this Beats Inspired by Mr. Servida!!! Great Video Simon did it again Entertain, Inspired and Motivated me to go straight to the cook up 💯💯💯
With a slightly lower bpm, with the same rhythmic Drill, you come across a very popular musical genre currently in Africa called *AfroLuv* . And this genre (afroLuv) is born from another genre called *ZOUK*, which has its origins on the side of the Antilles; an island not far from France. You should give it a listen ASAP.
earlier this month i did something called future drill. i think ive invented it since ive never seen it before. basically, it's drill with a future bass super saw wub wub melody. it also uses a future bass snare instead of a short snare. thats it tho

Love the mix on Everything On Me, I was just using it as a reference for the aforementioned track.
I have a video idea that I would like to see, you could try finding some of your own older (worse) tracks and beats and try to fix them now that you are a better music producer. PS Show the before and after results when you're done fixing the beats :)
I remember about 2 years ago I made a beat where i mixed sounds from Lo-Fi and drill. the result? Lofi Drill. I was proud of it for a long time, but It doesnt stand close to these. Incredible job man.
there's another extremely small drill movement going on in UK underground rn where it's turned all ravey, artists like douvelle19 have been doing upbeat grime edits for time now but after a recent skin on skin boiler room set, there's been a tiny influx of techno drill tracks, and I have to say the dark melodies and rough vocals play so well with the relentless barrage of a techno 4 on the floor. These are big times for music and I'm buzzin to see what new genres are gonna be about a few years from now.
